  1. Holding his cigarette in his mouth, Felix tried to weave the basic hand seals to summon an entity from beyond this world, carefully and slowly mimicking the examples on the holo scroll that lay before him. Muttering some vague incantation accompanying the signals, he focused his mind on the matter and managed to conjure a tiny fiery circle built up of lines and sigils, before it vanished into nothingness again as fast as it came, leaving nothing but a puff of black smoke and some dying embers on the bar. "Hmm, that was ... less than I had hoped for," Felix said to no in particular as he swept the dust off the bar top. In the back of his head he heard a faint voice, though. An unfamiliar voice echoing a sense of surprise, but Felix couldn't quite make up the message. A hint of sulfury smell permeated the air, which the Chimeran quickly waved away. "Enough of that for today, I guess," he thought and started packing his stuff. Looking around he noticed Varen still sitting there and then decided to check up on his companion. "Kicking it back some post-mission, eh? I feel you. That sure was a memorable first ride, if you ax me. Watchu havin'?" Felix tapped his fingers on the bar top in a melodic fashion. "This plays needs a band or something, y'know? I bit liveliness."
  2. Another exotic addition to your city. I like the purple building more, because of the crazy angles, but this one is great as well. I love the use of the teeth as architectural elements. It makes me think of the Indian buildings from Age of Empires 3. Great color scheme on this one as well. It's not often you these vibrant buildings.
  3. This is so cool! The varying angles you've used for this give the building SO much character and personality, certainly when coupled with the exotic and outlandish color scheme. I also love the use of the old school small windows. It give the building a real Indian quality. Nice to the building integrated with the others as well.
  4. I'd love to build another MOC in this style - larger perhaps, like a home or something - but I don't have enough bricks, I think. The spider was actually an addition out of necessity since I ran out of 'normal' tiles . Glad you like it. It does add to the general vibe. Thanks! The brick gothic buildings of the Hanseatic League and later neogothic were definitely an inspiration. They are definitely a real Essian army detachment, but the guy from the introduction was so drunk that he mistook a soldier for a demon. There's a short description of the unit in the general overview of Essen I made.
  5. Like I said previously, this is already a great MOC even though it's visibly still far from completely finished. The towers are well-designed, but the bridge and its functionality are equally amazing. Hopefully you will regain access to your files someday and be able to finish this bad boy. This MOC deserves to get finished .
  6. Excellent brick movie! Everything about it is just phenomenal. I love the introduction explaining the historical aspects of things and I love how the movie builds up with a view through the trenches. The sound effects, lighting etc. are all really well-done! Lots of brick movies tend to look sloppy because of poor lighting and action, but yours does not disappoint. Some scenes continue a bit to long for my liking, but perhaps that's a side effect of a brick film, since Lego action is slower than real-life action in a real movie. Don't know what else I can say. It checks all the boxes for me. I also love the smoke and blood effects. How long did this take you to make? It must've been hours of shooting footage and then cutting/editing .
  7. Excellent build! I love the usage of the 1x2 reddish brown jumpers sticking out of the wall. You really nailed the style of Port Woodhouse, with an added touch of your own .
