[COR - FB] Officers Residence, Brickford Landing

A great little cottage, looks very pleasant and is probably actually very uncomfortable -
Thank you! Thanks Captain! Thank you! Interiors are so worth it, aren't they! Thanks!

Thank you! Thanks! Yes, there are actually some yellow leaves on the tree but they blend into the darker yellow very easily on photos. I would have loved to have more to heighten the contrast but I only had about fifteen. Also now that you mention the roof being upside down I can't unsee that. Those curved windows were Garmadon's idea, he did a really impressive job getting them in there--it's very out of system! Thanks Dan!

[COR-FB] Grenadier Barracks, Queenston

Looks so good, the plants in front of the windows are great and there's a really nice variety of palm trees here--you've even snuck a coral one in there I see, it blends in nicely half-hidden like that, good call. Lovely use of yellowed bricks as usual, and I like how the light yellow in the bottom story mimics that effect. -
The water looks really nice on this build, I also love the dark green on the stone, makes for a very nice transition. Great interiors too, I love how there's even a cobweb in that tiny roof!

Seeing this ship never gets old (thankfully--I've had to see it a lot )--it is really a masterpiece! So big, but also so detailed and polished! The gold was really a brilliant idea and brilliantly executed, if I may say so. There's lots of activity to enjoy on the decks too and all the lights are gorgeous. And way to make it shine with a great edit!

In a little corner of no-mans-land between Kaliphlin and Avalonia and Varlyrio, three builders came together to build a House. @Grover @Garmadon and myself spent a fun Saturday afternoon making the biggest tree of our building careers and possibly the biggest tree of the guilds! This little house doesn't belong to anyone specific--it's a temporary place established by a band of roving knights long long ago. Today, any knight on a quest stops here on his travels through the Wither Woods. I gotta give the tree trunk a shout out for the angle it has; at Garmadon's suggestion I gave it five instead of four sides, which ended up really really helping it look round and organic. I enjoyed adding a bunch of 'shrooms afterwards to bring it the scene to life a bit. And working some of that peach color into the build was fun too! There are so many leaves on this build! They're surprisingly heavy, but by weaving them securely into layers, the final model ended up pretty sturdy though branches broke frequently before it got to that point! Using the new-ish curved window frames for small bay windows was fun, though fitting them in there was a touch mathematically complex. C&C welcome, hope you enjoyed this huge specimen of guild flora! Thanks to Grover and Garmadon for their work on this build--twas lots of fun and a fantastic tree and we'll have to do this again sometime!

Some things to point out here that I didn't notice the first time--nice use of those claw plates on the roof, and it's really fascinating (not sure if it's intentional) the way the glare off the back looks a bit like rain!

This is a very cool ship, I love how the sides curve out and then back in. Neat to see it with the sails up too. And that's a great stern!

The density of the greenery here is really neat. I love the variety in layouts that you've used for the buildings while keeping the colorschemes similar and cohesive. I'm also really enjoying all the details, the chickens, the guy fishing, the windmill, the reward for Robin Hood--is that custom or an official print? Great stuff!

Thanks everyone! Another bonus! I'll have to use that argument next time.

That tree looks great... that tree looks awful... I can't make up my mind. It definitely comes close to working, if it doesn't quite. Also love the handcuffs over the windows, didn't know those came in white. Great bright colors too!

I've been meaning to post this here for--yikes, almost a year now. I built for the last CCC; it was my first minifigure-scale completed castle. Lots of fun to build and fun to play with too! This castle, by the way, is somewhere up in the Rakath Mountains, at least I believe that's where LittleJohn put his Black Falcons long ago. It includes a drawbridge that works most of the time I noticed that on the new LEGO castle they used those hump things for the top of the battlements and thereby avoided the age old debate on whether your cheese should slope in or out. I went for a slope out, because I thought it looked nicest on this particular castle, and ostensibly because that way arrows glance up and away. The corner of this tudor section was probably the trickiest part to solve. It's not as smooth as I could have wished, but at least it gets the job done. Now on to the fun part: the interior! I always enjoy building furniture and interior stuff like that. I even managed to get the chandelier here to swing. The dining area is in the corner building, which has a doorway through to the library. Underneath it are the stables. If you'll believe it, I left the floor empty as I built the walls because I wasn't sure what to do, and then after that I decided to do the floating cobblestone... wiggling all that in there was just as much a pain as it sounds. Well, there it is, better late than never right? This was so much fun to build and design, I still slightly regret not having rebuilt it digitally before I tore it down. There are lots more pictures on my blog, if you care to see the interiors and so forth more closely!

