Nice diorama that shows the ragtag an perhaps desperate band of troops defending Seawatch. The chewed musket is just some wear from the many battles. It adds personality to the weapon .

I love that breech loading gun and the fact you can actually load it from the rear! That's so cool. The figures and information are great, too. I like the use of the Kylo Ren torso as cotton armor. Where did you get the harquebuses?

Flower of the Lotus - Mini Challenge - RESULTS POSTED
Khorne replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
My entry for Cat 1 A: -
From left to right: dismounted cavalryman; swordsman armed with dragon shield, thought to ward off enemy bullets, zhuge nu repeating crossbow archer; Meteor Hammer cavalryman; Zhao Liang; spearman; musketeer; flamethrower and operator The Lotus Emperor has put his sight on the island of El Oleonda, or Jinzi isle as the Lotii refer to it, and the banners of the Empire answers his call to war. Raised amongst the men of the southern military province the Blue Banner army is led by Zhao Liang, the honorary Water Dragon. Formed around a small core of professional soldiers and feudal lords pledged to the Lotus Court, the bulk of the army actually comes from conscripted peasants. As is the case with most of the Lotii armies, there is little standardization in equipment and uniform save for it being shades of blue. Even though military reforms are underway, only a small amount of units have benefitted thus far. As such, a plethora of different weaponry can be found in the hands of the Lotus Emperor's soldiers, ranging from wholly antiquated to muskets somewhat on par with those of the Madrician nations. Some soldiers are still armed with the so-called zhuge nu repeating crossbow. Ineffective against armored enemies, its fast-shooting bolts are plenty dangerous to the unarmored opponents commonly faced on El Oleonda. Plus, its high rate of fire has a demoralizing affects on those who are on its receiving end. Another seldom-seen weapon fielded by the Lotii is the flamethrower. Shooting small bursts of fire at the enemy, it can tear quite a hole in the lines of the opponents. That is, if the weapon manages to get that close.

[OL-Troop] 1st company of collabos in Eltina
Khorne replied to Bodi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Interesting build and story. It's an aspect of war and its consequences that is often forgotten. A bit dark perhaps, but sometimes that is needed. The movement of the figures is excellent and conveys the chaos well. Plus, that ship is a thing of beauty! -
Like I said on Flickr: these are an interesting bunch and I'm glad I got to read the accompanying story. A unique entry for sure .

Nice array of soldiers! The janissary looks great and the pandour looks way better than the version I made some time ago. The red cap and cape or more recognizable than the black ones I used. I would've associated them with Mokolei immediately, but I really like the combinations you've made! Is it ever, though? -

Excellent addition to the Shogunate's array of troops! They certainly look like the part. Like I said on Flickr, I wish I had a white cape (or a white ninja head wrap for that matter). -

You're on a roll with these micro builds. This is another gorgeous scene you've built! So many cool details to look at. I especially like the wisp of smoke coming from the camp fire. Simple, yet very effective.

I concur, that is a gorgeous build, man. Wow! The color palette is stunning. So diverse, yet it all comes together. Truly beautiful with excellent part use. The clouds especially stand out to me.

That is a beautiful boat and scene! You can truly feel the speed here, with the magnificent water splashes/trail you've added. Well done! -
The Return of the ... (Chapter 1)
Khorne replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The plot thickens! I love the setup of the story and I also can't wait to the builds and chapters of the other participants and watch this unfold. The bed room is a great build! The giant doors really give it a majestic and royal feel. EDIT: Did you cut out the lattice stickers on the windows in the bed room yourself, or is that an existing part/sticker? -
That's a great looking tank and accompanying figures you got there . The addition of the trees adds a nice splash of color to the diorama. Is the tank based on something real, because I know you based the jeep you built before on a RL example?

Flower of the Lotus - Mini Challenge - RESULTS POSTED
Khorne replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Neat challenge! Some minor questions: Most likely I can't re-enter the example soldiers? I was planning on making a scouting MOC akin to what Evancelt made recently and was going to feature some soldiers there. Can the figbarf entries also be a part of another MOC or should they be unique for this challenge? I thought the general story was like Ayrlego described above and how it is written in the link Jeff of Clubs posted? The Lotii had some colonies on El Oleonda, then the Carnites came and both got into conflict over whom got to claim the whole island. Or did I miss something? -
[OL FB] Foreign Legion Outpost, New Oleon
Khorne replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Another excellent build! I love the rough and weathered style you made this MOC in. It suits the harsh desert climate perfectly and I can imagine the building being battered by coarse winds and sandstorms. It's neat to recognize some general elements I used way back in my New Oleon build, but now with more detail and in a larger, bigger build. There's plenty of neat details to look at. Plus, the addition of chicken always helps to bring a certain mood or some life to a scene, I feel . The ladder looks great. So simple, yet very effective. I'll have to remember that. I'm also glad you went with the classic yellow heads, although flesh toned heads would've worked as well. -

An interesting look at the Carnite lines and great addition of an NPC scene to the narrative. Like the others have said, the brick-built cannons look great and palisade look plenty vicious enough to deter invaders for some time. -

Nice little scene and story. I like the ramshackle look of the buidlings. It fits with Fort Arltrees' mostly rough looks.- 12 replies

Great architecture and atmosphere you have in this MOC! The angled placement of the building adds a level of interestingness to the scene. It's also really cool to see this building combined with the others you've made. Nice to see the city come along! -

I can only echo what the others have said: the side trunk look great and the round black border gives the scene a neat finish. It'll be interesting to read what the scouts have found!- 11 replies

Interesting turnaround of an existing MOC to a new context. Surprising to see what a change of surroundings can do to a building. The Mexican vibe the original had, is now almost completely gone. -

Looking good so far! I love the style you have. Fits the environment perfectly. It might be an outpost to protect trade caravans or trade routes going from inland to the port cities. -
Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Khorne replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I'm guessing that's most likely the issue. That or the resizer tool drops the alpha channel and changes the PNG from RGBA to RGB for some reason. I don't think there's much to do about it . -

When deeplinking transparent PNG's from Flickr, I've found that you need to use the image in its original size. At first I made the icons at @2 size and then wanted to use them at 50% on EB, but whenever I used the Flickr resizing option, it added the white background. So I then made all icons 100% true size and re-uploaded them to Flickr and when deeplinking I now use the "Original size" option. The moment you pick something other than "Original size", it adds a white background. -
Amazing! The ship by itself is already breathtaking and filled with plenty of details, deserving of a topic on its own, but the fact that you combined it with almost equally impressing terrain makes it mindblowing. So much to look at!
