I wanted to build something tall. The picture leaves somewhat to be desired in quality, perhaps. I usually take pictures outside but it's been storming which is actually just an excuse because I didn't finish building until after dark. Anyway, there will be more pictures on my Flickr when it stops raining and blowing hurricanes. Comments and critiques are welcome! Thanks for checking it out!

CHALLENGE III: Category A: Story of the traveler
Kai NRG replied to Zilmrud's topic in Guilds of Historica
Really good job on the narrow lane here, those vines and pink flowers add just the right touch of color and the camera angles are very effective! -
Have I forgotten something from Jay's backstory that I should be remembering about where he lives and who Olivia and Elise are or am I just as ignorant here as I'm supposed to be? I enjoyed the deer anecdotes and these last two have been quite funny. Looking forward to more and to the builds, whenever they're ready!

Something tells me no one's going to be busting into this city anytime soon! I agree with Garmadon about the balista, and the use of arches for the wall coupled with gold detailing (brilliant use for those dragon head sword ends!) and the Avalonian colors makes for a great wall! But my favorite thing is probably the tree with the roots dangling over the side - the roots look really cool!

Awesome to see a second interior from you that's every bit as well planned as your blacksmith's! The atmosphere of this build is gorgeous thanks to the dark-trans on the floor (which is impressive because I'd have thought that dark-trans had no business on a floor ) and the transparent colors behind the window lattices add the perfect spice to the white and black. Then the stairway has a great slant, the arches are all top notch, and the lights on the stairwell give the whole room a unique flair. The only thing that doesn't seem quite spot on, as I mentioned to you already, is the inset corners of the grey door (although apart from that the door has some really nice detailing) - I feel like they should be flush with the rest of the wall. But this is still a beautiful interior! -
Borrow away! I love this low wall technique and it works great for rice paddies! Thanks Grover! The sickle is fairly new, it comes in a pack with several other weapons in several Ninjago sets, including some of the Dragon Hunter sets from last year and now in gold in the Legacy sets. Thank you! I plan to keep experimenting with sunset backgrounds and hone my field scene skills...

Thanks everyone! Thanks for the tips! I'm not good at knowing how to tweak the depth of field, but I should probably learn better for moments like these! The subdued lighting is a good idea that could definitely have helped with that, I'll keep it in mind for next time - I do have a quantity of pink bricks that I've been feeling bad about never using! Thank you! Yes, that's from the goblin - I really like the print, so I'm always looking out for ways to hide the green skin.

Awesome, thanks for the in depth reply! Looking forward to doing some rendering then!

Okay, thanks! Makes sense! So my design would actually be rendered on Mecabricks' computer and then sent to me? The Blender Lite add-on is for use with Blender (obviously) and basically just renders a 3D LEGO model that's been built somewhere else, right? It doesn't include the design software, does it? Am I right that building using Mecabricks has to be done online - if I wanted to work off-line I'd have to use another program such as LDraw or Stud.io? If for instance I downloaded the add-on and then built a design online can I download that design and use the add on? Do I need an account to download the design file? (I don't object to getting an account, I probably will - just want to know. ) And one last question; the Blender Advanced add-on does the same thing that can be done online with credits, correct? So basically it's a one-time cost for the software to do advanced renders right?

You're welcome!

Looking into some digital building tools and Mecabricks has always impressed me with its rendering... is it possible to render a model without signing up? Just experimenting right now.

Life is going on as usual in Shinmizu village! -
On the outskirts of Shinmizu village... ...Guy o' the Wynd plies his scythe as usual... ...not knowing that his life is soon to be turned upside down... Or not so soon. Whenever I get around to the next build. I tried a pink sky before deciding to go with the blue one... then I changed my mind. C&C welcome! Feels good to have a build for GoH again! And if you're interested in seeing behind the scenes of this build, and a few more pictures with the pink sky, check out the post on my blog.

Welcome to the best guild! Looking forward to meeting your sig-fig! -
Thanks blackdeath! No, I'm pretty sure the guns are from Brick Forge. Thank you! Thanks Captain! Sure! The little ones are fun but hard to balance. So is the big one.

Something strange is going on... So far: Explosion on Gunpowder Island A Message Is Sent A Message Is Recieved At The Headquarters Encounter in the Jungle Patrolling the jungle is an important part of every soldier's duty. Dick and Harry are soldiers who always do their duty. They were patrolling the jungle a few days ago, which was not as easy as it sounds because the flowers were very pretty and distracted Dick and the spider webs were very clingy and distracted Harry. Oh, and a volcano had erupted a few days ago and there had been strange rumors of banana monsters eating Corrington patrols. Probably a rumor set afoot by Queen Annetta, who was known to be passionately attached to bananas and naturally wanted to keep Oleon away from this newly discovered island. Or not. Taken by surprise, Dick did an about face and stomped through the underbrush while Harry dove behind the nearest palm tree and sighted the monsters. "Kablam!" Dick was known for his true aim and sure enough, there was a hole right through the smallest banana's middle... for a minute... until the peel grew back. Then Dick and Harry started to run... Here's the vig without the banana monsters! Enjoyed putting some of the newer plant pieces to use here. Also was finally able to make a decently sized palm tree with that technique, I've been cheese slope poor for a long time. And the largest banana monster. Lots of fun to make this little guy! Hope you enjoyed this taste of the doom that's stalking into BoBS! Your patrols had better start getting scared!

Oh that's cool. There were lots of neat pieces I would have liked that were out of stock last time. Of course, it may have been a good thing, I hate to think what the total would have been otherwise...

The scarecrow torso? How'd you get that? I thought they didn't carry CMF parts! Nice haul anyhow. They were out of the log suit when I ordered but I got a bunch of those stalks with three leaves and quarter tiles in lots of different colors. Got a couple spiders and lobsters and a ton of sea gulls! So is that why I got free shipping? I was pretty confused by that. Makes no sense for sure but good to know.

Impressive job on the tent shapes especially the one on the left! I also really like the guild colors and the curls on the roof ends. But my favorite part is the U design right under the roof - such a good use of curved tiles!- 20 replies