Thank you! I really appreciate the vote. I agree, an unlicensed theme along these lines could be a great success, it would be super fun to play with and you could get some really neat settings for builds. Who knows, maybe one day!

Thanks! Yeah, if you had some cards, it'd be fairly easy to play the game with this build! I would think the minifigures themselves are sufficiently different from Clue, but I figured given the hypothetical nature of this why note name them the same thing? Thank you! hehe, that's fun to hear! Thank you!

Detection -
Brainstorming for the Create a Theme Contest reminded me that I've always wanted to do some Gothic stuff, so after finding some good minifigure outfits and a basic story concept to wrap it around, I went for it! Town seemed the best home for it, so here it is. Hope you enjoy. Category 1 Theme: Detection There's been a crime committed in the land of LEGO and we need to know who did it! The unstoppable duo of the Detective and the Doctor inspect evidence, interview witnesses, and investigate the scene. No clue goes unnoticed and no criminal will escape! Greenwold House, 871 pieces, $80 Greenwold House is the scene of the toughest case on the block. Apparent clues abound... but it will take true discernment to separate fact from fiction! The flagship set of the theme, Greenwold House includes the full minifigure lineup; the Detective, the Doctor, and six suspects. Without minifigures, you can appreciate the detailed architecture. Inside, there's enough going on to baffle all but the best detective duo. The interior features six "fully furnished" rooms: The hall, the lounge above it, the ballroom: (come on, let's see that piano again!) The library: The kitchen: The study: The conservatory: (So yes, I took some inspiration from Clue... can you spot all six weapons? Note that the "wrench" is not quite a wrench, I didn't have the right kind.) Greybury Bridge, 80 pieces, $10 The Detective is always on the lookout for evidence... and always has his ears and eyes open for suspicious interactions between suspects. (If you happen to count up the pieces on this one--it's not a mirror image, I left some pieces off the back that are on the front because, well, 80 pieces is like nothing!) Other set concepts: Baker Street, 500 pieces, $50 The Detective's office is the nucleus around which each good mystery revolves. Complete with chemist's lab, study, and a comfortable sitting room for clients. Getaway Coach, $300 pieces, $25 When the trail gets too hot, the suspects sometimes turn tail. This four house coach is a favorite escape route. But what they don't know is that their coachman is the Detective in disguise! Category 2 Minifigure Line-up Mary, Emmiline, Rob, Detective, Doctor, Reginald, Alyssa, Fred aka Mrs. Peacock, Mrs. White, Colonel Mustard, Detective, Doctor, Mr. Green, Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum Higher Res images on Bricksafe and some will be coming to my Flickr too. Well that was a lot of fun! C&C welcome, thanks for checking my entry out!

Lady Cora’s Course of Action Makes Progress (finally)
Kai NRG replied to Kai NRG's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Chapter I Chapter II Chapter III Chapter IV Chapter V Chapter VI Chapter VII Chapter VIII Chapter IX Chapter X Chapter XI Chapter XII Chapter XIII Chapter XIV Chapter XV Chapter XVI Chapter XVII Chapter XVIII Chapter XIX Chapter XX Chapter XXI PS. to Chapter XXI Chapter XXII Chapter XXIII Chapter XXIV (you are here) Found at Sea, One Angry Captain After reducing the animal kingdom around him to order, Captain Argentum resumed his interrupted search for Corry ships. One blissful day he spotted a bit of red on the horizon and, flourishing his seagulls, made for it with all speed. Of course the red flag Captain Argentum had spotted flapping in the horizon breeze was Lady Cora in her commandeered vessel and not a Corry ship at all, and when he reached it Captain Argentum raved furiously for three minutes--in other words, until Lady Cora came to (she had fainted when she saw him, of course), sat up, and waved to him; then he forgot to be angry at the trick she had played him. I did not think this rehash of my previous raft merited a new topic, but the Captain must be rescued somehow before we get to the grand finale and I have already procrastinated long enough on trying to make this scene more exciting without everything falling apart. However simple it may look, I'll have you know that that seagull most certainly does not float on the vine on its own and so there is a considerable deal of photo magic going on there. -
I always enjoy a good comment no matter how late! Thank you!

Like I said on Discord, the lavender stripe looks really neat, I love the unusualness of it. Also like the way you did the base at the front corner, great little ornamental touch! -
Lovely pair of would be sets, really like the farmhouse layout and the bright colors!

This is a sweet little hut, love the lights and the clear water!

It's a really neat build, I love the rockwall concept and you were definitely ambitious with the angles. I also really like your swamp technique. There does seem to be a lot of color variety going on, I'm not sure I'm sold on having dark, olive, and sand green all in the same build like this. But that's nitpicking. Glad you shared this great build with us in more detail here.
