Good to see Ray the Castaway managed to escape, even if it did involve inviting his friends to lunch.

Return of the Classic Pirates Contest VOTING CLOSED! Click to skip ahead to the vote tallies. Voting Rules Voting will take place between August 28 and September 16. You will have the opportunity to allocate 3-5 votes to entries in both the Main Building Category and Mini Set Building Category for a total of to 6 to 10 votes. All votes have equal weight and you may only a assign a one vote per entry. How to Vote Read and understand the complete Voting Rules below. Review all the contest entries Create a new post in this and in two separate lists, simply name the 3-5 entries from each category you'd like to assign your votes to. Include both the Entry's Name and the Builder's Name to avoid confusion as some entries have similar names. And ideally write a heading for each list with the name of the Building Category: For example: There are only TWO categories The Main Building Category and the Mini Set Building Category. There is NO category distinction as to whether an entry is a new set concept or a remake of an existing set. That is a builder's creative choice, not a category. How many entries can I vote for? A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 in each category for a total of to 6 to 10 votes over both categories. Please only create one post in the voting topic When counting votes we want to ensure the process is efficient and transparent as possible. So if you: Have a question, feedback or a concern regarding the voting process, please post in this topic. Feel the need to discuss a particular creation, please do so in that creation's entry topic. Creative Critics You may also weigh-in your final thoughts and commentary along with your votes. Your closing thoughts will also be considered to determine the winner of the Creative Critic Category. These thoughts are not intended to be discussion, so only one post per critic. Again, if anyone feels the need to respond, please do so in the appropriate entry topic(s). Be sure to quote the Creative Critic you're responding to so they're alerted. How will Winners be Determined? It will be as simple as counting the votes. Main Building Category The entry with the most votes will win 10320 Eldorado Fortress (or prize pool of equivalent value) The entry with the second most votes will a set chosen by the builder to the value of 70€ The entry with the third most votes will win a set chosen by the builder to the value of 35€ Mini Set Building Category The entry with the most votes will win a set chosen by the builder to the value of 35€ What Happens if there is a Draw? The final week of voting (September 9 - 16) will be used to settle draws. If by September 9 a draw is highly likely, the entries which have achieved an equal number of votes will face off against each other in a second voting poll. Frequently Asked Questions How many categories are there? Two. The Main Building Category and the Mini Set Building Category. There is NO category distinction as to whether an entry is a new set concept or a remake of an existing set. This is the builder's choice, not a category. Do I have to vote for at least three entries per category? Yes. A minimum of 3 votes and a maximum of 5 votes in both the Main Building Category and the Mini Set Building Category. Select the 3-5 entries you admire most in each category. If you're unsure which entries to select, here are some suggested criteria: Can you imagine the entry being released as an official LEGO set? For new set entries: has the builder found an original concept? For remake entries: has the builder managed to update the original set's design while offering new innovations? Has the design concept been executed well? Can I change my vote distribution? E.g. 8 votes in the Main Building category and 1 vote in the Mini Set Building Category? No. A maximum of 5 votes per category; no more, no less. Can I vote for 3 entries in one category and 5 entries in the other? Yes. Providing the other category has a minimum of 3 votes and a maximum of 5 votes. Can I change who I voted for after I've voted? No. Once you've voted, your vote is final. This is to prevent manipulation of the voting system after the results provide an indication of which entries are leading. So ensure you are 100% certain with your choices before submitting your vote. If you are found to have changed your votes, they will be invalidated. Can I vote for my own entry? You may vote for one of your own entries in each category, but your remaining votes must be allocated to two different entries (per category) submitted by other builders. Can I assign more than one vote to the same entry? No. One vote per entry. Can my votes be invalidated? Yes. If you fail to comply to the voting rules or attempting to cheat, your votes may be removed. Can I register a Eurobricks account to vote? Providing you don't already have a Eurobricks account. If you are found to have voted from multiple accounts ALL your votes will be invalidated. Those suspected of creating or voting from multiple accounts may be required to verify their identity for each account. Can I register a Eurobricks account on behalf of another person to vote? No. This avoids of complications arising from people who attempt to create multiple accounts to vote. You must vote from your own account, registered using your own personal details. I have previously registered more than one Eurobricks account can I vote from each account? No. Vote from the account in which you're most active. If you vote from more than one account, ALL your votes will be invalidated and your non-primary accounts will be deleted. Just wondering about the topic title "Start small mini" Was that meant to be the final title? Something like "Rick One Eye's Pinnace" would be more interesting.

Sounds like yet another pirate-themed set that would fit in with your LEGO City amusements, rather than with your LEGO Pirates.
-
Wow! So many great ship MOCs being shared even though the Return of the Classic Pirates contest is stealing the spotlight. @Captain Braunsfeld - may I put forth this as a suggestion for a future frontpage MOC?

Actually were illustrating the point of why LEGO has been grouping older obsolete themes under established longstanding themes like Ninjago or City. The point being I'm vaguely aware of Ninjago and City set releases, while completely oblivious to Hidden Side - it's been almost 3 years and I've only just learned it existed.
-
The LEGO Group should have released it as part of Ninjago and I might be aware of it.
-
And immediately I'm like "What's Hidden Side?" That theme seems to have slipped past me.
-
Do you require assistance posting images?
-
This is a fine little boat set to be sure! But is there any particular reason you opted for a brick built sail? Is it because it's hard to achieve fabric sails in Stud.io?
-
Ninjago has become the "catch all" branding for non-licensed historic and adventure themes, just like "City" is now the "catch all" branding for non-licensed themes set in modern, I.e. Town, Space, Arctic Adventure, etc. Which from a marketing perspective is more efficient, because why put funds and resources towards marketing obsolete themes, when they can reintroduce them as sub-themes of established, long running themes which are already planted into the consciousness of consumers.

