  1. More images have been provided!
  2. Is it safe to use this image for the Entries Index?
  3. Return of the Classic Pirates Contest VOTING NOW CLOSED: Click Here for Voting Tallies Return of the Classic Pirates Contest Vote for the WINNERS! Voting will take place between August 28 and September 16. You may allocate 3-5 votes to entries in both the Main Building Category and Mini Set Building Category for a total of to 6 to 10 votes. All votes have equal weight (position/order is irrelevant) and you may only assign one vote per entry. How to Vote Read and understand the complete Voting Rules. Review all the contest entries Create a new post in this and in two separate lists, simply name the 3-5 entries from each category you'd like to assign your votes to. Include both the Entry's Name and the Builder's Name to avoid confusion as some entries have similar names. And ideally write a heading for each list with the name of the Building Category: For example: There are only TWO categories The Main Building Category and the Mini Set Building Category. There is NO category distinction as to whether an entry is a new set concept or a remake of an existing set. That is a builder's creative choice, not a category. How many entries can I vote for? A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 in each category for a total of to 6 to 10 votes over both categories. Please only create one post in this topic When counting votes we want to ensure the process is efficient and transparent as possible. So if you: Have a question, feedback or a concern regarding the voting process, please post in the Voting Rules topic. Feel the need to discuss a particular creation, please do so in that creation's entry topic.
  4. Your sister knows how to put a good spin on the desert island concept! I have added it to the Entries Index.
  5. Do you happen to have the video on YouTube?
  6. It does indeed look like we're off to the races here! I have added it to the Content Entries Index for ye.
  7. Good to see you're putting this children to good use! I have added it to the Content Entries Index for ye.
  8. Overworked due to running a LEGO Pirates fan community and hosting a contest - can be fatal! Wow! But as mentioned elsewhere - it looks like it needs more greenery. Probably because of the use of the smaller palm leaves. Needs the large, classic palm leaves like the original set.
  9. A Regulator is responsible for the minor upkeep of the forums, so tasks include: Ensuring Pirate MOCs and posted in the Pirate MOC Forum, and not the main LEGO Pirates Forum. Ensuring that topic titles don't contain errors and have consistent prefixes. I.e. [ENTRY] not [entry] Assisting to keep the Contest Entry Index or other indices updated. As we only have one active Pirate Regulator I've been doing this entirely by myself - so it would be great to have more help for future contests.
  10. Thank ye - but unfortunately the video URL has somehow been stripped out so the video is not displaying. Do you have a link to where the video is being hosted?
  11. Thank ye - you're at the top of the list!
  12. Why yes there is! We need to recruit new Regulators, Moderators and bloggers. And this contest has certainly revealed some promising candidates... if they're interested. But recruitment can't begin until after the contest to avoid favoritism, as it might look dubious if someone won a prize and joined the crew all in the same month.
  13. What joy! Ominous Isle discussion can be found in the [OFFICIAL] Bricklink Designer Program - "Ominous Isle" passes review topic. And a blog post with more in depth information.
  14. The design is modular if that's any reassurance... and from September 2023 to May 2024 the designer will be "Working with Model Governance and Building Instructions teams, and making any final necessary adjustments before locking the designs for pre-production."
  15. That's wonderful news! Thank you for reporting this.
  16. So many great new set concepts are appearing - I have added it to the Entries Index! Is there a video of this feature in action?
  17. And you've succeeded! It's a great update to what I assume is the cabin of the Black Seas Barracuda! I have added it to the Entries Index.
  18. Thank you for the feedback! Lack of time is the reason many things don't get done, and that's because this all has be done in people's spare time. Actually it's the opposite. The forum began languishing last decade after social media rose to prominence and in general forums became a less popular form of communication. So it was either build a social media presence and drive traffic to the website and forum, or fade into obscurity. I don't have the exact figures on the top of my head (if time permits I'll review them)... But as an observation, since the announcement of 10320 Eldorado Fortress and this contest, the LEGO Pirates Forum has not been this active since the early 2010s. I agree... but unfortunately: Prizes and shipping are expensive so we rely on generous sponsors - and the current prize pool is what we're given this year On top of managing the forum, blog, social media, etc. the contest consumes a lot of personal time. So I don't have enough time to do much more.
  19. I'd be more interested in getting them to stick around. Is there a way to achieve that after voting ends?
  20. Market research. To find out exactly what people want in a contest. But also because this contest was arranged rather hurriedly as I was departing on a one month voyage spanning 6 countries. I arranged what I could while also arranging the trip... the latter had to take priority. And then I was absent from the forum for an entire month. So I picked up the pieces when I got back, while also having to catch up on everything else in life. Not the most ideal approach, but it was either that or no contest.
  21. Registering new Eurobricks accounts to vote isn't a problem providing each account is created in the name of the person registering it. But if an account looks suspicious then we'll require the account holder to verify their identity.
  22. Problem is how do you define a lurker? Possible scenarios: Someone who registers a Eurobricks account for the purpose of voting Someone who has previously registered an account but is only active for the purpose of voting Someone who's active on Eurobricks daily but not dedicated to the LEGO Pirates forum yet wants to vote It's that last one that complicates things because the first two you can say X number posts... But scenario 3 is someone could have 10,000 posts but rarely posts in LEGO Pirates. The point is 10 votes is almost twice the work of 6 votes, and therefore may deter some people from voting at all Aye, quality over quantity. But again, the concern is not enough votes to avoid draws or a voting participation too low.
  23. That certainly is an overhaul! But realistically, a set containing less than 50 pieces would not have 4 minifigures, unless it was a minifig/Battle Pack. So 3 minfigs is very generous for the size.
