Collectable Minifigure Sightings & Availability
HawkLord replied to mo123567's topic in Special LEGO Themes
As mentioned, Freddies can be hit-or-miss when it comes to new CMFs - some will have them while others will not. The only advantage with Freddies is that they tend to have them in bulk when they do have them. With Series 7 and 8 this year a number of stores I hit had at least sealed five cases on the shelf. Unfortunately, I don't remember the address... though I'm willing to bet that other Bartel's have gotten them in, as well. This one was also loaded on Series 8. Are you also in the WA area? -
REVIEW: 71000 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 9
HawkLord replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Went back the Bartel's and picked up Heroic Knight x4, Cyclops x4, Fortune Teller, and Forest Maiden. I was disappointed because out of two cases I only found one Forest Maiden and I definitely need more of her. Seemingly lots of everyone else, including several Alien Avengers whom I though would be alot more popular for army-builders.- 171 replies

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
HawkLord replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
For the price, I can't say I'd recommend it. I bought the magnet set with Bariss Offee in it back when that came out, so there's nothing in the Swamp Speeder I'd really need. -
Collectable Minifigure Sightings & Availability
HawkLord replied to mo123567's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Found the 60 count boxes of Series 9 at Bartell's - it's a local drug store in the northwest. Grabbed seven bags haphazardly: Heroic Knight x2 (Yes!) Cyclops (Cool) Mermaid x2 (Boo - made a mistake as I only wanted one) Starlet (I must be getting rusty, because I was thinking this was the Forest Maiden) Robot (Cool) Overall, the ones I found were pretty cool. The helmet being an off color from the armor throws off the Knight alittle, but the armor being nicely printed makes up for that. Now I just need to track down a couple Forest Maidens and Gypsies... -
Haven't found a single clearance item since spotting the MF Ghost Train at Walmart the day after Christmas. Otherwise, for some reason all the other sets people are seeing on clearance are still at regular price here in WA. As for sales, Fred Meyers is running B2G1 - they even have the 2013 Star Wars sets out, so now might be a good time to hit them up. No CMF S9 though...

For the first half of the year, I'll be wrapping up all of the remaining or current Star Wars and LOTR/Hobbit sets I need. Hopefully, if there's any money left over I can look at gathering any remaining Harry Potter and Marvel sets on my list. By the summer waves, I might have to reassess for purchases in the fall. Probably still dabble in the CMF and consider Castle/Kingdoms. I should also get around to using my VIP points this year.

I would rather have a replacement MISB set. Most collectors know that the monetary value doesn't always add-up to what something is really worth. Some collectible items take time to track down, so it's not as much a monetary iusse as it is a time, effort, and availability issue. It's a shame. I hope this collector is able to find another MISB copy.

Lego Mirkwood Elf Guardian Polybag @ Toys R us
HawkLord replied to sgtbernalcl25's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Found one lone Mirkwood bag amongst the filled endcap wing of Chima bags. Very strange - might have been a holiday return or found somewhere in the store. -
Just filled my first Pick-a-Brick holiday box. Having never used the Pick-a-Brick wall before, I wasn't too savy on how to best structure everything in the box, but man was it fun! I know I didn't end up scoring as well as some of the other posters here, but I still feel like I got a good amount of stuff - plus obviously it was free. I think I ended up with six white horses and a number of brown bricks and green foliage pieces. Having shopped at Lego stores and never really looking at the PAB wall before, it was pretty impressive the number of pieces they had. Plus, there were tons of people - mostly kids loading cups and holiday boxes. Everyone there was using some variation of stacking bricks for efficiency. Kind of makes me wish I they had something like that when I was a kid.

Nice video, but I'm confused. This video gives the impression that at least the first episode is just an advertisement for current/new sets.

Off topic - as mentioned, the Hasbro purchased disolved or was a rumor. Now the new interesting piece is that Disney may be making their own 6" Star Wars figures to be sold at their parks. Now, as long as Disney does not want to try their hand at the building block market, I'm happy. -
Cool. Thank you.

I'm not sure Lego would release reports on how well a given line is doing. They would list reports on how Lego is doing overall, but I think there would be some concern over people mis-using information if they knew a given line was failing. Given how many people spin Lego for profit, reports on failing lines would be a dead give-away. Plus, Lego is still a business and I don't expect them to present all their cards every time. In my own experience in this area, I see LOTR/Hobbit Lego selling about as well as any other Lego line. The Hobbit movie is obviously helping this, so a better gauge might be a month or so from now.

It's another great reminder of just how universal Lego is. People in every country seem to know of and have some experience with Lego.

In regards to the above Adam Brown pic - I really hope Lego sent each of the dwarves a copy of their Lego minifigure, aside from just Ian McKellan (Gandalf), Martin Freeman (Bilbo), and Richard Armitage (Thorin).

Is $70 a good price for the 7189 Kingdoms Mill Village Raid? A local hobby shop has one - the box shows signs of shelf wear, but still looks to be sealed.

How so? We got the Battle of Naboo set in 2011 that had eight Battle Droids and two Pilot Droids and there is also the recently clearanced Naboo Starfighter that comes with two Security Droids.

The Barge is pretty logical because Lego needed another selling point to a redesigned set like that and the Palace already had alot of new minifigures going for it.

That's Fimbul, who becomes the Warg pack leader after Yazneg is killed.

Granted, there are gateway elements to PJ's Hobbit movies that will connect to the LOTR movies, but I don't think scenes of (an older) Viggo chasing after Gollum will be one of them. The main point in the connection with these movies will be establishing that Sauron has returned as the Necormancer and is growing in power.

Lynnwood, WA Walmart has the MF Ghost Train at $55 on clearance. Only 4-5 remain.

I wasn't crazy about the oaken shield design in the movie. Fortunately, Thorin drops it as the eagle picks him up and you can actually hear it hit the ground. Given that it's a tree branch now lying somewhere in the forest will mean it will be near impossible for Thorin to find in the future. Unless one of the eagles grabbed and decides to give it back to him later on - maybe at the Battle of Five Armies.

Great review - thanks for posting it. I'm still on the fence about the set. Nothing really that flashy about it and I'm not sure I need it enough. Though compared with everything else on my short list for the start of '13, this makes the decision a bit harder.

I would actually like to see Poggle the Lesser (the Geonosian who hands over the DS plans) or Sun-Fac. I've missed out on alot of the Geonosian sets, so I could use more of them. I agree that's Ree-Yees. At first I thought it might be a Luke with a new wavy hair piece, but now I see more of the Ree-Yees. Plus, Luke is in the Skiff set, so it might be redundant to include him here.

I'm glad you were finally able to find one. I know here the Uruk-Hai Army set has been the hardest to find of the LOTR/Hobbit sets. I myself only have two because I don't want to get too deep into army-building, but I may pick-up more down the line since Lego might be light for me at the start of the year. It might be one of the sets with the highest secondary market price once LOTR is discontinued.