While the Pirates of the Carribean set included the "rotisserie" the box art didn't depict it in use.

[CONTEST] Creative Critic Leaderboard - Final Scoring
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
This is not a final evaluation because weeks remain before the contest ends and the leaderboard positioning may change based on further critic activity. Creative Critic First Impressions After evaluating the dozens of Creative Critic feedback posts, here are some brief first impressions which correlate to the leaderboard positioning. These impressions endeavour to be a fair as possible, but if a Creative Critic disagrees, they may request additional clarification, or highlight contributions they believe should be more closely considered during the next evaluation. @thewatchman Has been active throughout the duration of the contest but while useful, feedback has been provided as lists rather that in a form that engages conversation. @TimGoodwin Provided some brief but useful feedback within the first week of the contest but has ceased participation. @hikouki Yet to participate. @Dreamweb Imparted some useful building advice during the earlier part of the contest but participation waned after a few weeks. @iragm A high level of participation with each post providing in depth feedback. Posts providing subsequent feedback are quite often more detailed than the initial post. Has also contributed ideas to contest management topics. @Yoggington Provided some helpful building advice with visual examples during the first month of the contest but participation has since stalled. @durazno33 Provided some helpful feedback during the first couple of weeks of the contest but participation has ceased. @YourLocalB2 Yet to participate. @MstrOfPppts Provided thorough feedback throughout the duration of the contest and subsequent feedback is often very detailed, but has neglected the Mini Set Category entries. Has also excelled at providing useful suggestions in contest management topics. @LetsBrick Feedback has been very minimal on other entries. @ActiveJason Yet to participate. @NOD Has only provided feedback on a couple of entries but solid feedback despite the German to English translation. @JeffBuilds Yet to participate. @Seaber Some good, yet brief feedback in early July. Participation stalled after a few days. @Jeff of Clubs Yet to participate. @Horation Great participation with regular feedback that engages conversation. Has also contributed ideas to contest management topics. @Retrocity Yet to participate. @Rogue Redcoat Great participation since registration with feedback that stimulates discussion, but has neglected entries from first few weeks of contest. Has also contributed ideas to management topics. @Piraten Yet to participate. @Marooned Marin Helped avert two crises and restore order to the contest. Very welcoming towards entrants and provided solid building advice! But participation has waned during August. @Interactive Bricks Provided good feedback on some of the earlier entries but participation has ceased. @Tayaya Yet to participate. @Mazin Great of level of participation! Has done well to provide feedback on entries submitted after registration but neglected entries submitted during the first month of the contest. @TalonCard Yet to participate. @Mike S Yet to participate. -
Return of the Classic Pirates Contest Creative Critic Leaderboard August 10 Update August 21 Update September 16 Update Finalist Scores & How the Winner was Determined This topic offers a evaluations of Creative Critic performance based on the following criteria: Written Assessment Criteria These criteria assessed the critics' writing abilities: The helpfulness of each critics' feedback. Whether the building entrant considered or actioned feedback received by critics. Whether the critics' engagement stimulated the discussion surrounding the entry. Activity Assessment Criteria These criteria assessed the level of participation in relation to other critics: When the critic commenced and/or ceased participation. Whether the critics' feedback encompassed a wide variety of entries spanning the entire duration of the contest, or just entries submitted during a certain time frame. Whether the critic followed up on their initial feedback and the frequency of their response when directly engaged The length and comprehensiveness of the critics' responses Whether the critic also participated in contest administration topics or just entry topics. Whether the critic took creative initiatives beyond the initial expectations. Whether the critic adhered to the Creative Critic terms and conditions. The helpfulness of the critiques and feedback Whether the builders consider or action the feedback Whether critic engagement has stimulated the discussion A Creative Critic left very helpful feedback on my entry - I think it should be noted! Building category entrants may also nominate critics who've provided useful feedback by posting in this topic and explaining how their feedback helped. Another topic dedicated to this matter will be available after August 27. I haven't registered but I've provided feedback, does it still count? No. If you haven't registered, your feedback has not been evaluated. Registrations have closed. Nonetheless, you may register now and any feedback you've left will be included in the next evaluation. Is it too late to register or participate? Yes, the contest has ended and the winner has been announced. No. But to be fair to critics who have participated throughout the entire duration of the contest, you'll need to consider earlier entries, not just those from the time you register or commence participation. If you're able to reignite discussion in those topics, that will count in your favour. So don't expect to swoop in towards the end with some great feedback on a few recent entries and expect that will land you the prize - you'll need to put in as much work as the critics who have been most engaging overall.

The bandana colour palette seems rather limited these days... either red or blue... or maybe that's how it was to begin with before green, black and white were eventually introduced. But if we deduce all skeletons wearing red bandanas are the same character, that may limit our cast of characters. Nonetheless, there is a slight discrepancy - the bandana included in the original 6276 Eldorado Fortress be this: Whereas, the bandana included with 10320 Eldorado Fortress and 10679 Pirate Treasure Hunt be different: So does the difference in bandana design indicate different characters? Or maybe this is over-complicating the matter... The minfigure designs have been updated from the originals, so the updated bandana design is merely aesthetic.

[ENTRY] SIN ISLAND: Keg & Cutlass Inn + Comic book
Mister Phes replied to Marooned Marin's topic in Pirate MOCs
A comic always provides extra play value! You sure showed them!
