  1. Not necessarily. Lego stores will have different distributors than other retail stores like Target, Walmart, etc.
  2. I've been avoiding the digital card route because I just can't justify paying for something like that when it's not real or physical. I even have a couple free digital pack codes I haven't gotten around to using yet because I just don't get the point. Indy cards sound interesting, I'll have to look those up. I remember hunting down Indy action figures in '08, but never saw trading cards. I was also reading that some of the inserts in TFA packs went to the wrong stores. For example, I bought packs from Target that had the Wahlgreens exclusive cards in them and not the Target ones. Now, I have to figure out how to get the Target ones, as those are the only interesting exclusive inserts to me.
  3. I wanted to start a topic on Topps Star Wars trading cards. As a collector of the cards for years, I've recently picked up some of the new Journey to the Force Awakens cards and have been generally impressed. I found a "blaster box" (at least that's what they've been called on Ebay) at TRU which contains 10 six card packs and one patch card. I pulled one of the Chewbacca (bust pic) patches. I then later found packs at Target - 3 six card packs in blister packaging and then 2 seven card packs in normal two-pack bags. The three pack generated a good ratio of cards, including the Target exclusive red border cards (one in each pack). Overall, the number of parallel types will probably put off some collectors, but as I never go for full sets, this makes for a fun amount of variety. The movie shots are good and the cards have a definite wieghty "vintage" feel to them. Anyone else collecting these cards or others?
  4. Ghostbusters makes sense as a theme. There's a new movie coming out next year (with virtually guaranteed sequels), it matches up with City/Town (and maybe Scooby-Doo) well enough, the subject matter and material are generally suitable enough for Lego's audience, and there's nothing like it on the market to compete with (Diamond Select has an upcoming action figure line and that's it). Even CMF Series 14 works well with it.
  5. I love Ghostbusters, but $350 is a huge hit. If it was more like $200 (similar to the Simspon's House), I could get there. Fortunately, the other characters they could add to it (Dana Barrett, Louis Tully, or Walter Peck) can be made from existing parts.
  6. I also appreciate the variety of colors available for Lego. When I was a kid the colors were much more limited and as an AFOL, I find that the array of colors make Lego even more creative. I would agree with other statements that it would be nice if Lego made more of the common bricks in all the colors.
  7. Lego has the best QC response of any company I have ever interacted with. I would have no problem buying a set that has this type of QC issue, knowing that Lego will surely fix the problem. Anyone on the fence, should just buy it now rather than risk it later during the holiday shopping season.
  8. I think just like the other Force Friday merchandise (particularly Hasbro) most Lego was under produced. I suspect it's because Disney wants to create a false sense of success and buzz by creating such a sold-out dynamic on their license. I'm also thinking they want to avoid past Force Friday's abundance of products. What's interesting is that I am finding the X-Wing (and others) available at Target and TRU.
  9. I think this could make for an interesting and smart pattern for Lego with such a frequent line like Marvel - basically offer certain popular (or less common) minifigures in large sets first and then later (or in the next movie) offer those same characters in smaller sets, while offering new popular characters in that movie's big sets. It could be a strong cycle of making consumers buy the bigger sets to get the popular characters now and when the next movie hits, the smaller sets will sell with the same characters because some didn't get them when they first came out.
  10. Given the relationship Lego has with WB, I doubt the contract will end and I'd bet that there will be HP sets in the future, even if just one wave. One of the fronts that the superhero toy battleground is taking place is with Lego, so it makes sense for WB to stay connected.
  11. My wife and I each managed to get one of the TRU Lego bricks last night. I was hoping it was a solid brick, but it has that panel style to it. Fun fact - it doesn't state Disney anywhere on the brick or package. Still, another memorabilia brick to add to the wall. TRU also had a number of the Lego sets out, but nothing I felt like jumping at just yet.
  12. Anyone know what the price point buy in is for the TFA brick offered at Lego stores on Force Friday is? I can't find anything online and really have to pick and choose where to go Friday morning to get the most bang for my buck.
  13. This year, I just haven't been into the promos. The only one I've come close on was the Marvel Winter Soldier, but like others have predicted that one is probably coming in a set next year. Otherwise, brick built promos aren't special enough for me to need and I probably have the parts to build most of them. Lego has become so big that they don't need to draw people in as much with free stuff.
  14. I don't know anything about the Hunger Games, but that bow using Dooku's saber is brilliant.
  15. Flick fire missiles and their related parts.
  16. I'm hoping the C-3PO polybag is get with purchase. If it just gets put out on pegs like a normal polybag, it'll be easy scalper bait. I guess I can just wait till they release him in a set eventually.
  17. Green, brown, tan, and greys. I love nature builds and those colors are always ones I grab from on PaBs and the like.
  18. Really nicely done! You could shorten the hall as mentioned and it would be a perfect modular vignette.
  19. It's all a small price to pay to maintain the great relationship Eurobricks has with Lego. I wouldn't want to jeopardize that because of two weeks.
  20. I think my limit is space, but also innovation. I know I don't have every piece ever made and I honestly don't want to. The reason being is that I like having to strategize alternatives, so for me my collecting is slow based on MOCs and when the next time I'm stuck on something is. I never buy on bricklink or the like, I just use what I happen to get from sets and the occasional PaB wall.
  21. Overall I think the sets will make more sense when people see the movie. For all we know, maybe Kylo doesn't wear the hood that often and the masked piece makes sense.
  22. Slimer, Stay Puft, and Venkman all look good. Not sold on the Terror Dog or Slime Cannon, but I'll have to deal with those to get the good stuff.
  23. Really great and original. Reminds me of Inside Out.
  24. Carbon freezing chamber with an updated frozen Han would be great. I know the current one is supposed to "hide" the Han minifigure inside, but I'd rather have one that is more a block, so it adds depth. More Hoth stuff? Hmm... I guess if I'm bored I can add it to my existing Hoth material from '09-'11 but otherwise not too excited. Jedi Interceptor? If it has a cool or updated alien Jedi, I would get it.
