  1. Cool build! It's massive! Nice style you've got with the wooden beams protruding from the white walls. The spiky ends of the portcullis are inventive, too. I haven't seen one built like that before. The flock of seagulls is a nice touch . Maybe you could've added some 1x1 round trans-blue plates below the bridge to get the feel of water there? It would've also added a nice extra bit of color. For some reason, the MOC makes me think of the city gate in Valencia even though it look nothing alike . Maybe it's the combination of palm trees/sole standing gate.
  2. The real-life colonial influence on the architecture is definitely tangible here. It made me think of old French colonial buildings immediately with that typical roof style. It's a great build that oozes personality and has great color choices. I love the murky blues and greens you used for the roof and like the others have stated, the way you did those shutters is inspiring. I will surely try to remember that design. The crocodile as well is just perfection. A minor "nitpick" perhaps: I didn't really get that the story was set during the night from the pictures. The background is black, but the building itself is somewhat too bright? Perhaps you could've put a dark layer on top of your photo in Photoshop to sell the night setting more.
  3. Another gorgeous one from you, Ayrlego! I'm amazed by the speed you build these and none of them suffer in quality. On the contrary, they are all top-notch. Lovely the architecture of this one and the general lay-out. Lovely build and atmosphere!
  4. "I'm not kidding you, Pierre. I saw it with my own eyes: there are demons running about in Fort Arltrees! I stumbled upon one last night and I swear it looked right into my soul!" "Nonsense, Charles. There's no such thing as demons. You just drank too much and started imagining things." With the situation around the Brick Seas slowly settling down somewhat, the small Essian garrison that had remaind in Fort Arltrees after the Battle for El Oleonda formally requested the Crown of Carno in Aden to expand its presence there, under the auspices of Oléon, of course. While there was no official alliance on paper between the nations, Fort Arltrees had grown into a synergetic settlement with benefits to both parties. Slowly, what had started as a squatter settlement with tents and solely wooden buildings was beginning to look like a civilized place. What passes for 'civilization' might be up for debate, however. The Essians - referring to the colony as 'Treesborg' in a corrupted version of the name in their own tongue - have brought with them not only soldiers, but also customs and architecture from the homeland. Architecture that would look out of place in any Oléonder city. Oléonese colonists have been known to label the Essian buildings in Fort Arltrees as rather 'gothic', 'unpleasant to the eye', 'dark' and 'not really up to latest trends'. The Reiterhaus, or rider's house - home of a contingent of Todeshusaren, is a prime example of Essian architecture: drawn up from red and blasted black bricks with decorative arches and spires, sporting the black-and-white of the Raven City. Obviously, the twin raven heraldry could not be missing here and have been incorporated guarding Essen's colors. Next to the building a small sapling was planted, in hope that its spirit would watch over the barracks in true wotanist naturalist fashion. Here we can see Father Jensen, resident Rune Priest of Treesborg, doing his daily morning walk accompanied by his trusted Carnite Shepherd, Max. An off-duty hussar is whetting his blade in the soft morning sun. A guard keeps an eye out for any possible dangers lurking in the untamed wilds of El Oleonda, while a hussar tends to his horse. ----- I built this after seeing Evancelt's armory. I was having a bit of a building block, because I always want to build too big, but when I saw that I thought "I can build something similarly sized as well". I coupled this with my wish to finally put my idea for Essian architecture into practice, instead of it just floating around in the back of my mind. Et voila, lo and behold: the Essian Reiterhaus. It might not be that big, but I'm rather proud of it, because I was 95% able to nail the architectural style like I had it in my mind. Hope you like it!
