I am still waiting for the last BrickLink orders but the first guests are starting to show up. I expect to get it up this week, and will try to give all characters a relevant cameo of some sort. Thanks for the interest so far. I hope not to disappoint! :)

Dee Wheelworks of King's Harbour
Bregir replied to Captain Dee's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Fantastic factory building, Captain Dee, and even more fantastic wheels! I am impressed how round you have managed to make them combined with them looking utilitarian. I will be studying your technique. Your buildings have a very recognisable style, while still showing a new take on it each time. Very nice! And I wonder if not the wheelworks will be the talk of the town during the coming ball? -
@Mesabi I cannot find Lady Zumbro's Torso. Where is it from? @KotZ I cannot find Elise's torso/dress. Where is it from? @LM71Blackbird I cannot find the torso for Rickard Brickford in black. Do you know where it is from?

Lovely little cutter, Bart. I can only echo what others have said about posing, shape, and rig. As to your question, you can only license it for an entity you control, as the cost will come out of the pockets of the owner, and we don't want Corlanders licensing Eslandian ships and setting them to attack Oleon to push them into war! :P But maybe you don't need to license her? You only need to do that if you are using her in the mrca. If she is just a story element so far, you need not license her. You can then license her once the story makes her yours. Hope that helps. PS. Read it again and you are using her for the AMRCA. For an AMRCA you will need some sort of ressource committed. It can be a vessel or troops.

[COR - ML] Market Place in Mesabi Landing
Bregir replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nice and lively market scene, Drunknok. The different stalls are great, and I like the variation in wares offered and the ties to existing builds. The pictures are loading very slow, though. Are they very large and where do you host them? I believe the rules for EB is 800X600 max. Might just be the hosting site and the WiFi here. -
Claims of Corlander attacks are propaganda of the lowest kind, and no Corlander vessels were involved in the fight with the Prio vessels. Corrington will hear the evidence and decide how to handle the alleged pirates entering our ports. Signed Fletcher Also, great write up as always! I do miss the times when each vessel had a sentence or two, but I know how much time it takes! :P Well done!

[COR - Cruisers of Terra Nova] HMS Paladin
Bregir replied to Spud The Viking's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
She turned out a great looking brig, Spud, and the Crown is honoured to add her to its numbers! May even be a command for captain Joshua in it... ;) Her overall shape is really nice and I love all the details on deck. Presentation is good to with clear pictures from relevant angles and the transparent rounds add a lot to the scene. A uniform background (I use a cheap roller blind) and a blue sea underneath would do her good and I hope to see her rigged with sails at some point. A suggestion in terms of the masts. Currently, she has polemasts, meaning her masts consist of a single spar. In reality, this would only be true for very small ships, some larger lateen rigged vessels like xebecs and perhaps native crafts. A brig would have each mast consist of three spars, divided in the tops (between mast and top masts) and cross-trees (between topmast and topgallantmast), similar to how your bowsprit and jib boom is divided. The brick built boat is great too! To Lord Spud, My lord, on behalf of her Majesty I am granted the honour of passing her utmost gratitude for your service to the Royal Navy. The HMS Paladin will be a fine addition to the fleet, and in these times where pirates and freebooters abound, the Royal Navy will be in need of every vessel it can get. We are, however, short on able officers, so should you be able to suggest me a suitable candidate, I may be able to oblige you. Sincerely Rear-admiral Fletcher -
Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Personally, I see no reason to disqualify ldd builds. They pose their own challenges in terms of construction and presentation, and can be just as magnificent. Typically on eurobricks, though, digital builds does not qualify for physical prizes. -

Yes. Also, does the WTC have an account set up? Otherwise, mention it in the accounts topic. -
[COR WTC] More prospecting on Argentia
Bregir replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
There is a fixed, but not equal, chance for different minerals. Coal may be 10 %, gold 50 %, etc. If there was any minerals named in the island rumours, there is likely to be a higher chance of that mineral here than on other islands. -

