  1. I think Star Wars fandom is at such a high that right now Lego could justify a NEW $500 Falcon. It would be huge press and Lego is just the kind of company that could pull it off. I mean, we're getting a Ghostbusters HQ for a franchise that is pretty dead at the moment (upcoming movie will change that), so why not go all out in an easy money win with Star Wars?
  2. "Sharks on the left" - I knew there'd be a Left Shark reference!
  3. Local Target restocked the minifigure cube by a lot - maybe 30+. If you're still looking for it, might be worth checking area Targets for the restock.
  4. I think you're in the Seattle area, right? Which TRU did you hit?
  5. TRU can be really shifty. Some stores always out out their stuff like their told and some stores have people who work there that know the value of the toys that come in and they buy them at some point in their shift and then flip them. Given that C-3PO is packed in just one large case, a person could get 50-100 at a time. This happens even with minifigures that are "get with purchase". I wouldn't worry. I'm betting red arm C-3PO will definitely come out in a future set before the next movie. Granted maybe with no arm printing, but good enough. Right now I wouldn't pay EBay/scalper prices on anything Star Wars because it's a feeding frenzy. Wait for things to die down later this year and the prices will be more manageable.
  6. Fantastic idea. I really like the modular/customizable design and how everything attaches. Lego should really consider a collectors type castle like this.
  7. I agree. It's nice to see an entry level set in an evergreen theme. It would be nice if Lego kept up a model like this every year or two for people just getting into Lego. Sure, keep some older stuff special with printing and whatnot, but having a supers team all in one box is a great idea.
  8. At the same time Luke didn't know about Jedi before Obi-Wan explained it to him. I've always thought the vastness of space and the Imperial cover-up of it all meant that most planets probably weren't completely aware of what was happening or had the entirely wrong impression. The Jedi purge was concocted under the idea that the Jedi tried to assassinate Palpatine and the Imperials went on the destroy much of the remaining Jedi culture, buildings, etc. And according to the recent TFA visual dictionary, it looks like Jakku is as removed or alittle more removed than Tatooine from the center of the galaxy.
  9. Well, from a writing standpoint, they just need to not have the planet killer moving directly towards the Rebels/Resistance right away. Maybe make it something that's roaming the galaxy looking for the heroes, but easily finding them. That way the planet killer can build some suspense in the search and travel.
  10. I think all the sets make sense from the point of view that Lego got limited prelim pics to work off of. I think the only item that may not line up just right is Rey's Speeder, given that she fights an Unkar thug in town. I'd also add that as Phasma did nothing in this movie, her role in a set should have been much smaller. And she may not even warrant a constraction figure just yet. But again, that's due to the reliance on prelim material.
  11. As mentioned those scenes were way too choreographed. And while they looked good, it didn't have the raw energy and emotion of, say, Vader vs Luke 2. Sword fights never ever look like they did in the prequels.
  12. I just want to see one super, planet blowing weapon make through a movie. Just once. This is the third that went down after we're first introduced to it. Kidding aside, the story did tread a lot over past material. I thought the pacing was good, as it didn't need to go into a lot of explaining of concepts like the Force, etc. the action was good and the dialog didn't feel forced. Kylo actually looked better than I thought he would once he was really moving around and whatnot. Plus the lightsaber fights were better than those in the prequels. Han dying and the limited answers to questions even in the trailer was the worst part. I know Harrison Ford has never like playing Han Solo, but I think the rumors are correct that he only came back because JJ told him Han would die. I think getting killed by his own shows that Kylo is really far into the dark side, but there's no real explanation as to why that happened. At least with Anakin, there was Sidious pulling some strings and a preggo Padme. I'm hoping we flash back to something that explains why Kylo has daddy issues. And we needed more answers - especially Rey. I was really thinking Luke would wrap that up in some small way. Here's hoping Mara Jade shows up and proves Rey is Luke and Mara's kid.
  13. It's common knowledge here (and elsewhere) that Hasbro put their foot down to stop Lego from making the magnets in the unglued form. None of the magnet sets really had minifigures that were detracting from set purchases. It's tricky because different companies have different licensing agreements. I know some people (myself included) are still hoping when the current Hasbro license expires in 2017 that Disney might be able to renegotiate something for Lego to make CMF Star Wars and Marvel characters.
  14. Hasbro doesn't own the license for DC action figures. Mattel and NECA do to varying degrees. Hasbro has been really firm with their Star Wars license which made Lego back off from the magnets they once made, but it's unknown what's in the license Mattel/NECA has so maybe there's a chance at a DC CMF line.
  15. I bought wall shelves from Target that were cheap. I was also working on a budget, so I didn't want to go crazy. They hold up well enough to display some scenes I made on standard baseplates, so the weight seems acceptable.
  16. If I might, only the torsos had unique printing (and the norse woman's dress), otherwise everything can be found (or close enough) in the current Lego line. Thus, the prices are really just for one part of a minifigure and that's a lot to absorb. Maybe creating a theme of torsos would be better. It could keep costs down (only one part) and create something that people could want all of. For example, ten different Castle/Fantasy torsos would make people want to collect all of them.
  17. I like that industrial shelving unit idea. You're right that the open design would help MOCs that don't conform to specific spaces. I use a lot of wall mounted shelves which have worked well thus far. I have different lengths and depths and just arrange things according to those sizes. I'd also recommend IKEA or the like for cheap disposable display options.
  18. Either of the Star Wars choices. With Star Wars blowing currently, sets are going to be selling out faster than normal. Other themed sets will still be accessible, but I doubt a lot of Star Wars material will be around after the holidays. If I had to choose between the two, I would also go with the Naboo Starfighter.
  19. I'll have to look for this in store before it's too late. I already have one, but I love the parts colors - gold and sand green - and the minifigures are great. Plus... Smaug...
  20. Giant Man is the clear winner in terms of excitement in this wave. Otherwise, nothing that I have to have immediately, so at least I can wait for good discount prices. I feel like as quality goes, Lego is definitely trying, it's just alittle bit of a different direction than I'd hoped. Especially after the stellar AoU wave.
  21. I'm avoiding the SW section (and SW thread in the media section) from today till Sunday, but otherwise the rest of the site should be spoiler free. I'm not going to see the movie till Sunday, due to holiday commitments, so not a long wait. I just don't want to chance it. Yes, Eurobricks is a great community, but sometimes people don't always use the spoiler tags.
  22. I don't keep any boxes. I used to keep all of them, but I found I had too many and wasn't what I was saving them for. Same with sealed sets, I used to keep some but then starting asking myself what the point was. Now I just have three sealed sets and a few sealed polybags. The instructions are good enough for me for pics of the set.
  23. Higher prices are higher prices. I'm not here to discuss/debate economics across the world, but when sets go up in price the person accustom to buying them feels it. I have no control over pricing in your country and whereas I would hope those prices would be amicable to you, I can say that these higher prices are not amicable to me. Absolutely, you pay more for Lego than I do, but that has nothing to do with my complaint over potentially rising prices in my area.
  24. Wait, $60? Are we seeing another price spike in Star Wars or just TFA Star Wars? I don't think this is across the board because other 2016 lines seem to be priced well.
  25. I felt like the trailer focused on too much of the same rhetoric from past X-Men movies - mutant leaders are weak and so all mutants should flock to this new leader. In previous movies Magneto tried to convince mutants to fight for him and now Apocalypse is trying to convince mutants to fight for him. I think they should spin a different angle.
