  1. Very good pictures. I like sets without PF motors bundled in. Keeps the price down. Can't see any differential in rear axles. Would have been good it it were provided. B model is rubbish.
  2. I like LA better than Pneumatics. LAs are long lasting. Pneumatatics become bit of hit and miss after few years. I'm sure Cuusoo Landrover will not be released in its original form. It is too complex to be an official set. However, I am hoping that TLG might revive a proper super car (with gearbox) as they have not done so now for 2 decades!
  3. Is there a chance that Cuusoo Land Rover (possibly in a simplified form) will appear in 2014 2H?
  4. Let me add my 2p here. I am both into Lego (Technic only for long time) and G scale trains (recent hobby - LGB/Playmobil only) in garden. Most "cheaper" (still hundreds of $£€) locos are track powered only! The battery vs track power debate have been done to deaths on various forums. There is no correct answer - it is what YOU want. I love PF motors! Electric is a mess in outdoor and loops are pain.
  5. Yes at this moment it doesn't go faster than this But I think I can re arrange the cogs to go faster. I'm thinking of a way to create a body shell but I'm bit struggling with studless design (I came from old school studfull Technic sets) I'm lacking enough quantity of studless panels - need to order few of them first.
  6. Can we list here what the scale is for each Technic set? Someone already mentioned that sets 42009, 8043 and 8265 are of 1:24. Playmobil figures are similar to Lego Technic figures are these are in the 1:22-1:24 scale. Playmobil/LGB G scale trains are 1:22.5. The 8258 and 9397 are not in same scale. One is visibly bigger than the other.
  7. While it does sound like a plausible explanation it still leaves a lot to be desired. The 8880 had even more functions than 8110 yet it was in Technic Figure scale. Lots of functionality can be achieved in Technic figure scale. Some extreme models (like aircraft, large cranes etc.) can be off the scale but others should be easy to manage in a consistent fashion IMHO.
  8. There is no consistency of size/scale in Technic sets. Unimog 8110 is too big. The 8258 crane truck is smaller. The 9397 log truck is even smaller. The 9398 has a scale of its own and so on. On other hand, the minifig scale items are fairly consistent. So why Technic is an exception?
  9. I chose the width as 13 stud because it is same width as of Playmobil 5258 (http://www.walts-pla...k/5258 back.jpg) loco. Wheelbase can even be longer than what I made here. Playmobil loco has wheelbase equivalent to 17 studs and can still run on LGB R1 curves.
  10. I have created a loco chassis for running on LGB G scale track [45 mm]. The wheens are from BigBenBrick. This is just a proof of concept as I wanted to see how Technic fits on G scale track. Some photos attached. All parts are from 9398 set only. If I get some time, will try to create a body shell. http://postimg.org/image/x50mvbkc7/ Here is a video on G scale track. https://www.dropbox.com/s/qmo9vc29n28picb/video-2013-10-19-08-22-07.mp4
  11. Can you please show a picture of internal mechanism? Especially how the power function motor is driving the wheels?
  12. How come it is possible that other retailers (e.g. Argos, Amazon etc.) offer cheaper price on many sets compared to Lego's own price? For example, Amazon is selling 9398 for £116.58 against Lego's price of £139.99 http://www.amazon.co.uk/LEGO-Technic-9398-4X4-Crawler/dp/B006ZS4SXQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1361461188&sr=8-1
  13. My own experience of visiting Lego stores shows that staffs has almost no knowledge of Technic! They struggle to point out sets. In fact, usually I manage to spot the sets before they could do it.
  14. I see. It will be great if dokludi can create a B model using same parts.
  15. Superb!! What are EVO1 & EVO2 by the way? Are they A & B model?
  16. If you use wheels from http://bigbenbricks.com/ you can put it on Technic axle and thus it will work on any custom gauge. Although he couldn't confirm whether his wheels work on HO/OO gauge but he confirmed it works fine on G gauge. The picture of that train on HO track looks interesting. I wonder what wheels they have used.
  17. Extremely well done! Awesome achievement. Can you also try building a B model from these parts? We'll then see how closely it matches against official version. Who knows, TLG might see your model and make instruction for C-model. PS: If you have done this using existing pieces, that means TLG should not need any new special piece to achieve this.
  18. I think how popular 42009 becomes, will depend greatly on how good B model is. In fact, with 2600+ parts, TLG should include a reasonably complex C model as well. If B model is a good one (at least something similar to 8258, not impossible with parts inventory) this will be one of the top 5 best Technic sets ever.
  19. I think 42009 will beat 8421. 8868 looks dated now. My all time favorite is still 8880.
  20. LA is better than pneumatics because it is more durable than pipes where leaks can develop after few years. Although it is not like real thing but at end of day Lego is nothing but an advance set of toys.
