Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion
HawkLord replied to Quicksilver's topic in LEGO Licensed
I had heard the polybag was out in some areas, but I don't think it'll maintain that price long. The Spidey and the Venom head aren't all that special. Might just be people jumping on the idea that Spidey is in CW and trying to cash in since he's not in another set yet. -
I'll add that if you're interested in the subscription programs and don't mind doing alittle legwork to flip some, they can reduce the cost of the program's greatly. For example, I got the Marvel program last year for $150 plus shipping. That gets you six boxes, which include one Pop (half the time it's two Pops), other goodies, a shirt, and a comic. I sold four Pops during that year for about $20 each and I sold some of the other assorted items for alittle less. In total, I think I came close to making back like 50% of what I spent and that was after I kept what I wanted. I also never sold a shirt, so I have six shirts, three Pops (including the large Hulkbuster), and some other assorted items. It's not a bad deal considering you could factor each shirt as being around $15-20 themselves. I started the Star Wars program this year and got the chase in the first box. I was able to sell that for $70, which means my $150 investment in the year is already almost cut in half. So, if you're interested in selling (or trading) the subscription can be viable.

[MOC] Wiggler from Nintendo's Mario games
HawkLord replied to Swan Dutchman's topic in Special LEGO Themes
All I can say is that it looks perfect to the source material. I wouldn't change a thing. Really nicely done! I think an angry version would make for a great display. -
I should start by saying, it's not that I'm against Bionicle, it's just that I've never been drawn to it. Bionicle and Hero Factory just never appealed to me as a Lego fan. Neither fits in with any of my preferred styles of Lego work and I haven't had any good ideas on how to place them in minifigure scale. The characters and general storyline of Bionicle are unknown to me - I couldn't tell you who the good guys and bad guys are (I will add that the color schemes kinda help this) and I have no idea what they're fighting for or why. I attribute this to the general lack of story in the product and advertising. I find that I just don't care because Lego isn't really giving me a reason to with Bionicle. With other lines, I can see a bit more of the story even if I don't directly understand it. When I look at Ninjago, I see named ninja characters fighting ninja ghosts. I can get that, even in just a simple way. When I look at Chima, I see animal-people fighting other animal-people. I can get that the alligator guys look bad and the lion guys look good. But Bionicle doesn't really have that for me. I own one constraction figure - Star Wars Darth Vader. As a huge Star Wars collector, he looks cool and is something of a display piece. He works because in this robotic format, Vader who is part robot, seems to make total sense. Now the other Star Wars constraction figures to me don't make sense. The human based characters look blocky and too robotic to make sense. Realistically, I only see myself getting Greivous and Jango and skipping the rest of the line. And even then, those three will be on a shelf together, as like I said they don't fit into any other Lego themes I have. I hope Bionicle does well if it can find a good footing. I think it could be more successful if the designs had even more of a robotic theme to them. Maybe make them something like Gundam/Macross/etc, where the figures are robots with minifigure pilots or something to connect them to City or Space. I think the distance from basic Lego hurts Bionicle.

Boba Fett is almost a given. I could see a case for other bounty hunters to be included.

Really great design, colors, and execution. All the Easter Eggs are awesome.

Another set of wins! These just get better and better.

[MOC] Kylo Ren Lightsaber hilt made using LEGO
HawkLord replied to demonhunter1988's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I think it looks great in black. Very well done and extremely detailed. As close to a real prop as you could get with Lego. -
I think Lego can just run the current Rebel and Imperial battlepacks for some time and both will be relevant to Rogue One and the Fett and Solo movies. It's be nice actually to see a battlepack stay out for a few years.
-
You should spoiler tag that...
-
Exactly. No entry level $20 set and probably no battlepacks later. Even if there is a cool new trooper type in the movie, they probably will release it in a larger set. Surprising since even Marvel is following a trend of at least one movie per year, but they offer $20 sets.

This. It makes no sense because no one outside of a few close friends knows who Indy is. It makes sense for Robin (Batman's sidekick) to have a mantle passed on because the world knows who is. Same with Captain America or any other superhero. Indy is a guy, not a symbol like a superhero.

I read one review which indicates there is not an after credit scene.

I thought/assumed it would be Ewok Village.

Probably not till Episode VIII or next year's May 4th? There's really no logical set to put him in, unless Lego wants to make the cliff-side staring match with him and Rey.
-
The figure itself is not terrible, it's just not May 4th worthy. And it certainly pales in comparison to other upcoming promos, like the classic Mr. Freeze the DC fans are getting in April.

Or if they had used the Jurassic World ACU tactical vest in white. Does he have a 2x1 flat plate on his back? Maybe printed?
-
I keep hoping that the Hoth UCS and now this are all to lower our expectations so that the DS just rocks everyone's world.
-
I guess with the kind of money Lego is making now, they don't need the usual strong mid-year bump from May 4th sales.

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion
HawkLord replied to Quicksilver's topic in LEGO Licensed
According to the May store calendar posted in the Star Wars section, the Cap on motorcycle polybag will be available May 27th - 30th with purchase of $35 or more. -
Wow... now that Darth Binks is looking a whole lot better! I've been wondering if I should wait for some Lego purchases till May 4th and the answer is now a resounding "no". This looks to be the least most successful polybag ever. It'll probably go for less on the secondary market than Hoth Han. And given how the polybag Clone Lt appeared later in a set, with years more of TFA left, I'm betting we see this print again.
-
Wait, Malibu Stacy with retooled hat and Darth Binks polybag two-pack?!?! Once I get that, I'm retiring from Lego...
-
I heard it's free with a $5000 purchase at Lego stores. Limit one per person/household.
