  1. What a brilliant use of those shovels! The blue trees look lovely too!
  2. Great job on the island, the row of tiles and poles looks perfect and makes it easy to recognize as a chinampa! Great variety and at the same time similarity between the figs too.
  3. I really like the details you've included like the chandelier, the table, and the railing!
  4. Fun idea to make the new MOC combine with your old one! Great job ramping up the intensity of the fire!
  5. Double dipping is great!
  6. I don't think it would not qualify; we use DQs pretty sparingly and only for something that clearly breaks rules, but you may run the risk of a slightly lower score if the judges feel that you departed too far from your original. And then again, we might think it's an epic creative upgrade. It's a fine line. Personally, I would think just a chariot would be a great logical addition to the original concept; if you put it in a massive battle scene, I'd probably think you went over the top.
  7. Whoa, what a beauty! Very imposing size and I love the way you did the hull so you can see lines between the planks! Great touch of color with the red and green too! She shows a lot of guns for a peaceful trader though...
  8. Welcome to BoBS! Great introduction, lovely little tree and nice technique for the water!
  9. Very nice ship, great use of curved plates! Really excellent details on the decks too!
  10. Thanks Isaac! You make a good argument for putting it into Old but Gold We'll see how it strikes me when @Ecclesiastes gets the category threads up ( ) Thank you! Thanks Dan! Thank you! I always enjoy it when I get a brand new piece and it just happens to hit the spot on something that I was already working on, which is what happened with those humps on the roof!
  11. What a great upgrade! It's really cool what you did to the colors and textures, the new houses look so good especially that one with a curved roof! The sheep pens are also cute and I like the move from green to sand green. Great rockwork and some excellent interiors. Your X in the tudor walls also looks pretty complex. I think the only thing I liked better about the old one was the castle wall, it was a bit more interesting with the arches and the slopes on top, but the size of the new castle and the two buildings on it are very cool!
  12. The high A feels very appropriate for this kind of building, great roof texture too. I also really like it on the island.
  13. I was hoping to get a better look at this boat and it doesn't disappoint, the front curve with those new angled slopes is really neat! I love the little bit of foam at the bow and the trees are great too!
  14. The interiors here are so lovely, some really nice floor designs, great furniture designs especially that gold leaf bed, and the detailed sewer is also really cool! Of course the outside is top notch too, the color choices are perfect and I particularly like the dark brown roof over the bridge!
  15. That's a pretty sweet pine tree design!
  16. That puppy! And kitten! They really make both these minifigures super fun. Great hat on the officer. That cape works well too, I need to get me one!
  17. Thanks mrcp! The bridge is connected--that took some work though! But maybe not as much work as balancing all the pieces in this position! Thank you... I chose it myself.
  18. Welcome to Kaliphlin! Great choice!
  19. What lovely colors, the light yellow complements the dark red and brown perfectly! Great use of wands on the balcony too to give it a very elegant look.
  20. Three years ago I left my brand new sig-fig chopping rice as usual and mentioned that his life was (not so) soon to be turned upside down. Well here the next build finally is. Because when Guy arrived at his parents' cottage, he heard some astonishing news: he'd been drafted by the Lord of Shinmizu. Every year, fifteen lads from the surrounding villages are taken from their rice fields and trained to serve the Lord of Shinmizu. Some lads long for the change and adventure; others hate the idea of living as the Lord's slaves. Others, like Guy, take what comes to them. So he set out with his few belongings in a sack, never dreaming where this adventure would take him... If you recognize this cottage, it's a redux of my favorite one from Shinmizu village itself. I imagine the countryside around Shinmizu (which is the real city of canals in GoH, Cedrica is a noob compared to this age old civilization!) is dotted with these little cottages. I noticed this fall that some trees turn colors from their tips in, so I tried to replicate that. I'm pretty happy with how this tree turned out, I think it looks good without using a ridiculous amount of leaves. Since this is a redux of an old build, I considered entering it into the Old but Gold category of the challenge, but it's so much smaller, that hardly made sense. So it's just a little something for the miscellaneous category. I'm also donating it to C4C, so if you happen to want it, take a look at the shop. The hardest part of this build was definitely the bridge, took me quite a while to find something that was actually attached. The other fun thing to point out here is of course the coral leaves, I was trying to eke out my small collection of orange and yellow and found that the coral looked surprisingly good! Well there you have it, my storyline has progressed at last. Stay tuned for the next installment in another three years! Let me know what you think of this one and thanks for checking it out!
  21. Thank you! Yes, I wanted to put it in a large landscape and have a dark blue background with a rising moon... but that would have been too big for my collection, I had to give it up!
  22. Thanks Simon!
  23. Welcome to the guilds! Great introduction. I'd love to see this build (or builds?) in a topic of their own--that little boat looks like it has some really neat angles!
  24. This is quite an imposing building, love the windows and all the gargoyles! That monkey was hard to spot. I thought I might have seen him but wasn't sure until I checked the comments!
  25. I'm loving all the foliage and especially all the variety of plant types here! Has some serious jungle vibes. Really cool build.
