Thanks guys! Hey, I don't build that much funky colored stuff... ...I think... Thanks kabel! Exactly the analogy that came to my mind while building it! And it's true, so many colors makes him quite conspicuous! But then, when he gets to town he has to attract attention somehow! Thanks!

Long ago, back in the days when Kaliphlin was a peaceful place, I packed up my goods and set out on a trading adventure. The sandy expanse spread out before me as I settled back in my multicolored wagon and dreamed of the riches that were to become mine... but I am getting ahead of the story. Let me introduce myself. I am called Itiz Al Myne, and the name fits, if I may say so myself. I am a merchant, and this was not my first venture across the Siccus - no, not by a long shot. And while it is true that on my last venture I may - mark you well, I admit nothing - I may have parted with a little - a very little - of my goods without remembering to note them down on the tax return, I am a very honest merchant. Well, here I was, reclining peacefully back in my fancy carriage, dreaming of piles of gold stacked to the ceiling around me, when all of a sudden a jolting drag to a halt brought me back from the glittering realm of fancy to the real world of bumps and interruptions. I stuck my head out of the cover that separated myself from my driver, an angry expostulation on my lips, just in time to hear him say, "Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies! Now let us pass!" Kaliphlin, a peaceful place, forsooth! I glanced down my nose at a short knight that stood blocking our path and echoed my follower's command. "Let us by, man! I am an honest merchant!" "That is precisely the information I wished to know," he said politely - but without getting out of the way, as I noticed. "If you would be so kind as to step down I can surely verify it with ease. Pardon my suspiciousness, but you must admit that your driver's attitude has not been one to lull it to rest." "Step down?! You are the one that had better step down!" I roared. "How dare you mess with an honest trader like myself?" "What do you carry?" he asked. "Spices from the island of Gorr," I replied, but in the same breath my driver - apparently not thinking I could make things up as well as he could - responded, "Mitgardian honey." I looked at him sharply, but, covering my annoyance, turned with a slight bow toward the knight and added, "That too!" "Spices from Gorr and honey from Mitgardia!" he exclaimed with a broad smile. "Truly, sir merchant, you bring your food from afar! Search them," he commanded motioning to a companion whom I noticed for the first time. The driver looked at me inquiringly, but the knight, guessing his intention, sprang upon him and rendered our escape hopeless. Dismounting, I looked glumly on as the soldier ransacked my precious carriage and confiscated all that was contraband - which left precious little, I must admit. Thus it was that I lost the entire venture of - well, never mind what it was, it is bad policy to commit one's self in writing - but I lost it, all because of some knight-errant who wanted to impress his boss and my overzealous driver, who certainly did not impress his boss! I initially built the carriage for a different build, but I have this absurd tendency to build carriages that are too big for my bases, so I had to save it for a later vig! So here it is, I'm not sold on the blue and grey border (looking back, red and grey or yellow and grey would have been better), but I wanted to get it off my desk! I did have fun writing the story though! C&C welcome, thanks for checking it out!

Challenge IV Prelude, Chapter 3 - A Failed Discovery
Kai NRG replied to Kai NRG's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks everyone! Thanks ME! I was hoping for something more dramatic with the lighting, but oh well! Of course it does, at least, when applied to me! (Seriously though, I believe it is a word!) Thanks! Thanks LV! I thought it might feel rather lighthearted myself, but I'm glad you saw it as foreboding! -
Across the winding paths of the Rakath mountains a group of three picked their way cautiously. Two were explorers from Petraea University - a Doctor and his assistant - the other was their guide. "Here we are, sirs," began the guide. "But I beg of you, do not enter! Legend has it that there is a curse upon the remains of the dead king entombed here, a curse that will be lifted if he is disturbed!" "It's just superstition, man!" the Doctor replied. "Lead on." Trembling, the guide advanced into the dark cave, holding his torch up before him. After him came the assistant, and as he stepped before the coffin, he drew a lever from beneath his jerkin. In a low voice the Doctor exclaimed, "At last! Open it, that we may be sure we are the first." The assistant drew near, but just before he laid the tool to the crack in the coffin a cry of terror rang out from their guide. "Look!" he faltered. They all looked - and there, in the corner was a lurid orange light, coming undoubtedly from the head of the coffin itself. Awed, the assistant stepped backwards, but the guide was not waiting. Dropping his torch - which flared up breifly and then went out, leaving only the faint glow from the coffin - he rushed past his companions out into the air. They were not long to follow suit. "Surely it was merely our imaginations!" exclaimed the Doctor, as they stood outside looking at each other's frightened faces. "It had to have been," his assistant replied positively. But neither seemed inclined to return, and when the guide, still trembling, began to descend the slope they glanced at each other and followed him. A shot of the entire tomb interior: Comments and criticism welcome!

