No, back before Lucas really knew what he was doing with the colors, he considered all colors an option. So, Adi Gallia had a reddish one, Mace had a blue one, etc. Then Samuel L. Jackson wanted a purple one to stand out in AOTC while it was filming and it was around that time that Lucas pulled all sabers back to green or blue for Jedi to help Mace stand out. Edit: I should add that later the EU did establish lightsaber colors for particular professions of Jedi in the Old Republic.

It used to not always mean that. Back in the TPM days, Adi Gallia had a red saber according to the Hasbro action figure.

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion
HawkLord replied to Quicksilver's topic in LEGO Licensed
It's probably more doable than you think, if you flip the minifigures. I did the same thing when I bought copies of the Star Wars Cantina. After selling the minifigures and one Dewback, the cost was much more manageable. -
Get a Chima head and make CapWolf...

I can agree that toys are designed to be played with and once process has begun, there's no way to qualify how long the toy should be expected to last. Yes, the majority of them should have a reasonable life, but there's no clear definition of "play". I distinctly remember breaking a Transformers Optimus Prime toy and those things were made with die-cast metal. I think it's impossible to identify specific parameters on something so abstract. Lego puts them through play-testing of their own and have found them suitable for the market in their current form.

Every time I see a thread like this, it gets me all paranoid and go check my minifigures at the soonest opportunity I get. I ended up doing that last night. For reference, I keep probably 90% of my minifigures in tackle-boxes. The other 10% are on display in some way either in MOCs or on shelves. The whole minifigure collection gets rotated periodically, so most minifigures see the light of day. All my Lego are stored in an upstairs room, where the temperature can fluctuate during the year from very warm to brisk. I don't do anything to moderate the temperature. They have been stored in this fashion for two years and previously had been stored in a similar fashion at our old place. My collection dates from current to 2009. In reviewing a good sample of the minifigures, I have found no broken minifigure parts. I did find one broken saddle clip from a LOTR horse.

Great pics, thank you for posting those. Ghost Rider looks incredible, very aggressive. And those flame and spidey web pieces... Perfect Spider-Man wave. -

Honestly, when people post incorrect or misleading information it's not easy to trust them again in the future, regardless of their stature as someone with advanced knowledge. -
Admittedly, I haven't watched the show, so I'm really not the prime audience. With that said I have bought sets from EU that I knew nothing about, but there isn't much here that would convince to pick it up. The minifigure selection seems small (could use another minifigure or two) and clones without helmets seem boring. Add in that I have the AT-TE from 2013 and feel reasonably able to kitbash that into something like this and I have a set I'll be passing on.

Probably forever. Lego and Disney have such a good relationship now and I don't think either wants to damage it, so I doubt anything will changes. Disney knows Lego is a great family name brand. I think Disney is being way less greedy than Lucas was, so even though the TFA sets were pricey, I'm not thinking it's the new norm.

I wait for discounts or double VIP for most sets. The only sets I've truly missed out on we're the early Cuusoo/Idea sets but those were produced in smaller numbers. Generally, you have at least a year for the average licensed set and longer for non-licensed.

Agreed and that's what I meant. Basically, the previous Sentinel set kinda paralleled the DoFP movie, so I'd hope for an Apocaylpse set to parallel the upcoming movie. -
That PaB wall is also not even funny... all those options!

Help - Painting Rubber Elements
HawkLord replied to DuckBricks's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
As a minis painter, I would recommend using a spray white primer for a base and then a spray yellow paint for the color. The reason being that it's really hard to paint a light color on a dark base - we see this all the time in Lego (Captain America). Just make sure to use super light coats. -
I would agree that breaking up the color helps a lot with the overall look. You see the same thing with forest terrain - when people use one shade of green, it does get the effect, but when people use multiple shades of green and throw in other random colors, it changes things drastically. I would recommend different shades of blue and maybe even some varying sections, like a shoreline or rocky outcrops to help break up the blue and give it more action.

Hairlines, styles, and colors affect all universes! This is the next cross-over event... The Search for the Perfect Hair. But really that Dr. Strange set sounds great. Just like the Ant-Man one. If Lego would just release a small 300-400 piece set for every movie (and, of course large ones for bigger movies, like Avengers) that would be perfect. I know no one in Marvel want to help Fox, but a small 300-400 piece set for X-Men Apocaylpse would have hardly any impact and certainly wouldn't take away money from Marvel. -
Shortage of pants in the Star Wars universe...

Brick Bank - best one of the lot. Looks great, fantastic price-per-brick cost. Faces are boring, but easily fixed. Ghostbusters HQ - way too pricey. I wish they would have reduced the size and cost. I love Ghostbusters, but not enough to drop that much on it. Assault on Hoth - now Star Wars, I would drop a ton on and have, but this is just a compilation of past Star Wars Hoth sets. There's virtually nothing new or worthwhile. Now granted, I have a larger Hoth collection because I've been collecting for the past seven years, but even people just getting into Star Wars can amass a Hoth collection fairly easily. Batman Batcave - I liked the old show, but no where near enough to pick up the set. As it is, it just doesn't pop. There's something about it that feels like it could have been more. Or even less and cheaper. Minecraft - I don't know anything about Minecraft, so I probably don't have anything overly interesting to say.

Thin Hairline Crack on my Thin Hairline Piece
HawkLord replied to Actor Builder's topic in General LEGO Discussion
On the flip side, literally none of my Lego are in any state of damage despite being on display or in use. It really all depends on your particular experiences, but for me Lego is not declining in quality. In promotions and exclusives, that's another story... I would add that if multiple people are experiencing the same problem with a particular piece, that would be noteworthy to bring to Lego's attention. I hope the OP gets a new piece, I'm sure Lego will come through.- 17 replies

Post Your Superhero Minifig Collections Here!
HawkLord replied to c0rnedfr0g's topic in LEGO Licensed
Probably not till his next solo movie with Wasp. Right now, given that we have a set with mini Antman and Giant-Man, the regular minifigure sized Antman in that set is the only to get it and I doubt minifigure Antman will appear in another CW set. With CW coming out soon, minifigure Antman's price will stay steady or go up as the craze hits. I would wait till a couple months from now when it settles down. Deadpool saw a similar trend where his minifigure price popped just after his movie came out, but now the price is going down. -
PM sent. As mentioned, it would be better not to warn people and then post the very things you're warning them about.

I thought there was something like a six month lead time for Lego. Six months to make the stuff and then get it to the shelves.

Why say "I'm not trying to spoil anything" and then drop two spoilers?

I think they work really well even without new pieces. Prints and faces would be good enough for me.

That's correct. There's very little going for this exclusive, which is probably why it's not running long.
