  1. As I think I've said elsewhere, this is looking really good! I have only one suggestion - I think the fortification being build is a bit too clean. It seems like it should be a bit more rough, if that makes sense. For the Republic!!
  2. Good to know - to be honest, I expected it was something (reasonable) like this. Just making a point that Ska is being bombed with questions everytime he logs in... (Also from me )
  3. He wrote somewhere that he would be out of town a few days. And I really don't think you should be pushing him, with all the work he's putting into this ;)
  4. Thanks Robuko - C&C is always welcome, and I appreaciate that you took your time to give some feedback. I see your point about baseplates and borders. While in this build, it isn't too much of a problem, it has been so before. And a border would definitely finish off the build nicely. In the description I do point out, that it is located on a stream supplying the reservoir, but I do see your point about directionality. One of the things I really like about your build for this warzone is the partly submerged waterwheel, which I simply forgot to consider. Further, my current waterwheel design, doesn't lend itself well to submersion Again, thanks for your feedback! It is ALWAYS welcome (Will try to remember to say C&C welcome in future builds. I simply took it as a given.)
  5. It is crazy how much activity is going on in GoH with challenge IV, so it is really hard to keep up and comment on all the builds! On top of that, freebuilds are an endangered species these days! I've got the one below sitting on the shelf, but have had no time to post it - so I will just give you a small teaser pic The Twins by Beorthan, on Flickr May Avalonia forever prosper, regardless of the developments in the South! And don't forget to stop and hug the trees!
  6. Nice looking aquaduct and cool mechanism! A shame you didn't have time to finish is completely (I am thinking landscaping is some of what you would have improved?), but it is still a nice entry! I wonder which of the mummies are mr. Spokk, erh, I mean Spkk. (I really do not hope the Desert King will enfore a language, where there are words without vowels, should he win! )
  7. Great counter, Mccoyed! It fits perfectly with mine, and you have included so many great details. I like the ostriches, the mercenaries, the landscaping (although some height difference might improve it even more) and love the small "vignette" in the tower! How typical of the DK to try for foul play! Vive la République! Everlast shall never stand alone!
  8. Cool little room, Goliath - and nice figs!
  9. First of all, great build. The ruins, the base and the figs are great! Secondly, I am sick with envy over those turbans! Are they from PoP-sets? - I really hope they will show up in a cmf series one day!
  10. Great entry, BP! The posing is perfect down to the facial expression, arms, and position of the cape! Great attention to detail!
  11. I'd say the first picture is the most dramatic and realistic, but the second one highlights the build better. (Although the difference is quite small) And about the build - It is looking great! The small stream, the path, the trees and bushes - it looks really realistic to me, and you combined the different plant parts very effectively! A note about the Leanders: It is my understand that after the Leander rebellion, leander units were disbanded in the legions of Ulandus and most leanders enslaved, so I really wouldn't expect them to be fighting for Ulandus. (Unless of course there are some loyalists, which would make perfect sense, I suppose ) Vive la République! For the High Council!
  12. As others have said, nice original take on the aquaduct theme! And I really like the idea that water is distributed, while some is retained for the oasis. The oasis may then work as an overflow-valve, accepting all the water not sent on to the downstream locations! The architecture in it self is great too! Keep up the great work!
  13. Thanks, LJ! I think white and that dark red go really well together! And since many aquaducts have more than one level of arches, I figured to make them both useful for transporting water! Thank you, my lord Nice to hear, Kai - I actually quite like those arches too. The curve of those middle eastern arches continues nicely into the smaller 1x4 arches. Glad you noticed the Terrain, Maxim - I quite like that too! And I actually think the posing is the best part of this build - so thanks!! The enemies of The Republic may already get used to defeat, retreat and flight - The High Council is not to be trifled with!! Glad you like the waterwheel - It's a modified version of the one from MMV, and although I would have liked it to be more submerged, I think it turned out nicely. I see what you mean about the architecture being a bit bland, especially the tower. However, I generally prefer the cleaner look, as I find too much greebling makes it look somewhat unrealistic. I mean, this is probably a new building (Made by Flagg recently) and not exactly ornamental in nature. It is rather functional, so it would be build with simple techniques. Some texturing of the walls would probably have been good, though. Long live the Republic: Hip hip Hurrah! Thanks - I think I captured the fleeing orcs quite well! Thanks, CB. It gives the most overview, and view to the most details, but I think the second one shows the most action
  14. CHARGE! Warzone 2: "Battle for the Reservoir", G12 The pumping stations of the Flagg Reservoir are of great strategic importance, and the High Council have made them a prioritized target. The Aquaduct by Beorthan, on Flickr While Beorthan is ambushing Desert King Troops in the Arkbri Valley, his friend sir William Drake has led the main force of the Trifork towards the Flagg Reservoir. Flee! by Beorthan, on Flickr Upon reaching one of the pumping stations, they come accross an occupying troop of Ulandian mercenaries. Unprepared and outnumbered, they are quickly routed as Drake orders the charge and the might of Trifork falls upon them. "For the Republic, the People, and Kaliphlin!" The Charge by Beorthan, on Flickr This pumping station is located in one of the streams supplying the Flagg Reservoir with water, and the steady flow of the stream drives a waterwheel, which in turn drives the pumping mechanism. The water is then pumped into the two-level aquaduct for close and distant destinations, respectively. _______________________________________________________________ My entry to warzone 2. This warzone has really spawned a great number of amazing builds! Keep up the good work! My entry to Warzone 2: Battle for the Reservoir in the Kaliphlin civil war. If I get a say in the matter by this build, I'd like D3 to be the next war zone.
