I think you forgot Flyer Beast's yellow lower jaw. Although this is definitely a better combination. I look forward to seeing the rest of this MOC and the one you're planning to use the other head for.

Awesome work ! How tall is she? She seems larger than even the tallest of my MOCs. From the picture I'd guess that she's at least 70 centimeters (2 feet 4 inches) tall. I also love the way you incorporated the IfB cocoons and the shape and structure of the head is far more original than any I've come up with. The use of the Chima armor addons is a NPU. The torso and especially the legs also seem very cohesive, although the Bionicle joint seems out of place. The weapons also seem awkwardly small, although I love the use of the Queen Beast wings as hair: it looks remarkably fitting for the character. The feet seem quite small though.

I've built big monsters before, and the one on the left seems a bit too large really (at least for a 50 cm tall monster), and would only look good if the MOC is quadrupedal, in contrast to the official Beasts. Also, it seems very cluttered, and the grey looks very strange and inorganic; unless you have enough black bones to replace all of the grey there, I wouldn't recommend using that head. The one on the right, on the other hand, seems slightly too small. Still, it looks remarkably cute, and perhaps, if the proportions of the rest of the MOC are large enough, it might even look rather creepy and sort of scary. Giving the monster several heads might also look good.

furno's jet bioformer (from furno jet machine)
DraikNova replied to bacem's topic in LEGO Action Figures
It looks pretty damn cool. In fact, it looks much better than the regular pose. I'm very impressed with how you did this. Also: They looked better in the Mask of Light movie, but I can't find pictures of that scene. -
Okay, that Greg stuff is strange. I'm pretty much convinced by now, but if it turns out to be a hoax, I congratulate the evil masterminds behind it. I really hope HF isn't canceled, though. Hopefully, they'll either alternate focus between themes, or they'll keep one as the secondary theme (like they're doing with the Chima Ultrabuilds right now).

A possible explanation for the Avsa: could it have been used as a stand-in for an unfinished mask design?

I got the sets a few days ago. I didn't pick up Laval or Fluminox, though. Now, my thoughts: Chi Cragger is a remarkably good set. The official version isn't too bad, and you can easily modify him to have a more crocodilian look. The parts selection is also quite good. I also must say that the plethora of colors used do not detract as much from his look as everyone says once you have him in your hand. Chi Panthar is kind of meh. The parts selection is average, and the build leaves a massive gap in his back. It's also hard to position his head in a manner that looks natural, and the use of the 4-length bones for his neck looks strange due to the axle part. Chi Mungus is pretty awesome. The hammer's spinning doesn't look that strange, and it has a strange tendency to settle into a remarkably natural position. The parts are also good. Lots of tr. blue, as we've seen, plus the brown. I'd place him behind Cragger, but he's not that bad, and definitely better than Panthar. Chi Vardy is a personal favorite. He looks awesome with his ice buzzsaw thing. The animalistic aspect is also pulled off pretty well, and to top it all off, he has the most tr. blue of all of the Ice Chi sets. I've already modified him into a version without the strange six-limbed look, though. Pick this one up, if any. Chi Fangar is better than Mungus, but worse than Vardy. He's very imposing, which is strongly enhanced by his cape and his function (which usually works, but the right leg looks strange due to the gunmetal armor shell over the tr. blue limb. Why couldn't LEGO have replaced that with a tr. blue one? I know, I know, the cost of having more parts in production. He still looks pretty good, and the parts selection is magnificent.

Wow. Could someone please PM me the picture(s)? I've got to say, while I'm less excited by this than most, this seems like it could be pretty good. The story would obviously be a major concern (although the past one seems more and more like a pastiche of various cliches, made awesome simply by the amount of detail), although from the looks of it, I'm guessing either full reboot or Bota Magna. I'm hoping for Bota Magna; any chance for cyborg dinosaurs is too good to pass up. I'm still on the edge regarding the nature of this: on one hand, as Aanchir just mentioned, it would require an insane amount of planning. On the other, the sheer amount of ridiculously dedicated fans would make something like this quite possible. And, while it'd be a good choice for the announced new theme, I'd rather see what new things LEGO can come up with.

MOC - Tomb Raider's Lost Valley
DraikNova replied to Dfenz's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Wow. This is absolutely insanely massive and detailed and impressive. Those dinosaurs, the T-Rex in particular, might be imposing, what with the nicely evocative use of parts, but they pale in comparison to the environment and it's sheer detail. I love the way the ground was made; it looks really beautiful and rather natural too. The ruined bridge is a nice touch and is pretty great for the way it's relatively simple parts are used.- 15 replies

If LEGO did that, it might as well be Ogel. Of the two, he's definitely the more sinister-looking villain.

I think you're underestimating children. At any rate, I'm ignoring that story in an attempt to preserve my sanity. I hope LEGO puts some more effort into the official story, though.

