Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion
HawkLord replied to Quicksilver's topic in LEGO Licensed
I would deduce, if I read this literally, that the set being $50 puts in in the four minifigure range. I could also conclude that "repeated minifigures" is more that one and at least one minifigure is rumored to be Spidey. That means potentially Spidey, repeats (probably two) and maybe one other new minifigure, at best. -
The mold line on the yellow bird... I can almost see through him...

On Vader, it looks like the torso has been segmented to improve posability. The shoulders look dropped alittle bit. And then there's the obvious inclusion of hands and it looks like better forearms. Overall, it's a nice stylized look, but I kinda prefer the bulk of the Lego Vader.

That Bat-Pod looks fantastic, but that display plate is very professional and almost steals the show. The embossing looks outstanding.

I had heard something along the lines that Ford only agreed to play Solo in TFA if they killed Solo off and he was given the go-ahead for another Indy movie. Again, speculation, because Ford dislikes Solo, but loves Indy.

Yes, in the NK news section. It isn't out yet, though.

New Lava Monster battlepack in the Nexo Knight line might be useful material for Uruk-Hai. It's kind of stretch, I know, but it's something.
-
Those battlepacks are pretty good. Very smart of Lego to stop those this early in the line. Lots of good Castle/Fantasy/LOTR material there on the monster side.

Lol! It's a blessing and a curse. More tips - if you do get into the mystery minis, check online for figure distributions schematics per box. People will post where in the box they got certain figures, which ensures you get the figure that you want, since Funko uses the same pattern for each box of a given IP. Note that this only works on boxes that haven't been shuffled or moved around by other people or store employees - only new boxes that have not been tampered. Also, check GameStop for the Vinyl Idolz. I've seen at least one store clearance them.

Nightmare Batman is a pretty cool figure. I've been impressed with all the BvS figures with the more "action" poses. Yep, Miles Morales Spidey was a Collector Corp exclusive. If you haven't checked out Collector Corp, definitely take a look - it's Funko's Marvel subscription. I've found it to be well worth the money for the Pops and shirts; I even sold some Pops I haven't want which has helped the total cost. Funko has one for DC, as well, and the first box contains a BvS Armored Batman.
-
No, there are just a number of stores that carry Funko Pops in various capacities. Barnes and Nobles, Target, Hot Topic, GameStop, FYE, Wahlgreens, and probably others I'm forgetting. Some stores even get exclusives, which are either reprints or completely exclusive figures. Then there's the subscription programs for Star Wars, Marvel, and DC. Each box of that subscription contains at least one exclusive Pop, sometimes two. Speaking of which, the Star Wars box this month was great - two Pops, Ben Kenobi (sorta action pose) and Snaggletooth (with the possibility of getting Red or Blue, with Blue being the chase). Also found FN-2187 today, which is a Target store exclusive.

Polybags can vary across the board. Generally, pricing can depend on how one gets the polybag (get with purchase, buy off the shelf), how rare or sought after the character is, and how limited a release it sees. For example, Star Wars Darth Revan is a highly sought after polybag, because it was one offered by the Lego store (which is limited to some collectors) and only available with purchase of a specific amount. This means some collectors missed it by not having access to a Lego store or choose not to spend the requisite amount. Polybags that you can buy direct in stores tend to be much more common and less valuable. Marvel GotG Rocket was widely available at TRU for $4 and was based on a character already appearing in a set. This has made the polybag Rocket worth less than the Rocket appearing in the set. For me, if it's a polybag I really want, I try to get two. One for sealed and one for open. This was true with 2012 Hulk, 2013 Han and Clone, and 2014 Revan. For your specific example, I would open Electro - he's not that valuable right now and his price is not likely to increase.

Well played!

Don't quite know the technical terms, but found flat studs in silver and overhang 2x1 plates in green at the local PAB. Score for me, as those are some of my favorites.

I'm amazed at that because the 2014 X-Men set was a purchase-on-sight for me. Yea, it could have been better, but at least it was some X-Men. -

Check eBay or reddit. But, yes it's just Spidey #3 with the blue parts on black. It's not officially a CW version, it's just coming out alongside all the new CW Pops. -
They're definitely worth it given the price - anywhere from $9-12 in stores like Barnes and Nobles, Hot Topic, GameStop, Target, etc. But with that said they can be very addictive. I find I'm branching out because they cover so many IPs.

I would think a Daredevil minifigure at this time would draw attention to the new show, which is not PG-13. It would almost make it appear as though Lego was making a kids toy for something that's not a kids show. I would assume that's why Lego is distant from Daredevil and the like. They're worried someone's gonna buy a Lego set and then watch a graphic show and then blame Lego. Do I agree with this? In principle, yes, because sometimes parents and kids can be dumb. -

Hot Topic released a red/black Spidey Pop this week. It's not Civil War related, but it's no coincidence that it dropped the same week as the Spidey trailer. It's a repaint of Spidey #3 with the blue areas painted black. Also, check out my Pop thread in the Culture/Media section. It'd be great to trade news and sightings like this. -
Hey, topic to discuss Funko collectibles. Funko makes a number of assorted items from popular IPs in different formats - Pop, Dorbz, Wacky Wobblers, mugs, keychains, etc. I thought this would be a good place to add a discussion, as the collectibles themselves remind me a lot of Lego, since they look like stylized versions of the IPs - kinda like Lego minifigures in a way. I personally have been collecting Pops for about a year and really started when they released the Marvel Collector Corp program. It's a subscription program where once every two months they send you a box of products, primarily with a Pop but also containing other Funko collectibles. Similar to Loot Crate or Nerd Block, but only with Funko products. I've enjoyed that enough that I've also subscribed to their Smuggler's Bounty program, which is the same just with Star Wars. Currently, I'm hunting down some of the Star Wars TFA and Marvel Civil War retail store exclusives. I mostly keep the exclusive ones boxed and open non-exclusives. My wife even has some that she displays at work. So, anyone else into Pops?

Maybe that was the plan - lower our expectations with the Hoth set and then blows us away with the DS.

I'm betting it's still gonna happen. Just be patient, it's all part of the build-up that Disney is creating. For example, if you've ever heard of Funkp Pop vinyl figures, they just released a Spidey exclusive figure this week. No one saw it coming and it was not previewed. Yet there it is - Spidey in the trailer, Spidey merchandise. -
Do you want the Lego collectible bubble to burst?
HawkLord replied to Gomek's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well, the high secondary market prices help give Lego more attention. When Lego boomed in 2013-2014, I routinely saw online articles about expensive sets on the secondary and that caused people to go all crazy and buy sets up. The more attention Lego gets and the more likely sets "appear" to be an investment, the more Lego sells. To maintain that imagine, Lego has to prove the concept of investment, which is why they have no interest in the secondary market. Let UCS Falcon and various other sets and minifigures stay at ridiculous prices, Lego can just come out with alternative versions (rather than direct reissues) and it won't hurt the secondary, but provide even more sales. -
Great review and pics. Awesome research on the uncommon parts - it's always interesting to see where else they've appeared. Overall, this one definitely is not for me. I'm still surprised it made it through approval, as it seems just so limited. I can't find an elegant way of putting it, but I just don't feel like this one pops the way other Cuusoo/Ideas sets have. Reminds me of the Birds set. I just don't know what to do with it.

As long as the SDCC exclusive is not an X-Men, it'll be ok. Otherwise, SDCC exclusive X-Men = slap in the face.