  8. Felix returned to the Hall after a first successful mission and intense training session in Heroica's facilities. Content with the outcome of the mission, he felt relieved his first tour as mission leader didn't end in disaster. The return to Aetherspace brought back some painful memories, however. Walking to the Mission Board, he contemplated if he was going to order a heavier drink than milk this time, to wash away the eerie feeling hanging in the back of his mind, but decided against it. "Looks like Heroica's been busy," he mused as he saw the new Missions. He shuddered at the thought of the cold snow and the matted fur it'd give him, but decided to enter his name anyway. "Better than sitting around in the ol' appartment, I guess." Spotting Varen at the bar, Felix nodded and smiled in his direction as a way of greeting his newfound friend. Right now, however, the Chimeran decided to take a seat by himself in a corner and took out his e-pad to further study the Occult. Intently reading its contents, he lit a cigarette in a nearly automated motion without even taking his eyes off the screen. The events of the Mission had left an impression on the detective and the old habit of delving into cases dies hard. He was keen to find out how to bind Familiars from the otherworld to this world and make them do your bidding. He figured if he understood what it was all about, the knowledge would aid him in future hypothetical encounters with similar beings from the Dark Realm. If anything, a repetition of the events at Lupin's was something Felix wanted to avoid at all costs. Felix signs up for #5 and #6
  9. Felix strolled into the training room, looking around not sure what to make of it. Whilst wandering around he softly hit one of the punching bags he passed, making it wiggle in the air. No longer in his prime, the Chimeran yearned to be as fleet of foot as he once was and started putting in some training. Afterwards, he headed to the library to looked into the realm of the Occult and see if he could learn more about it. Current CP: 4/13 Skill: 2 → 3 (2CP spent) Short Range Weapons: 1 → 2 (2CP spent) Spirit: 1 → 2 (2CP spent) Nature 1 → Occult 1 (new spells: Illusory Clone, Spirit Ally) CP after training 0/13
  10. Aetherspace made me think of the Matrix or the internet universe from Wreck-It-Ralph . I liked the Lars and Molly ambiguous will-they-won't-they relationship, hah. I was trying to get a finite answer from one of them, but they kept it vague. It was a fun addition that made the characters feel "alive". Wow, I did not catch on that Polaris was a character with a disability. In that case, I'm starting to understand the addition of MILES somewhat more. That's actually a clever combination. Like I said, Polaris definitely has a lot of potential. I think the main reason for the "lack" of interaction for me personally was that I didn't really know what to expect from Polaris as a character. With Varen I already knew that he was an ex-lawyer etc., which is also alluded to in the character's train of thoughts and inner monologues. Like I said in my previous post: it was definitely also a case of me still looking how to play Felix. As the game progresses and I find his "character" more, I'm sure it'll start getting easier to interact with everybody else. That being said, I will pay more attention to interacting with Polaris if we end up being on the same mission again. More of an ex-detective/private eye in general, but less brooding and dark. Not specifically John Constantine. But I think after this quest I might start looking into spending some points on Occult. I'll see.
  11. Is this where we post our post-mission thoughts? If not, I'll repost these somewhere else. First off: I really enjoyed the mission. The story was simple, yet exciting and fresh enough to get started in this new era of Heroica. It introduced the White Knights organization and ended mysteriously with hints at further plot lines in the dark realm. It also served as a nice introduction to aetherspace as a location and story element. The sets were great and really pulled you into the world, which I really loved. Well done! Character design was also top notch, as were the different personalities and relationships. Like I stated multiple times during the mission: I was personally still learning the new system. I'm more of a hands-on person to learn new things, than reading and remembering everything in detail. Also being used to old Heroica made me sometimes not use 2.0's new system to its full advantage. Therefore, I think we as a party sometimes made the battles more difficult for ourselves by not using all the available mechanics. Nearing the end of the quest, I was starting to get the hang of things a bit more. The final battle seemed really daunting at first, but I'm glad we pulled through as a team. Luckily, Polaris was a heavy hitter with