Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Future™ Time Machine
HawkLord replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
I would hope so, but I doubt it. I think a large part of the appeal on this set is that it is a one-off and not a line. People are seeing this as a stand-alone CUUSOO set from a movie IP. As the only way to get these figures and this vehicle, it stands that this set was guaranteed to be popular. If it was part of line where every other set had a Marty or Doc, I could see where overall, the Delorean would be about average in popularity. Plus, at this point they've nailed the most iconic piece from BTTF in three forms, I'm not sure where else they could go with this. -
Missing/damaged parts or minifigures in new sets

That's why I always buy from the local Lego store or online. If I have to buy from Target/Walmart I thoroughly check the packaging for not just broken tape, but any kind of stress to the box, like dents, creases, etc. If it looks questionable, I pass. Having been in the toy collecting hobby for a number of years, I've found that people will take all kinds of stuff from packaging and I've always found the worst offenders at TRUs. Those stores have too many high aisles and places to hide. -

Finally scored one at the local Lego store. They had several on the shelves and I guess they must have got a shipment today or something. I also noticed it was one-per-household.- 207 replies

Seems a really odd move as the Simpsons isn't really an action themed licensed. Plus, with very little universally recognizable set ideas I'm not sure where they will go with it. I'm sure there will be a sofa set (with maybe only two main characters), possibly Moe's (if toned down from the alcohol theme), and maybe Homer's control area at the powerplant - but then where else could they go with sets?

My store indicated that they would be getting more in next Monday and to try back then. So, technically they will not have any available for the 1st. Which if fine for me, because at least now I know (and don't have to waste the trip), but I can see where other people coming in on the first might be all excited for nothing. Because of all the early stocking reports, I went yesterday, but I guess that wasn't early enough.- 207 replies

I'm good with the AT-AP, I don't have one and I don't have any PT Wookies. Whereas, I'm not thrilled with the vehicle, it could be worse.

The Wizard Battle - local store finally had them. Sadly, I think that means I'm also done with this LOTR wave...

Picked up Duel on Geonosis from the local Lego store. It looked like the big sets were selling down well. I'd say the Tank Droid was the weakest in terms of just how many were on the shelf.

Local Lego store went through two batches of these so far - both loads of stock came in on Mondays and the first batch sold out in hours, while the one this past Monday sold out by Tuesday morning. And here I was hoping to get at least two, maybe three. Might just get them off the site.- 207 replies

I'm hoping that Lego doesn't see the larger failing of the movie as a reason to pull back from the Western theme. In a way, I think the LOTR line helped usher in a new Castle line and I was hoping that TLR line would help usher in a Western line. It may yet still work out.

The helmet definitely looks like the same mold. Maybe the colors are just throwing things off alittle. Overall, I'm in for the set just for Jango. Ilike the Tank Droid well enough, but it's never been on my list of "must have" vehicles. If this set had a repeated Jedi in place of Jango, for example, I wouldn't even bother.

Obviously this won't help everyone, but the Alderwood Mall Lego store (Seattle area) is running an anniversary celebration this weekend where if you spend $35 you get the Hoth Han polybag. Kind of a shame about the Hoth Han... I got him last month with my $75 purchase...

Not really a sale, but the Alderwood Mall Lego store (Seattle area) is running a celebration this weekend for their one year anniversary as follows: Spend $35 get the Hoth Han polybag Spend $50 get a set of minifigures (fairly generic - a mix of stuff from the Build-a-Fig center) Spend $75 get the Jor-El polybag At each level you also get the previous' levels stuff. So, I bought $95 worth of product and got all three items. Should be running all weekend. Kind of a shame about the Hoth Han... I got him last month with my $75 purchase...

Win, win, win! Bought on sight. That is just too gorgeous to pass up. I might need two. Now if Lego can just make a ghost set of Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Anakin that set would be complete.

Waiting for sales or discounts is just too much of a gamble for me. With most sets staying on the shelves for at least six months, the best idea is just to keep an eye on a given set. Ifit's not selling well in a number of regions, then maybe it might be going to sale. If it's a dying licensed theme, it could also be going to sale. Now UCS, I would never wait on if I could help it. The recent B-wing wasn't a popular set that was selling out routinuely. This is obvious because of how many copies a number of stores had on hand. My local store had at least eight in the first hour - I doubt they had that many Death Stars, R2s, or X-Wings in the back.

I'm mostly looking for abstract techniques. Things that look more realistic to nature. Thank you for posting that Bearded Castle Guy! Those pics are amazing and the technique is genius. Yea, I'm going to be copying a lot of that. Looks like I have some more bricks to buy, as flowers may not be enough. -

I recently came into a large number of flowerheads (red), flower stalks, and bamboo leaves due to the Holiday PaB boxes I got. I'm wondering if there are any good tips for how to arrange these. Currently, I can space them about three studs apart or four studs if I double the height by using two flower stalks - making one section look even fuller. I think I have them pretty well arranged without looking too concise and predictable. I'm not quite sure how to arrange the bamboo leaves or if I even want to mix them in with the flowers. The scene itself will have no specific look, I'm just trying to get the hang of MOCing a garden area for other projects. -
Just got back from the local Lego store. Seems they had a number of B-wing sets - I think I saw at least eight copies during my time there. Everytime the shelf space ran out, someone would bring out more; though the shelf space was only loaded with two copies at a time. Probably 1/3 of those buying SW sets in the store had a B-wing. I ended up cashing in some VIP points and bought the R2, as I just couldn't pull the trigger on the B-wing. There was nothing else I really needed anyway...

I'm not a GoT fans, but those look gorgeous. Very well done - that's alot of creativity and dedication!

Amazing pics! This year's SW sets are going to be bigger for me than last year's. Gonna have to start putting pennies in the jar...

Lego stores will carry the promo figure and poster. I'm sure supplies will be somewhat limited. For 50% off, I'm interested and then I realized it's the B-wing... not my favorite ship, so I'm on the fence.

Exactly. TRU should never be an option for Lego buyers unless the buyer happens to have some kind of discount, coupon, or the set in question is a TRU exclusive and the buyer has no access to a Lego store or Lego site. Even with all those considerations, the deal would have to be really good by TRU standards because of their mark-ups. TRU is the worst place to shop for Legos. *rant over*

The lightsaber as a running water spout and effect is brilliant. Very nicely done!

In for at least one. Maybe two. Grima is alittle weak, but the build makes up for that easily.
