  1. Count me in! Might have to sell a kidney but it will be worth it!
  2. These are great! Carousel in the park is fantastic , although the statue and trees do look a little out of scale.
  3. I really like this arrangement. I did prefer the Town Hall by itself, but overall this current layout gives the sense of a bustling city! One suggestion from me - move one of the log cabins further back and to the left of the Haunted House, amongst the trees. This would give the impression of a log cabin in the woods and add another focal point for the layout.
  4. Both of these are great! Olivander's is instantly recognisable and you've done an awesome job converting RedCoKid's Pumpkin Factory building into mini scale. The Pumpkin Factory is my favourite of these two and I particularly like how you have done the windows and awnings on the ground floor. The street so far looks great too!
  5. Very nice! Looks like a great place to relax.
  6. Although I've followed this topic with interest, I've avoided posting myself because I think this is an argument that will continue for a long time and there will always be opposing views on the matter. I don't think my comments below will change that, but I wanted to put my views out there anyway. I think you've summed it up nicely here. I think people easily forget that the Friends line has opened up LEGO to girls who would otherwise never have even considered LEGO. Furthermore, yes there is a beauty parlour (and, shock horror, I don't mind getting a facial every now and then), but there are plenty of non-typical, positive roles portrayed by the Friends girls. I think the cultural obstacles are the biggest and it is our role, as parents and "grown ups", to not enforce those. The standard response to me showing a Friends set at work is "Oooh, girly LEGO". I know that there are external influences that we can't control (such as what they hear at school), but we still need to do what we can. Exactly. The theme of the Friends movie is that they can do anything. I would happily have my daughter adopt one of the Friends girls as her role model.
  7. Thanks for the advice! I don't have my town hall built at the moment, but I don't recall there being a problem with the front doors. It's a great model and I'd definitely put it on the list to get.
  8. Congratulations ... it's easy to see why this would have been a winner. There are so many interesting details, like the angled floor tiling, the window in the roof, the roof itself, the hedge, the fence, the stainless steel kitchen, just to name a few. Except the spider. I struggle to reconcile "home sweet home" with the big spider out the front!
  9. I disagree. With each new wave of sets, TLG brings out new moulds, existing parts new colours and (to a lesser extent) new colours. Someone may well have enough parts to build anything they want, but (unless TLG stops producing new moulds) they'll never reach the point where they have enough pieces to build any set ever released. Unless you keep buying those new pieces of course. Also, as LT said, $100 doesn't get you much LEGO in Australia.
  10. That's an awesome float! I love how the studs on the plate he's sitting make seats for the kids. Very nice!
  11. Thanks for the feedback Tammo! Choosing who to kill on Night 1 and 2, when there is so little information to work on, was difficult. In defence of my choice of picking Adam and at the risk of getting meta-killed in the next game, I did say in the writeboard that my choice for night 2 was between Adam and PPJB. What I didn't mention there was that CMP was third on my list. So, I had 2 out of 3 right at that point. I'm happy with that. One thing that I struggled with was not wanting to name anyone publicly in case I got it right, thus making me a target for a scum kill. I wanted to help town, but not draw attention to myself.
  12. This train is so cute! Great idea and execution. I also like the atmosphere you've created with the scene around the ride.
  13. This is absolutely gorgeous!
  14. Nice facade! My favourite parts are the gardens out the front and back, the wood panelling in the lounge and the wardrobe in the bedroom. The street scene in the last shot looks fantastic.
  15. Definitely, especially 1x1 round plates in transparent colours and the dark bluish grey versus black. I just thought that was old age starting to show ... glad to hear I'm not the only one.
  16. This is a really nice Victorian! I've mentioned before that I like the roof and the pillars at the bottom of the stairs. A couple of other neat details I've noticed since is the cladding on the garage door and the mail on the front porch. I didn't realise it was an odd number of studs, which would be an issue if you were using road plates instead of a brick built road. Mind you, it lets you have those lovely big bay windows!
  17. This was a great game, Tammo! You were an awesome host and I loved the comics. Great setup too. I was certain, though, that town would have another vig of sorts given I was only 50% effective (based on the odds). That was a bummer. Why me? I'm curious whether I gave off any hints that I had a PR? You should apologise! That was a horrible thing to do. Only kidding. No need to apologise. Scum played a good game. A plea to all future scum teams: Please let me live past Night 2! Pretty please?
  18. The last stop for Emma and Natalie on their girls' day out is the cafe for a well-earned soda and cupcake! Girls' Day Out - Cafe by kjw010, on Flickr I ended up leaving Breez standing as I couldn't find a sitting pose that worked well. Fortunately, the cafe was recently renovated, and now has a rooftop terrace for customers.
  19. Love it, especially those dark blue arches! I think I like this better than another building.
  20. Thanks, Wodanis. I agree, Bricklink could use a few more categories given the variability in quality of what fits within the "used" category.
  21. This is awesome, especially the lighting effect! Some interesting techniques on the tower too. Thanks for sharing.
  22. Sorry to hear you're having a tough year. I hope it turns around soon. Looking forward to seeing more of your creations, LDD or otherwise!
  23. It refers to studs, so a base that is 8 studs long and 8 studs wide. I don't think it's a strict standard though, as there are other sized creations that are referred to as vignettes. 8x8 seems to be most common and they generally tend to be 16x16 or smaller.