  5. Felix waved away Polaris' thoughtful suggestion. "Thanks, but I'll manage," he groaned, "Our priority is Lars." "Yeah, you keep it, Polaris. Compensation for the Elixirs you spent." Felix watched attentively as the Thudaal interfaced with the console. He anxiously awaited what information the machine could provide on this whole debacle. "Well that's anticlimactic", the Chimeran muttered softly under his breath. A slight snarl ran over his face. "Didn't we just save this guy's life? What more does he need to know we're trustworthy?" "Aight then, let us depart and get you back. I'm sure your colleagues will be aching to see you," Felix said and spun his finger in the air, rallying the group for departure. He chuckled: "The O'ku'ruk especially seemed kinda worried about ya, see?"
  6. Felix nodded. "Glad to hear you talking some sense. Agent Oddsphere sent us, alright. From what we've been told, you've been gone for about a week now." "I've got time," Felix replied sternly. "I hate it when there's something rotten and something definitely rotten here. Lupin Biotech sure ain't up to no good with this kind of research." He flared his nostrils and grunted. Everywhere he went, it seemed like people and corporations were shady, lying or corrupt. Money-grabbing fools. What happened to having an honest set of principles and being content with simply helping your fellow man? Always this lust for power.
  7. Felix twirled his pistol around his finger, before putting it back in its holster. "Phew, there's that", he said casually as he rubbed his hands together. He stepped over to Varen and reached out his hand to pull the man back up. "You aight there, ami?", he chuckled, "You took one hell of a hit." The Chimeran checked out his own injuries and started coughing as he ran his hands over his bloodied shirt. "Shoot man, it's been a while since I got this banged up." "I'm still the mission leader, Polaris", Felix dryly stated as she told him to check Varen. A slight smile quickly surfaced however. "Gotta admit though, I do like the enthusiasm and initiative you're showing here. You did well. You think you can patch him up?" He fumbled in his pockets, while making his way to Lars and Polaris: "If the Nanite Elixir don't work, I still got this Plasma Potion", he said and started to cough up some blood again. Felix chuckled. "Heh, could probably use one of those maself, but I promised the lady we'd bring this guy back. And I do intend to fulfill that promise." Frowning rather seriously, Felix checked to see if he could find out something about the shape Lars was in (Insight check to see how "stable" or "mentally there" Lars is?). "Lars. Lars. Do you know where you are?"
  8. While I applaud the originality of the backpacks' usage to build the roof, I'm not a huge fan of the visual outcome. To me, it looks more liked "stacked backpacks" than an actual roof. That being said, I do like everything else here: the boat pieces used for the barn door and the lower wall made of Nexo Knights shields. Clever way of angling those! I like the visual style you have here. It's a bit cartoony and somewhat unlike your other builds. Kind of looks like something Warcraft-y Viking-esue. Too bad the roof was to flimsy to add some terrain.
  9. As Felix ejects a spent plasma clip from his pistol, he surveys some of the inflicted wounds. He was bleeding more than he'd thought, but tried to shake it off. "Getting too old for this", he grunted. Cocking his gun with a fresh plasma round, the Chimeran aimed at the tank once more to deal a final blow in case Polaris wasn't able to finish it. In the corner of his eye he tried to keep track of Lars. Hopefully taking out the creature would free Lars from its grip. He grinned and turned to Varen: "You'll be sipping margaritas on the beach again in no time, man". "We got this."
  10. Felix sighed in relief when he saw Varen got stabilized. "Let's end this already" Felix fires at the creature.
  11. Right, in that case perhaps: Even though he's Blinded, Felix tries to Defend Polaris as she tries to patch up Varen.
  12. "Aaargh!", Felix exclaimed as the flash of light burst forth from Lars. His pupils shrunk to near-invisible slits and he violently started rubbing his eyes to get rid of the effect. "Damn you!," the Chimeran roared in anger. Having been robbed of sight, Felix blindly shoots in the general direction of the creature. Here's to nothing . I don't think I can do anything else for now.
  13. Plus, the tough and abrasive character is also lots of fun to play, IMO. I've said it before, but I kind of miss playing as Eric because I loved his childish, devious and impish behavior. I want Felix to be nicer and less self-centered which is a fun, but hard challenge .