[COR WTC] More prospecting on Argentia
Bregir replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Lovely scene, sir. I particularly like the cave and the lighting in the last pic. As to the odds, they are fixed. Regardless of the number of prior prospecting builds and their results, the next one is always random and independent. Just like the outcome of rolling a symmetrical dice is unrelated to what the last 50 rolls resulted in. -
Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion, Era II
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Good work, all - Corrington shall truly rule the waves! I have been a little busy, so I am behind on commenting on your awesome builds, but that doesn't mean it isn't appreciated! Also, the WTC has, reluctantly, been granted an official charter: -
"You did WHAT?!?" Fletcher bellowed in his best quarterdeck voice, more suited to convey orders to the foretop of a 74 than for inter-office communication. Passers-by benefited from this due to an open window, but no one seemed inclined to mention it to the rear-admiral. The clerk to which the "question" was addressed hesitated for a moment, unsure if the question was rhetorical, prompting Fletcher to interject "Answer me, man!" "I... I... erhm... processed the WTC's application for a trade company charter..." he stuttered. "And then?" "...and then I sent it to Countess Mesabi of the WTC, and despatched a copy for the Royal Archives.... making it.... official... policy..." he answered, seeming to grow smaller and smaller under the gaze of the admiral. Those deep, commanding eyes under the thick bushy brows had subdued many a post-captain in his day, and a flimsy bureaucrat posed little challenge for them. "Should I... recall it? It will be complicated... and, erhm..." he continued. "Did you see the report from Mesabi Landing? It seems the WTC has managed to attract enough settlers to grow Mesabi Landing to a city." "Yes, yes, I know! Quite impressive, I must admit..." Fletcher said dismissively. "We shall do nothing about the charter. For now! But should they be caught plundering and looting again, I want that charter revoked faster than you can spell 'Corrington'. Am I making myself clear, mr. Grant?" "Yes sir, very much, sir." To himself he muttered "I sure hope you can spell..." _____________________________________________ A little build to acknowledge Mesabi Landing becoming a city and granting the WTC a charter. Will license it as a small cultural build. C&C welcome.

@Mesabi & @Drunknok To the Wayfarer Trading Corporation, The Commercial Office of the Southern Isles have processed your application for chartering the WTC under the Trading Company Act and found all formal requirements in place. Hence, you are hereby informed that the Wayfarer Trading Corporation is now considered a chartered trading company of Corrington, with all the rights and obligations this entails. Please be informed that continued chartering is contingent on unfaltering loyalty and service to the Crown, Her Royal Majesty, and her subjects, and may be revoked without warning should the WTC or its representatives trespass against these obligations. Her Royal Majesty will be looking forward to seeing the WTC prosper in service to Corrington. In service to Her Majesty J. Grant 2nd Clerk, Commercial Office, Southern Isles

[COR - MRCA-result] The Defence of King's Harbour
Bregir replied to Flavius Gratian's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
To Lt. Lavendwood, Your initiative and bravery in the defence of King's Harbour has been noted and I am asked to convey that the Merchants of the city have decided to offer you an honorary sword in return for your services next you arrive in King's Harbour. Captain Jno. Cooke, RN Colonial Governor, Southern Isles _____________________________ Love your action shots, sir! The use of cotton works well, and I like the little cut-outs of the gunboat and pirate vessel. Well done! -

Important reminder about ship limits and the MRCAs
Bregir replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Bart Each ship has a monthly upkeep. (A percentage of license cost - I believe it is currently 15 %) You add up the upkeep of all ships you have active in the relevant round of the MRCA (A+T-MRCA). Say that adds up to 220 dbs which is called base upkeep. The first 100 dbs are free. The next 100 dbs (101-200 of your base upkeep) are charged at 100 %, that is 100 dbs. The last 20 dbs (above 200 of your base upkeep) are charged at 150 %, which means 30 dbs. In total, that will add up to 130 dbs for that specific month. Hope that helps.- 33 replies

The ranking of settlements change all the time, hence it is handled in the Google sheet. It would be an absolute horror to maintain. However, for trade values, I believe you will find a snapshot on the first page of this topic.- 33 replies

Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I'd probably suggest sticking to a three-masted full rigged ship, as that was the all-pervasive norm for warships of the era. Barques and barquantines were, to the best of my knowledge, not common before the end of the period, and mainly used for merchants, as they required less men. -
Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Leviathan is coming to the brick seas, it seems! A very impressive project, BB. I agree with LS that you should look into some curves in two dimensions. Your sides are currently completely straight from bow to stern, while a true sailing ship would be widest somewhere in the middle and narrow inwards towards Bow and stern. Similarly, the middle should be lower than the bow and stern ports so you also get a lateral curve. Bodi's vessels do this very well. Further, gunports should be staggered so they are not directly above each other. Last, you should divide your bow sprit (and masts). Take a look at some of mine or LS's MOCs for example and notice how we divide masts. Rather than just go narrower, they consist of two (or more) spars overlapping at the tops. That should give you something to work with ;) Looking forward to seeing where it goes! -
