  1. The battle packs are instant army builders for me. Quite the home run. Rodian and Duros heads in a battle pack!? Yes, please x 20. Obi-Wan's Starfighter is a pass - I already have enough of that and don't have the need for more. Carbon Freezing Chamber looks really small, like super small for what it could have been. I don't need more Hans or Boba Fetts, so I'd be getting it for one Ugnaught and the set? Pass. Hoth, gotta pass. Anyone who has been collecting in the past few years has all the Hoth material already. I'm sorry, but there's just nothing for me here. Not into Rebels, so the bike is a pass. Homing Spider Droid, I'm on the fence about. I could use another Yoda and the trooper is nice, plus it could beef-up my Separatists. Maybe if the price is right and it's on sale somewhere. TFA mystery ship - Yes. If has "old" Leia and some new Resistance stuff, it could be a winner. Especially when I'm all TFA movie crazed at that time (which there's a really good chance I will be). Overall, lots of passes I'm sorry to say. I don't like to be pessimistic, but I don't really see a lot in this wave for me.
  2. With a rumored Cloud City revisit next year, I wonder if Lego already has plans for a Bespin Luke.
  3. Voted for 4, 9, and 10. I would be interested in any modern Doctor Who, though.
  4. Great job! The details, like the running soldiers and workers (and the wounded one) are excellent. I also like the landscape work and the water effect.
  5. That's just the best quote out of context! I'm optimistic of this line because it may help add more Fantasy style creatures, weapons, armor, etc. Granted a return to Castle would be cool, but I understand that Lego just doesn't have faith in that specific market. It's better for them to create their own Fantasy world that sets them apart.
  6. I'm fine with the boxes. I understand the size is larger than what would makes sense for other products due to shelf space and security. I also get that the Advent Calendars need slimmer cardboard so that people can punch out the individual date instructions and they can remain a surprise. My only complaint is the instructions and not having those lay against the box flat - instead they're almost always curved around one of the bags. Make no sense whatsoever.
  7. I think with near 40 years of Star Wars expanded universe to draw from some stuff will look similar. I definitely see McQuarrie in many of the vehicles and the First Order troopers. I also see a lot of Revan in Kylo. It makes sense to take from what works.
  8. Maybe trans blue to show the speed of the blue in his costume moving by so fast? I've seen people use trans of the same color as the item that's moving to show how it moves like a blur. You could look at what others have done with Quicksilver or Flash.
  9. So far, I've only bought the Gimli pack, but I plan to buy all the others just for support of the IP and because I can always use LOTR parts. Generally, I've been seeing most of the Fun Packs in good quantity - no are close to being sold out in my area. The Team Packs and Level packs have been doing much better and maybe an LOTR version of either could be a hit. Given how little Lego has used new parts in Dimensions and how potentially limited LOTR characters could be in Dimensions, I'm not overly hopeful. I mean, most LOTR characters are fighter types (with the obvious exceptions of Gandalf, Saruman, etc), so they wouldn't bring a ton of needed mechanics to the game.
  10. Not a bad way to up-sell. I wonder if the Pirate set wasn't doing well at that store. With all the new Lego coming out next year, it would make sense to clear space.
  11. Great review - thank you for posting it! I'm hoping this will be available before the end of the year and I can't see an item with such amount of material not seeing a US release. This to me feels like more than just a regular minifigure promo bag, because of the brick-built vehicle and the stickers (which are brilliant). That much effort means I'm thinking a US release. The real question for me, is if I can buy it on it's own or if I have to get it with purchase. With Rocket, I was able to buy a couple on it's own because the store employee did not realize it was part of a promo.
  12. Of the two, I only own the Slave 1, but I thoroughly enjoy the set. The scale is perfect for what can be achieved with Lego and the colors are uncommon or unique. I think the build is great and it really feels like the ultimate version of this vehicle. The only downside is the minifigure selection and it could benefited from at least one more bounty hunter to be included (two would have been amazing). Might have been a good chance to bring in Zuckuss or 4LOM. I've passed on the Sandcrawler and will probably never pick it up. It looks nice, but as a playset, I don't have much use for it. The minifigures also aren't really enough of a selling point - I have Luke and the two droids, I can make an Owen (and some of the other droids) easy enough, and the Jawas are just four copies of an army-builder. Just not really feeling it and the price is rough.
  13. As mentioned, Doctor Who is also coming out in the Ideas set in December. Rumor has it, the set will include the 11th and 12th Doctors, Clara, two Daleks, and a Weeping Angel.
  14. Ran into a freezing glitch twice on the Simpsons story level. Right after you beat Lord Business it freezes in the cut scene. I read this also happened to another person on another forum. On third try the cut scene glitched, but then went through. Kinda annoying, since we thought it might have been a defective disc or something.
  15. I think Gandalf could be the most likely to be swapped out. Batman and Wildstyle both have movies coming out during the next three years, so it would make sense to keep them. The thing with Gandalf would be replacing him with another character that would have the same powers (magical, ranged), so that nothing else in the core game is lost or unplayable. I think it would also have to be another licensed character to showcase that Dimensions is loaded with licenses.
  16. Topps just announced a Force Awakens Series 1 due out Dec 18th. It sounds like this set will focus solely on TFA. This means, the Journey set will take a back seat till then and funds will be saved for the full-fledged set of TFA cards.
  17. Thrilled that this won't be a January release. Right after the holidays and what's probably going to be the biggest movie of all time (Star Wars TFA), means funds would be super limited. July is a nice time for me to plan.
  18. Yep, those are the ones I've seen at Target. Surprising, since Target is alittle more reputable than, say, Walmart.
  19. I was just reading that Bridge Direct lost the license to make Hobbit action figures around the time of the last movie. I wonder if that's also when Lego lost it, given that the Bridge Direct and Hobbit/LOTR stuff dropped at the same time in 2012.
  20. For Chell, we had to play through some of the level to get the instructions for the Companion Cuber and Turret. It just paused the game when we got to those spots and gave us the instructions. Less intuitive than the Fun Packs.
  21. Picked up the Dimensions Gimli. It's the basic Gimli minifigure with a nice little axe cart build. Very Gimli appropriate. Haven't tried the LOTR level yet, but I'm optimistic. The disk for the Gimli has some nice rune printing, so that's something.
  22. I've been seeing some knock-off Lego super hero minifigures at Target in their $1-3 section. Come in packs of five, with generic colors that look obviously like licensed super heroes, such as an all green guy that looks like Hulk and a blue/red guy that looks like Cap A.
  23. I think the only thing stopping us from getting certain licenses is just whether the license has an existing toy/game of it's own. So, really just Marvel and Star Wars, because they have Infinity. DC won't pass up any of it's presence in Lego, since with Marvel not being included in Dimensions, DC monopolizes the super hero characters. Ninjago is Lego's own license, so no harm in making more material there.
  24. Picked up the starter, Jurassic World, Gimli, Portal, and Wonder Woman. WW is great for cheating areas with her flight and Invisible Jet - good for making the game easier. Chell's portal gun is rubbery and doesn't fit the minifigure's hand easily. The raptor isn't a bad build and I can see maybe making more (and in different colors). The game itself is really fun so far. The only tricky part is the intro and using the reader board to get out of traps. I also found that while the game loaded content it would bump us back to restarting the building of the portal device.
  25. Ahh, that makes sense. I've been reading on other forums of people who have been dropping some serious coin on some of the digital cards. Even Ebay has some pretty spendy listings. Maybe I'll get around to cracking into the free ones I have. Have you pulled anything good?
