I'm glad the SDCC set is not made of exclusive material. This set looks pretty cool, but I don't know what I would use it for or how well I could display it. It'd be great to think that these are hints on future sets. Maybe yoda's hut makes some appearance in TFA, which could prompt it to be relevant to Lego again.

Best way to start building, get back into LEGOs
HawkLord replied to El Wray's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think honesty diving right in is the best approach. Within a budget, though. Look at specific lines you're interested in, maybe wait for sales, consider those Classic sets of bricks Lego has started making, maybe even some PaB stuff, and check out your local Lego store if you have one nearby. Literally the sky's the limit, so there's a number of options that could be best for you. Most importantly keep it fun... -
Given the cost of the Dino molds and developing, this is a good chance for Lego to lock into the IP for future movies and cash in on those molds.

Captain Phasma looks really good! I don't mind not having it in chrome because it would look off with my other figures. C-3PO is not in chrome, so another non-chrome would be fine.

Given the crazy box office numbers, I would hope Lego goes back and makes a second wave. As it is, most of the first wave sets have been selling well in my area, I'd say maybe better than the Avengers set when AoU came out.

Any idea on approximately how many bags they had out? I'm hoping this one is easy to get in some bulk - at least three or four.

I think the only rubbery parts I'm worried about are Smaug's wings... I'll have to treat those.

If the Doctor Who set is numbered 11, it would be great to get a Doctor Eleven in the set... :P

When it comes to these kinds of IPs, it's the figure that are the most important to me. Anything else I can build with the bricks I have. Sure, I don't expect Raptor Escape to even come close to the movie, but it got me two characters and two raptors, the pen I'll just build in larger scale. I ended up I saying this same thing when I buy some of the Marvel sets.

Yes, as far as I understand if you contact Lego they will send out the extra bricks. -

Original version has 183 pieces and the new version has 195. -
OPPORTUNITY: [NORTH AMERICA] LBR PAB Case Sale Event
HawkLord replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I guess I would wonder how many bricks are in each case roughly. Is buying by the case in this fashion worth it or economical? -
I don't think the Chinese plastic is inferior to the official Lego plastic. Every now and then I'll have a CMF minifigure that is loose, but at the same time I have larger figures also from China that are great. As much as people would like Lego to be an exact science, it's really not.

They were never recalled, it was just updated to include the additional 12 pieces. There should be a link to an article about it a couple pages back. -
Is Millenium Falcon 7965 still the one to get?
HawkLord replied to grevens's topic in LEGO Star Wars
If you already have figures from the 7965, then maybe wait for the new TFA version. I'm thinking the build will be very similar (except the dish) and the price should still be reasonable. But half off for 7965 is still really good and it may be nice to have extra parts for modding the TFA version. -
I also left action figures (mostly) and 1/6 scale figures (completely) partially because of rare, con, or chase figures and horrible distribution. Lego counters both with great distribution and limited exclusive material. The material that is overly exclusive hardly has an impact on my collecting whatsoever, because I'm not a completist and don't feel compelled to chase stuff down too much (or pay crazy prices). I think it also helps that I buy Lego universally and don't limit myself to specific lines. This means, I have more bricks at my disposal to build chase stuff like the Bat-pod.

I would like to see a line of lightsaber hilts. Blades would not be needed, I'd be fine with just some cool looking prop hilts with display stands. Like an UCS type line. As for Lego sets, a lot of my picks have been mentioned - Yoda hut, geonosian arena, cloud city. I would also buy a Jedi council room set (loaded with Jedi).
-
Wow, I didn't see there was a limit per state. That makes it way more rough and arguably unfair.
-
I'm fine with this since there are no exclusive minifigures and the bricks look common enough (except the tires). Furthermore, I do like the random draw dynamic as a fun side thing for Lego to offer.

I think now wouldn't make complete sense for Lego to drop a huge Minas Tirith set with all the major licenses on their plate. Arguably, most of the same fans who love LOTR also love Star Wars and Marvel. A large LOTR set may get passed on by many consumers (myself included) in lieu of other purchases from IPs that are just super hot at the moment. I just don't quite need a large grey castle right now compared to needing the new SW or Avengers sets. Now I could use a Balrog or a Fell Beast in a $60 price point set. That I could budget out well with my other purchases this year.
-
I'll pass on the infiltrator. Even if I didn't already have the 2011 set, this one just doesn't have enough to going for it to warrant the price, especially with a new SW movie on the horizon. I want to like it, but I just can't get there. Maybe if there wasn't so much other material, like other good SW sets (Tyderium), Jurassic World, and Marvel, I might have picked it up.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
HawkLord replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
The set with 183 pieces was the first run. Quickly later on, Lego found that the set needed more support in the legs, so they added some bricks to the set; which is low the second run. What you have is the first run version that is an error. If you contact Lego, they should be able to get you the extra pieces. -
Picked up Raptor Escape this weekend. I think it's a great little set and good for expanding on - which I like. The overall design probably isn't anything super special, but I can copy the placement of techic rods to make the raptor pen much larger. Not really sure about the play feature, where the tower platform tips over - doesn't seem to work quite right, so I'll just mod it to be stationary. The vehicle is just a small four-wheeler, which is somewhat useful. The figures have some good printing, and I like the JW logo on the back of the vet. Unless he turns out to be a character from the movie, I'm gonna swap out his silly looking hair for something better. The raptors are the main draw and are solid and well done. I don't have any of the previous dino figures, so I'm excited about getting a second shot at some of the them. Definitely feels like a good set, especially if you have the parts and plans to expand it. I still plan on getting Raptor Rampage despite owning this set.

That Silver Centrurion looks fantastic. Granted it's another Iron Man, but the shoulder/chest armor makes it more than just a repaint. I wish it wasn't tied to a game though... -
Really near perfect representation. The scale and size work well and I like the surrounding items to help expand the scene. Very well done!