medical skills: a very welcome and direly needed addition to the team. That being said: wow, healers are needed in 2.0 more than in 1.0, I believe. Heroica 1.0 started of with several Clerics, but I don't think there are that much healers/supporters in 2.0 as of yet (?). But boy, are they needed. Especially since this was a first quest and no one had the money or resources to buy a lot of potions, it was really difficult to keep the team "healthy" during combat and it was especially hard when someone went down. It added to excitement of the battles, since characters can die now, but I can imagine it looked kind of bleak for KOTZ at times . It would've really sucked to see Varen die in Mission 1. But like I said: it's part of the game and certainly adds and extra layer to combat, which I applaud. Just for completeness' sake, I'll add in my 2 cents on the party as well. The party: Varen: Loved the character already in the hall. Genuinely had to laugh at some of the jokes. I hated to see him bleed out helpless on the floor with the prospect of death without being able to do much. I don't know what can be done to make a dying character more "fun" to play, because now there were several rounds where you couldn't do anything because of Varen dying, which was too bad. I can imagine it can bum someone out or take you out of the story. I don't know if that is the reason, but nearing the end of the quest I got the impression you were being less active? Like I said: I do love the character, though. The whole ex-lawyer, smooth talking, party hard gig is so cool. I also liked that he represents a certain aspect of the "law" just like Felix used to be a different part of the "law", so there's a bit of a connection already. I was hoping to delve into the RP'ing somewhat more, but I'm still kind of searching for the right footing for my character as well, so I haven't used the RP possibilities to their full potential sadly. Polaris: I like that Polaris is a genuinely nice character. The addition of MILES is (IMO) a bit superfluous. I don't see his use story-wise, as of yet. It also makes that you sometimes turn to MILES for RP'ing instead of the other players. Most of the interaction I recall between our characters was strictly business, which is okay but perhaps also a missed opportunity because there was potential for more since both characters are Chimerans and there's definitely potential in Polaris as a character. An added plus are your medical skills and melee strength. I think Polaris was truly the MVP of this mission. Felix: Like I said in General Discussion already: I'm still looking for the right tone of voice or characteristics of the character. I really loved RP'ing as Eric in the past, but I know he only got to where he was in the end because of many quests and trial-and-error to find the essence of the character. I find myself slipping back into "Eric mannerisms" at times when typing up stuff for Felix, which I then correct and make more friendly. Because in the end, that's what I want the character to be (for starters): a good guy with a strong moral compass who will try to help others, but with some rough edges at times. Somewhere between a noir detective and spaghetti western cowboy, but less brooding and dark. I've played the cunning, snarky character already so I definitely want something a different now. I loved seeing the description of the mission popping up at first, because aetherspace was a part of Felix's background I came up with from the start so it matched perfectly. Like I said already: I didn't fully grab all opportunities, but the base is there.
  12. I think Polaris is giving away her two items to us. Felix accepts Polaris' leftover Adrenaline Decoction, somewhat puzzled. "Thanks, that's mighty kind of you. Sure you won't need it?"
  13. Yup, this was definitely the direction I was going for. Having finished the first mission now, I will retailor some Proficiencies, I think. I took the Night Sight spell for RP purposes, since he's a cat; but gameplay-wise I think I can spend the points better.
  14. Felix nodded in appreciation and smiled. "We just did our jobs, is all. Glad to have been of assistance." "Gotta stand for something in life, right. I try to help out where I can," Felix replied confidently. As he turned to leave, the Chimeran addressed Lars oncel ast time: "Watch yourself, Lars. Trust Molly on this and don't rush things. The Dark Realm and Aetherspace can be treacherous places." He tried to suppress a slight wince as a past memory drifted through his mind. Felix was glad he had been able to save Lars and lead the party out, but the debacle brought back visions of the friends he had lost there. Lost on his account, because they followed his lead and his gut. They weren't so lucky and never got out. Forcing a smile, he uttered a heartfelt "goodbye" and left the White Knight headquarters.
