Could it (realistically) be done within the current system? Maybe we should take this discussion elsewhere? :)
-
I think we already have a multiplier to move goods from the old to the new world, or the other way around - at least it was discussed. Perhaps it should be buffed? Just buffing old world trade values will only lead to more inter-old world transport, which is not really a desirable outcome, I think. @Captain Genaro: Can you enlighten us? What is the current multiplier? For a MRCA 2.5-ish I'd also like trade value to accumulate, so that a port that is not visited for a turn will be more worth next turn. (And consequently, frequently visited ports will never accumulate much.)

Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@LM71Blackbird She looks nice - although I agree with Bart. Giver her some curve, try integrating the cabin more, and bring those courses (mainsails) down to the deck! :P I have noted that on all your square rigs so far, your courses are flying very high, which makes your vessels look odd! The lower part or the courses should be at minifig height from the deck. Further, your jibs really should be flying on each their stay, with the forefront of the sail following the stays, but that might be harder to accomplish in LDD Personally, I would also take out the ram at the stern, as outside Assassin's Creed Black Flag (A wildly overrated sea warfare game, at least in terms of realism... But I admit it was fun), it really wasn't used since the triremes! Lastly, a bit of gamemaster grumpiness/information for all: Particularly for LDD ships we require vessels to be distinctively different from former vessels. So adding more midsections and changing a few colours isn't enough - at its current stage, I couldn't allow you to license it, for being to similar to the "lightning". As with brick built vessels, if people simply change round some minor parts, they will not be accepted, and for LDD it is even easier to do so, so we are a bit stricter. Hope it makes sense. -
Very interesting, Mesabi. A clear pattern is emerging and it looks like real world trade routes. And as Bart says, it really looks like it would pay to visit the less travelled ports! :)

[COR - Ship level increase] Hiring more crew members
Bregir replied to LM71Blackbird's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Lovely little build, sir. I really like the brick bricks for foundation and the use of arches for the roof. If I were you, I would have added a door in the wall at the left - right now, it looks empty and like it has been arranged a bit funny with that table in the corner. :) Also, might there not be a way to get less "shiny" look to the render? All in all, nice build for increasing shiplimits! -
Looks interesting, Thaum! Will be looking forward to see more. In the meantime, how many Hull sections does she consist of? She looks like she might be small for a class 6, but I may be wrong. Please refer to the hull piece guidelines: Class 5: 3 to 4 mid sections Class 6: 4 mid sections for multiple decks, 5 for single decked vessels She doesn't look like 5 Hull sections, but maybe I am wrong. It is a bit hard to see. Anyways, she looks great and I can't wait to see more! :)

[COR-FB1] Embarking on towards Adventure.
Bregir replied to Agent Kallus's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I can only echo what others have said - excellent story, with mysteries, background about his place of origin, and some funny little character quirks like the compass thing. Nice little build too - I particularly like the roof and the integration of the prefab door piece. I can suggest another background for you photos - I have bought a cheap roller blind, which does the job very well, as it doesn't wrinkle and presents a uniform background. Once more, welcome to BoBs and Corrington! May you live long and prosper.- 6 replies

@Roadmonkeytj Dear Gustaf VonBricktin, The BoC is most positive towards a loan agreement, but wishes more details on the suggested security and interest. We are more than happy to enter into a specific discussion and are certain that we can reach an agreement attractive to all. Please contact me by direct mail for further discussion. Sincerely Sir Edward Summerridge Executive director, BoC OOC: Send me a PM with a suggestion and we can discuss it. Interest can be either a percentage, or perhaps a share in profit, or a small property or similar. I would also like some sort of security, eg. in a vessel. We will find a solution, I am sure. :)

[COR - Era II - Callenge 1 - Cat. B 2] The Nightlight Spider
Bregir replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Yes, I agree entirely, and I could definitely have done better here. I will venture not to get into something like this again, but I will also state that I expect everyone on this forum to be polite and constructive. We have to show respect for each other, players and leadership alike, and sometimes it only takes one more straw to make the camel's back break. There is a history preceding this debacle. That is not an excuse, but an explanation. I should not have let myself been pulled into this, however. Apologies to everyone watching - it is not pretty. Indeed. OOC drama should be avoided at all cost, and I take my part of the responsibility for this -
@LM71Blackbird: Since you are still relatively new to Corrington, I think I can in good faith refer you to the BoC Pioneer Loan Scheme, which can offer you a loan of up to 300 dbs at very reasonable terms. If that does not suit your purposes, shoot me a pm to discuss your specific needs.

Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion, Era II
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Welcome to Corrington and BoBs in general, @Agent Kallus! I wish you a very happy stay and shall be interested in following Dr. Alfredson's adventures in the Brick Seas. Perhaps he may even cross paths with some of my characters at some point. Being a man of science, he may find the Royal Society of Natural Philosophy interesting and for an early economic assist, I refer to the BoC Pioneer loan scheme (as found in this post where you may also find other running incentives). As others have said, feel free to ask any questions here. I will see to it that you are added to our general PM (where you may prefer not to read all the old pages - it has become quite long! ), where you can also ask if anything is unclear. We are (generally ) a friendly bunch. (In Corrington, that is - the Eslandians care for nothing but profit, the Oleanders are a bunch of religious fanatics, and the Sea Rats are little better than pirates... ) I may also note that you have two free licenses to get you started. One free small property, and one free class 1 or 2 vessel, both of which "only" requires a moc to be activated. The next MRCA (adventure game for ships) round has deadline this Saturday, so if you want to take part, you may be able to get a boat built by then. Otherwise, a new round will open about a month and a half later, so no rush! Good luck in the Brick Seas! -
I had no idea anyone would take it such to heart, sorry. I simply always used that combination, and for a long time I was the only one really playing a naval officer for Corrington. It was an oversight on my behalf. I decided for these colours myself long ago as a nod to our faction colours (and Oleon's too in relation to the combination of dark blue and white), but I am fine with changing it to red OR white breeches, as I understand why you prefer not to be going against the "regulations", as being out of character for a loyal officer like Lavendwood. It was never the intenton to force anyone into that situation.

Alex Wright shook his head contemptuously. "The defence seems to be misguided in two important matters here. a) That it is free to single individuals in her Majesty's service to determine, who to attack and who we are, or should be, at war with. and b) That this court, in any way or form, has the authority to legitimise piracy by questioning the official diplomatic stance of Corrington." Once more, he shook his head. "Regarding item a), as must surely be obvious to even the defence, the policies, laws, and diplomatic decisions of Her Majesty's Corrington can never be subject to individual interpretation. That a declaration of war cannot be made by a rogue captain acting on his own. Should such be the case, the state will fall apart, and Corrington will lose all credibility, as being unable to live up to its commitments and promises. In effect, we would be reduced to an anarchistic group of opportunists, not unlike those of the Sea Rats." "As to item b), a political decision is subject to political debate and influence, but once taken lawfully, no court can repel or annul it on the grounds of a different evaluation of arguments." "Hence, I suggest the defence reconsiders its argument. Tyrell's only possible reprove is to prove that his fight with the Sea Rats were not an act of piracy, despite what logs and other sources suggest. Defending oneself by stating that the attack was justified by the political situation is as good as a guilty plea, which, of course, the prosecution will be more than happy to accept, as to do away with the need for further inquiry and cost." Bowing to the judge respectfully, he added: "Your honour. Should the defence persist in pursuing items a) and b) without acknowledging that this constitutes a guilty plea, the prosecution is forced to withdraw its agreement to handle this case in a civilian court of law and instead insist that the case is tried at the admiralty court, where it rightfully belongs, and where Tyrell will have little say in its proceedings." Turning back to the defence, he continued: "Hence, I cannot rightly proceed to call any witnesses. To my ear, you are either misguided or pleading guilty. I have, for now, nothing further to add, and must demand your position on the matter of the guilty plea." @Mesabi