  14. Felix checks his ammo and inches closer to Varen. He peeked over his shoulder at his wounded compatriot and tried to encourage him: "Hang in there buddy, we're getting you out of here. Stay with us!" Felix moves to B4 and fires at the creature.
  15. So, what do you think I'd do best this turn? Move closer to Varen and try to stabilize him or just continue to attack the creature until it's dead?
  16. @CapOnBOBS Too bad your laptop died on you, because that is already one beast of a MOC. Wow! Even though it's not even finished, there's already so much to look at. You're really nailing these digital builds. The bridge looks really fantastic and the added functionality is definitely a plus. Luckily, you'll get your hard drive back so you can at least try to salvage your work. Losing your computer and work can be mighty frustrating. I wouldn't know what to do when my laptop'd give up. Like NOD said, having backups is a good idea. I copy most of my work and pictures to an external HDD every now and then + store some stuff in the cloud. On another note: @blackdeathgr, I hope you're nowhere near the fires in Greece! Wishing you the best, man. What a crazy summer it has been in Europe so far. First the floods in Belgium/Germany/Italy and now all the fires all over southern Europe.
  17. The combat is definitely something else than Heroica 1.0. I'll echo samurai-turtle and KotZ in that I'm also still learning the system. Currently, it can feel a bit overwhelming, especially with the "external" proficiencies that can also be used, next to the standard move/shoot/defend battle options. I think we did botch the start of our current battle though by not working on a proper plan of action . Characters that remain in each others vicinity are way more lethal than going solo.
  18. The pictures don't seem to be working for me any more? I saw the MOC on Flickr though and I got to say I love it! I like how you copied the Medieval Blacksmith's roof technique here. It works so well. The overall architecture of the warehouse is really well done too. I especially like the use of those panels and hinge bricks as decoration. The trees look a bit sparse, but are a clever build nevertheless. And of course, it is always nice to see some sepoys.
  19. Fun continuation of a minor NPC's story. I like the design of the grave, it's not unlike something you see for a king or bishop in some medieval or renaissance church. The ulterior motive fits the padre so well .
  20. Simple, yet beautiful. The elephant obviously steals the spotlight. I love the new range of Lego animals and how their designs are more "in-line" with one another than some of the old animals. I like the way you made the wooden roof of the house with the upside down plates. Neat idea there. The Parvatti twins torsos work well reversed. Lego should really do more global designs for their figures. Always fun to see more "exotic" designs.
  21. "Nah, damn it! No, no, no!," Felix exclaimed as he saw Varen fall down, ignoring the fact he got wounded himself. "Alright, Polaris, try to shut the Environmental Filter again. However, if it fails, I think we'll need to regroup next (turn). If we don't work together, we'll get picked off one by one." Felix falls back to C4 and shoots the tank creature.
  22. "Worth a try," Felix replied. He aimed his gun at the creature and fired a shot, hoping to land a hit despite the wyrm meddling in his mind again.
  23. "Much better!", Felix exclaimed as the intruding presence vanished from his mind. "We'll need some sort of strategy if we're to come out on top of this. Any ideas?", the Chimeran queried his partners, as he fell back to D4 and fired a shot at the tank. "Varen, if you can, try to fall back as well! Polaris, I'll need you to Rally me next turn. We'll need to help each other to deal with the creature."
  24. Okay, I wasn't sure how much I could pitch in, with Felix being possessed and all. However, to be honest, I also haven't got the faintest idea on how to handle this... Polaris and Varen probably need to move away from the creature, in order to not have to do a Frighten check every turn. On the other hand, they also need to stay close to each other to boost one another, because without any sort of boost we don't even stand a chance, I think. On the other other hand: we can't kill Lars, because he needs to be brought in alive. So yeah, I can't see a clear strategy or approach here. Re: Felix; no clue there. Maybe someone can shake him really hard, so he snaps out of it? Also, @WBD: what do the points in Lars' stats list mean?