  15. Sorry for replying so late, guys! I was unexpectedly out of the house yesterday and didn't have time to catch up. Felix crossed his arms and listened attentively to what Varen had to say. After all, he was - or used to be - the lawyer: a man of words and someone used to provide plausible explanation. The Chimeran nodded in agreement with the general outlines Varen painted of the situation. "The whole business smells if you ask me. I doubt little else can come out of this, except nefarious things. While we didn't find any direct evidence that they've already successfully transplanted consciousness from one aetherdiver to another, the creature certainly tried to add our consciousness to its hive mind collective." Felix slightly winced as he recalled the feeling. "Not exactly a fun experience and I doubt it holds much medical relevance. It raises a lot of concerns and questions, if you ask me. The dark realm isn't something to mess with, feel me?" "We did what we had to do to retrieve your man. All damage was merely material, which pales in comparison to the value of your agent's life. Property can be replaced. We only inspected what we needed to, to solve this case and whatever data we uncovered remains confidential," Felix stated, slightly agitated. He didn't particularly care for this materialistic and economical look on things. "We did what was promised: bring home Lars alive. In the end, that's all that matters. There's more to life than numbers on a corporate bank account." "It's Lupin's responsibility to keep their research as shielded and safely away from people as possible, as not to harm anyone. That includes Thudaal." Felix sniffed and flared his nostrils. "They could've at least given a heads up to your organization about housing a possible psychic threat, so you could take that in account when assigning the patrol." The Chimeran continued, still rather agitated by the accusations. He waved away the legal threat. "If they have a problem with how we handled things, they can deal with it through me. Face to face, like man. I ain't afraid of some suits. They can keep their legal actions for themselves." He tried to calm himself down and smiled friendly at Oddsphere. "It was a pleasure working with you, though. I always love working with professionals. Do not hesitate to call for us again if need arises." "I believe we are finished here?"
  16. Will they stash gold inside?
  17. Thanks! Since I tried to limit myself to mostly one color (with added black accents) I tried to mix up the shapes somewhat to keep it interesting, so it's not all completely square and blocky.
  18. A freebuild to add to the index.
  19. I saw this on Flickr and I loved it immediately. The style of it is so fitting for Corrington and the time period. It looks like something the actual EITC would've build. Great job! Is there also an interior or do you have plans do add an interior?
  20. Lovely lighthouse and great addition to Nouveau Oleandia. I have to echo blackdeathgr, though: a bit more depth to the houses would've been nice. They look kind of flat now. The jetty on the other hand looks really characterful. Fun addition to the scene.
  21. Thanks Kai, glad you like it! The Photoshopped picture is a bit too dark I think, but it gets the general vibe across. Dark red is actually one of the colors I actually own a lot of bricks of . I really wanted to emulate the northern European/German brick gothic style, so I figured dark red was the best fit here. Thanks! I love the gloomy architectural style too. It's fun to build something different from the usual Oléon style.
  22. "I'm fine, thanks. I think we've wrapped everything up here," Felix replied. He smiled playfully and boastfully stated: "I told you we'd bring your man back. You can count on us to get things done." "Alright, let's head to Oddsphere's office and debrief him."
  23. Thanks, NOD! I Photoshopped and extra gloomy picture, but I didn't use it here because it didn't fit with the general story. Thanks! Glad you like it. I'll need some more "basic" tiles and bricks if I want to make large and detailed bases like those of yourself, because is mostly used all of mine already. I'm especially in dire need of tiles to spruce up the ground. I like the gray background too. It's something different from the usual white and I find it easier to Photoshop stuff, especially if there's white involved. The white flag would vanish into a white background. Great to hear . I honestly I had no clue the shield was that close in design to the one used by the Hohenzollerns. There's no real prefab shield that was satisfying enough for what I wanted, so I started playing around with those pieces and came up with the checkered design by coincidence. I had made a 50:50 black/white design first, but the checkered pattern looked more dynamic. I used it here already and decided to keep it because it just fits really well. So no, there's no real specific meaning. It's just the "national" shield of the City displaying its colors, I guess.
  24. Massive build, man! I love the general lay-out of the structure with the towers on each corner. The way you did the roofs there is really clever. The whole building looks really exotic! The story was great as well. Really funny in a silly way .
  25. Felix listened attentively to what Lars had to say. Varen had his way with words to get the Thudaal to spill the story like that. The Chimeran was content. “Yeah, let’s go. Let’s use the push they programmed into our dive. Nothing more for us here," he uttered the last phrase with a hint of remorse or sorrow and briefly looked aloof into the distance as if expecting to see something. He was quick to shake it off however and uttered "I hate grapefruit".
