Yes, the green markings are for sergeant. Would have been a much better army-builder set, if it was just another generic white clone, though.

Lego Mirkwood Elf Guardian Polybag @ Toys R us
HawkLord replied to sgtbernalcl25's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
It would also be useful if people added to their sightings whether or not the TRU store they found the polybags at also had The Hobbit sets out. It seems the general consensus is that people have found the polybags only at stores that had The Hobbit sets out anyway. Really makes it seem like some TRU stores have just broken the street date on The Hobbit stuff and put out everything at once - also to boost BF sales. I saw the same thing with The Hobbit action figures - TRU put them out even though they were street dated. TRU doesn't care, as long as they can make money. -
I think before the end, we may yet get everything - Anduril, Glamdring, Orcist, Gandalf's staff, etc. They would all make for good incentive pieces to add to a set to make it that much more desirable. When people get tired of seeing Gandalf, Lego can just throw in the staff and make him a bit more new and fresh.

No TRU Mirkwood Elf polybags here either. Although that's probably because the place looks like a warzone gearing up for BF.

Lego Mirkwood Elf Guardian Polybag @ Toys R us
HawkLord replied to sgtbernalcl25's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Anyone with any Washington area sightings? I think I might hit two TRUs tomorrow in hopes of finding them. -
I'll just reinterate what I posted in the other Mirkwood Elf thread. Be careful with TRU orders because they are known to cancel out order for products thay've made mistakes on or have sold out of. This happens with Star Wars and Transformers stuff all the time, because their stocking/inventory is so wonky. I can't count how many times Masterpiece Prime was added and then pulled from TRUs site and how many people had orders cancelled. I hope everyone who order any get them in.

I would only suggest caution because TRU is known to cancel out orders where they've made mistakes or ran out of product. Happens with Star Wars and Transformers stuff all the time - look at how often the recent Masterpiece Prime goes up and down on the TRU site. I don't mean to discourage those that have orders in, just watch them carefully. With that said, I could see how this might be a promo set and if it is, hopefully a few might hit the pegs like the MF Zombie Car I was able to get during the promo because a few were actually in the aisle on pegs. Otherwise, if I have to buy from TRU to get this, then I'm out. -
Looks like TRU took it down. This is a great polybag with something for everyone. Without the ear/hair piece, it doesn't feel like an Elf, but that's fine, because it can double as much more. I'm thinking if I get these I might make Faramir's Rangers using other parts.

No longer on their site, pity. I wish it had the Elven ears/hair piece, but otherwise I'll try to grab a few if I ever see them. It's nice that it comes with the tree because if you get multiples, you can just keep building a forest. -
Fred Meyers has an online coupon for 25% off all toys that's good till Nov 21st. Won't stack with their usual 10% home coupon, though.

I also saw that error. They have the wrong set in the pick, so I could see how it might work for price matching. Now it looks like Target's error may not effect them, but may effect everyone else with a price match policy. Not fair for them.

Walmart has LOTR Helm's Deep at $105 listed online and in-stock. They also have the SW Millennium Falcon at $99.97 online, though that is out of stock.

Review: 79001 Escape from Mirkwood Spiders
HawkLord replied to Big Cam's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Outstanding set. I just hope I like Tauriel in the Hobbit movie as much as I liked Arwen and Eowyn from LOTR. I'll pick-up this set, but won't know anything about the character till next year - it's shame.- 77 replies

Stolen 10214 Tower Bridge - HELP URGENTLY NEEDED!
HawkLord replied to bricknation.com's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm not sure what's it's like in the UK, but I would think proof of purchase (receipts or bank statement) and the fact that they were taken from your office (which is probably in the same general area where they were found) would be enough to prove ownership. Speaking of which, was anything else missing from your office? Do you have any idea who could have stolen the sets - maybe someone that works there? -
I think we've been hearing Nov 27th in Lego stores. Just after the BF sales, which makes sense because Lego doesn't want to offer the new stuff with any kind of discount just yet.

Lego "Brick Friday" Exclusive VIP Access Event!
HawkLord replied to mostlytechnic's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I got the same email. Not quite sure what to expect, but I'll be checking it out. Considering one needs to spend $100 to get the xmas set and that qualifies for free shipping, I guess it's better than driving out to the local store - not that I got a ticket anyway. -

Wow! That is truly amazing. Great design and build with a great message.

I agree - the 501st's mold looks pretty good. Though the solid blue arms throw it off. I can see that it's cheaper for Lego mechanically to cast a solid blue arm than it is for them to cast a white arm and then print it with a blue stripe.

I'd go with the Slave 1, as it's the older of the two sets and may not be around much longer. Though I personally like the Falcon better due to the great build and selection of main characters, I'd have to go with the set that might not be there next time.

You guys are right, the quiver does work with Thorin. For some reason it seemed alittle too snug the first time I tried it. Just found that TV clip elsewhere and it is really good. Very spot on Bilbo.
-
Can you share with us what state you are in? I've seen the Hobbit sets at local Freddies, just not the Mirkwood or Barrel sets yet. I post one of Thorin's a couple pages back. Basically, it's a long flowing hair-style with part of the top section tied back. It can't work with a quiver, but could work with a cape.

Limited Edition Lego Christmas Set 2012 1/1
HawkLord replied to GRogall's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Since I don't have anything else to do on BF, I might hit the Lego store just for this. BF can get pretty intense, but if I make a trip just to one store, it's not that bad. Plus, hopefully the Lego store won't be on most people's radar, so I sneak in while everyone else hits Walmart and Sears.- 67 replies

Back to the LEGO world after a LONG hiatus.
HawkLord replied to NotTheDroidYoureLookingFor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Well, I'll say you started with two really good Star Wars sets. That Skiff is one of my recent favorites. I would highly recommend the LOTR sets - I have all of them so far and they're great. As for how often sets are released, generally they come out in two waves per year - one in summer and one in winter (usually just around the holidays). You'll also see previous sets retired around that time to make room for the new stuff. As for deals, you have to check around. Lego's site has their VIP points program which is nice, but the biggest discounts are usually from stores that run sales, have coupons, or are online and have cheaper prices. Amazon and Ebay tend to be reasonable. Being close to the end of the year, you might see some clearance stuff, as well. Generally, though I don't see alot of Star Wars stuff get marked down that much. I don't have experience with it, but you may want to check around on this forum for people selling sets. Further down the forum sections there is a spot for sales and deals. I try to post in the sales section when I see good deals on Sundays. -
Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
HawkLord replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
What if the Malibu Mansion set is really just from a past IM movie - like Iron Man 2. It could have Tony in the IM armor, Rhodey in the Mark II armor, and Pepper with a small sort of interior scene from where they fought. I'd also be interested in a test phase IM set with Tony in the proto gear and his sidekick robot where he first gets to fly around the garage, plus you could add Pepper to that one. Extremis could just be a small sized set like the Avengers Captain America, with the new Extremis armor and some other small accessory/build. Kind of like a teaser set - nothing revealed, but you get a new figure.