Future Ultra Agents Sets!
DraikNova replied to Sir Brickalot's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Both iterations of Agents suffer from a great deficiency of evil headquarters, so I came up with these two sets. I think I might actually design these in LDD if I get the chance. I must admit, I had a lot of fun coming up with the puns in the set description for the Hideout of Doom. Toxikita's Hideout of Doom Warning: Toxikita has taken over an old chemical plant and has retrofitted it to suit her evil plot. Stop her before she launches her acid rocket into the atmosphere and destroys the planet! But beware, she won't go down easily; make full use of Caila Phoenix's spider mini-mech and Curtis Bolt's off-road quad bike to break into this toxic compound! Includes five minifigures with accessories: Toxikita, Retox, Adam Acid, Agent Caila Phoenix and Agent Curtis Bolt. Hideout measures 50 by 40 centimeters (20'' by 16'')! Hideout features acid tank and hero suspension cage, perimeter fence with pop-up missile turrets*, armory with 3 stud shooters and robot suit, rocket launch pad and planning room. Stop Toxikita from launching an attack on the world with her toxic rocket! Combine with set #...... Acid Mech Attack's launch platform for an even deadlier base. Features pop-up acid missile battery. Price: $249.99 *The spring-loaded kind. Acid Mech Attack Hydrocaustic is planning to melt down Astor City in his towering Acid Mech. Stop him before he starts using Max Burn's jet! Destroy the docking station's supply using the stud shooters, then keep fighting until Hydrocaustic empties his detachable acid tank. Features fully poseable Acid Mech and docking platform. Fire the shoulder-mounted acid missiles*! Grab Max Burns from his flyer with the Acid Mech's dissolver claw! Acid Mech measures over 23 centimeters (9'') tall, 10 centimeters (4'') long and 12 centimeters (5'') wide! Combine with set #...... Toxikita's Hideout of Doom for even more fun. Price: $49.99 *Three of the spring-loaded missile launchers per shoulder. -
I think this looks like a pretty good set. It has almost everything: a nice little function, an original design, some rare parts (such as the blue weapon wheel and the longer bones), along with the best printed shell of all. To top it all off, it looks great as well. The only thing it's lacking in are unique recolors, but very few of the other sets sport them, and this set has green armor add-ons, so it even comes out pretty well there. The uncovered bone part isn't that big an issue, but I feel that a Waspix connector could have fixed that section's other problem. Also, Leewan, that launcher mechanism looks great. I'm going to have to try that one out myself (albeit with the two pins for the rubber band moved further apart).

Thanks VBBN! I feel the summer sets are a bit of a mixed bag. Some of the sets, most of all Bulk Drill Machine and Crystal Beast, feel rather small for their price slots. On the other hand, all of them seem like the sort of sets that go through the roof in terms of play value and aesthetics, the Queen Beast in particular. And all of the sets are great parts packs. Even Bulk Drill Machine has a blue cocoon. To say the least, I'm looking forward to getting these. Do you guys think they will be out by the 27th?

While I'm still going to buy at least three of him just for that tr. head, I feel Crystal Beast could have had more tr. blue, and what with the multitude of such pieces featured in the Chima sets, I've got to say that he's lost some of the appeal he had before the Chima sets were fully unveiled. Still, the recolored quaza spikes look beautiful, and I could always use more cocoons. Just a thought: perhaps the orange was chosen to show the ties to the Tunneler Beast?

I for one really like this mech. While the flyer segment looks rather pathetic, I will always welcome an opportunity for more of those ultrabuild "weapon barrels" (and I don't have any tr. blue ones, so that's a plus for me) and 0(O)0 connectors. The main part of the mech is a glorious use of bone parts, which I prefer over excessive use of torso pieces. Even the posing doesn't seem like that much of an issue, considering its focus of firepower over agility. I think it would look better if it was just walking. And the ability to use the machinery of the other mechs just makes it perfect in my eyes.

[MOC] cragster & electroid frontal mode (cragster & electroid
DraikNova replied to bacem's topic in LEGO Action Figures
These look both hilarious and awesome, what with the duck-like head of the Electroid MAX (I presume it's not a MIX?). The Cragsters' one is my favorite of the two, though, due to the way you incorporated the balljoint eye. -
Warning: The following may be considered disturbing, albeit true. Great, someone opened that can of worms. Let's just say that anthropomorphic animals are a concept that rule 34 is often applied to.

Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitsu TV Show Thread
DraikNova replied to Lance's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
At least where I live, it isn't. Really, why would it be illegal? The more places a show is available, the more people will hear about it and eventually watch the tv channel. At any rate, I'm rather excited for "The Titanium Ninja". No matter whether it is a mere metaphor (the likelier of the two) or actually a new ninja, it should be interesting.- 4,591 replies

Wow. I've seen some giant builds, but nothing as large as this. Definitely not in System. And the sheer detailed greeblage...I may dislike Star Wars heavily, but this is just too cool for words. May I ask what the piece used to connect the clips on the engines? Is it a pneumatic tube?
-
It seems just a little too much for my tastes, but the bow design is pretty awesome. Making the tail a lot simpler and shorter would make it more like a real bird (which, considering that it is a six-limbed anthropomorphic bird of fire, may be a rather strange concern, but it is still a valid one).
-
Well, for past orders, while I may have encountered some issues with the service, the prices are very reasonable: about 50 (euro)cents for some of the bones, but usually around 30 cents per piece or less. In my case, the shipping was also quite cheap.

The new piece looks a little more natural than the old one, funnily enough.

Wow, the parts assortment in this set is really stunning. I was already planning to get it, but now I absolutely have to. The claws, the minifig paws, the jaws the everything else... Really, only the green ground piece bothers me, and the fact that I have relatively few green plates alleviates that. There are even tr. light blue joints, and that icy cage thing just screams of potential uses. The fact that I haven't gotten any Chima sets and the inclusion of some of the more alluring parts found in the Chima lineup makes this set a great parts pack for me. Even the back doesn't seem like that big a flaw, considering those of some past sets. Thanks for the awesome review!

To me it seems as good as the Galaxy Squad Vermin Vaporizer: a great build in and of itself (and one of the two sets that I've kept built), with lots of play value and which makes a great display item, but indeed with relatively low parts value. However, the parts assortment of the Hurricane Heist seems much better to me than that of the truck, and it includes a lot of very useful generic bricks. And, while it's hard to do so, olive green can have a great effect on a MOC if incorporated properly.