Thanks! I liked the original set's color scheme with the olive green but some of the other sections were a bit lackluster! Thanks! I was really happy I was able to get that saxophone in there!

Great work on the barn roof in particular! The shape is really good! -
Excellent work on that wave!

So... it has begun, eh? Looking forward to seeing where this goes! The FP on this is very well done, as is the jagged spring-to-winter change especially along the ice line! You've got some really nice miniature ships there too!

A great series of builds LittleJohn, with a really good Kaliphlin feel as well! Great use of purples for the awning, and the texture on the jail walls is fantastic! Cool to see Ageven make an appearance as well!

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Kai NRG replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Welcome to Kaliphlin! On a side-note, the ties between Kali and Mitgardia are becoming pretty strong! -
Black clouds gathered on the horizon. Agents Cara and Jeremiah sped and glided through the lanes toward the sound of whirring jets from far ahead. "Looks like he'd dead ahead," muttered Jeremiah, swooping low to avoid a shop awning. "I see him!" Cara exclaimed. "And he sees us! Too bad more agents couldn't be spared for this, but the Imperial Crown needs them too much. I'm going in!" Jeremiah dove toward the gigantic, biped hulk of metal straight ahead. "So it's you two again!" Tornadzu's voice grated across the chilly air. "Guess what?! I've got a surprise for you!" Suddenly, the back of the Helicopter rotated down and the entire machine rose into the air as the legs folded back. Jeremiah involuntarily jerked backwards. "What in the..." "You're going down, Tornadzu!" Cara shouted. She slammed on the gas and gripped the handlebars as she shot up a nearby pile of boxes and barrels that did double duty that day as a ramp. "Forget it, Agents!" Tornadzu bellowed. "This is the end of you!" Tornadzu's vehicle actually transforms, starting like this: going to this (note the open gear spot): And ending as this! A close-up of Tornadzu in his Copter: Jeremiah Fire's Areal Glider: Cara Piper's Motor-sled: The figures... And last, an edited picture of the affair... It's been too long since I've been in the Sci-Fi forum! This was a really fun build and I was quite happy with how it came out especially considering all the SNOT work that went into it! C&C are welcome!

The angles on this are great! The interior details are really good as well, the canopy bed especially is really nice and the use of the tray as a round mirror is brilliant!

Great series Emma, my favorites are the Assassin, Horsemaster, and Archer. The use of the microphone and the combos on the Mountain man are really good as well!

Good work on the vegetation, nice and colorful! The shape of the coffin is great too!

The SNOTted castle stonework on this is fantastic, and it also merges really well with the studs up section! The water is really nice too as is the covered walkway. And of course the interior is great, I really like all the details like the writing desk, the various armor racks, and all those flags hanging around! Great work!

With all that gold around, no wonder he died with a smile! The angled walls are really good, as is the chandelier!

Great to see another build from you ZC! I'm really liking the stone technique and the well looks great! We actually have a noria well although we use electricity to pump it so needless to say it looks a good deal different (also, I didn't know noria was a word in English). I am wondering exactly how the water gets from the pails into the barrels though. Does it fall into the trough like thing on the left?

Nice little vig! The close up shot under the leaves is especially nice. -
Great interior scene, I especially like the rug and the arm rests of the chair is a great little detail! Also really like the inset cross and the shield on the stained glass! +1 for the UoP credits.