[COR - Era II - Callenge 1 - Cat. B 2] The Nightlight Spider
Bregir replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Really? One can ask politely, or at least in a neutral tone. Do you feel that questions are generally being ignored? To the best of my knowledge, all questions about the challenge bar one (which was a repeat of an earlier question) was being responded to swiftly. I am sure leadership could have communicated more, and no one is disputing that, but nothing warrants being impolite and disrespectful. OK, this is entirely my personal opinion: Drunknok was being snarky with his first question. He was called out but still proceeded to repeating the snarkyness with his comment about complaining. And this is not the first time I have asked him to consider how he talks to others. If it was, I would probably have let it slide. Or most definitely have been less strict in my wording. But enough is enough. Now, my personal opinion is that he is being disrespectful, and that your defence of his actions to that effect puts you in the same corner. You are in effect defending his right to be impolite! This leads me, personally, not to want to work with him, and to some degree you, because I do not have time in my life to interact with people, who cannot behave like adults. This does not mean that anyone will be removed from the game or the faction, but simply that I have decided "not to invite over for dinner anymore." I have called it out, because a) I do not want a BoBs were people are being unpleasant to each other and b) because I prefer to be able to work with the people in my faction. Neither of these have succeeded, so I take the consequences. That is it. Enjoy the game. -

This is not the point. The point is, that if you want to enjoy this game, you are dependent on others wanting to play with you. And being rude and snarky is not the way to go. -

If you do not like my cooking and tell me so the same way you speak to people here, you will not be invited again. That is the analogy you are looking for. -

You do not seem to understand how your negative comments impact others. What you see as an "attack" was me (again...) trying to give you some advice, and what you see as "threats" was me telling you what effect those comments had on my motivation, and how I think it affect others too. This kind of entitled bullsh*t irks me. I am here, as most others, I believe, to take part in a collaborative (and slightly competitive) building RPG. And most people accept and acknowledge that everyone else does this as a hobby, and works together to make things work. But not you. You act like you are a customer. And one of those customers who wouldn't be welcome in my store, mind you. Like you have the "right" to some specific outcomes. Like you are entitled to others rendering you services. Newsflash: You are not. Nobody is here to service you. However, you are allowed to participate, cooperate and compete with others, to take part in initiatives started by leadership and players alike, to start your own, and to make friends and create stories. But you are also required be friendly, polite, and constructive, and to treat others respectfully. If that is not for you, perhaps you should find somewhere else to be? And since you are so fantabulous, perhaps you should start up your own building RPG? You clearly always know how things should have been handled, what is right and what is wrong, etc. You will probably end up stealing away the participants of all the other eurobricks RPG's with your brilliance and your people skills. -

There are other options besides silence and complaining, which I beg you will consider. Also, have you considered that perhaps it was already in the plans to take care of this tonight? And that snarky comments might almost have demotivated me enough to delay it? -

Bregir replied to Spud The Viking's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
While I understand your concern, the Royal Society has a policy of inviting the actual scientists, not the philanthropists. Hence, I am afraid Lord Spud will have to find other means of glory this time around... (However, pm me about what sort of career you would like Lord Spud to pursue, and I will try to advice you as best I can) -
@Elostirion To Juan Alfonso Fontonajo, It is with great interest that the Royal Society has followed your exploration of Celestia, and after reviewing your work on the matter, there is no doubt that you deserve a place amongst the finest scientific minds of the Brick Seas. The history and culture of Celestia's former and present natives is but a dense fog, through which you have relentlessly shone the light of science. Hence, the Royal Society invites you to give a lecture on the subject at your earliest convenience, after which you will be considered a full fellow of the society. Several of our members, including the esteemed Dr. Brickingstone, expert on Myzectlan culture, are currently on Celestia, and hence you may be able to give your lecture in the field to some of the foremost minds on the matter without straying far from your path. In great anticipation The Executive Committee Royal Society of Natural Philosophy PS. We encourage you dearly to continue your work on the subject, as there is still much to be learnt of Celestia. If the Royal Society can in any way assist your continued exploration, you may consider us your humble servants.

@Mike S To Reynald Wilkins, Your report on an ancient temple and the discovery of a unique orchid has reached the Royal Society, and the peer review has evaluated it to high scientific standards. There is little doubt of the scientific importance of these finds, despite so much still being unknown about the long lost civilisation of Celestia and the mysterious orchids growing there. As a result, we should like to invite you to give your initiation lecture to the Royal Society at your convenience, after which you will be considered a full fellow of the society. The Royal Society hopes that you will engage in further studies into both orchids and ruins. Hence, we have bestowed upon you a research grant of 50 dbs to enable you to continue your scientific career. Sincerely The executive committee The Royal Society of Natural Philosophy