  15. Guerilla attack on C9 Somewhere in the desert, a group of dwarves, supporting the High Council, have excavated an old shrine to the Desert King and his forefathers. Cutaway by Beorthan, on Flickr They are now distributing the wealth uncovered to the local populace, while asking the rhetorical question: "Would you rather have the toils of your hard labour hid away in shrines and temples to a self-styled god-king, demanding worship, or put into the betterment of your lives and welfare?" Close-up by Beorthan, on Flickr And an overview pic: Overview by Beorthan, on Flickr For the Republic!
  16. Hehe, cool little build - and nice idea with that "mechanism"! And know that the men of Budd-apest shall be welcomed to the republic, should the realise the errors of the Desert King's ways!
  17. I love the dynamic nature of this build! Especially the grass swooshing aside for the riders, and the dust from the hooves of the horses! For the Republic!
  18. Counter build to Robuko's Guerilla at A14: A price too high Guerilla HC against DK at C9: The Price of Worship
  19. Sorry for the double post! My counter: A price too high The Town by Beorthan, on Flickr
  20. Counter to Robuko's Guerilla against Everlast Besieged, surrounded, and blockaded by Desert King forces, the people of Everlast have been offered supplies and protection to give up control to the Desert King. However, on the town square, a group of strangers have drawn a crowd, handing out food and supplies to the people of Everlast... The Saviour by Beorthan, on Flickr On the podium, a noble-looking, charismatic gentleman is speaking in a booming, deep voice: "The socalled Desert King holds your town in an iron grip, cutting your supplies and starving your families. He claims to mean you no harm, and offers to feed and protect you for your allegiance. But from whom do you need protection? And why are you in need of food? This town has ever been able to support itself, and where it not for the troops of the false god-king, you would be in no need for his socalled gifts!" In the crowd, a low murmur of support is rising, people looking at each other, nodding in agreement, as the elderly gentleman proceeds, raising his voice: "It is said that you should not bite the hand that is feeding you, but are you to rely on this very hand for food, when it is the same hand that holds you in a stranglehold? Who is to say what the price of the next meal will be, should you give up your freedom for this? Will he, who styles himself a god, allow you to live as equals in his realm?" The People by Beorthan, on Flickr The orator looks around, meeting the gaze of many of the on-lookers, as his followers hand out large amounts of fish, meats, bread and other foods. A silence falls over the crowd under the man's serious gaze. Loudly, he continues: "The Desert King promises peace, security and an end to starvation, but at what cost? What sacrifice will this "God" require of you next? Will you give in to his demands for the scraps from his own table, or will you stand against him to preserve your freedom? The Republic of Kaliphlin stands with you, and thus, the people of all of Historica! We offer you supplies at no cost but our own peril. We require naught of you, but that you respect YOUR rights as FREE PEOPLE of these lands!" The murmur in the crowds resumes, slowly rising to a cheer... The Town by Beorthan, on Flickr "We have made it our undertaking to supply you with all you need. We have established secret, hidden routes of supply through the lines of the Foul Besieger. We have done so, not to ask for your support, but to show you that you have ours. The High Council stands as protector of the Republic, and as protector of its people. It stands as YOUR protector!" Silence falls over the plaza, as the orator pauses for a second. "So what will it be? Surrender or Stand Fast? Submission or Freedom?!? I shall leave it up to you and yours, but know that we will do our part in allowing you a free choice in this matter!" A loud cheer of support rises, and out of the noise a chanting emerges, increasing in volume, echoing throughout the valleys of Everlast: "Stand fast.... Stand Fast.... STAND FAST, STAND FAST, STAND FAST!" ____________________________________________________________________________________ That's my counter to Robuko's attempt to take over Everlast. I hope you like it :) I am quite happy with the idea, satisfied with the build and story, but somewhat dissapointed about the pics, though.
  21. The background works well as a contrast to the light colours of the build! The posing of both archers and targets is great, and the wall looks very imposing - and I love how you made the cross section! Good job!
  22. SK, this is brilliant - I like your take on the ballista (And the fact that it works too is just great) and the mirroring of Kai's terrain (in "spots" so to say). A worthy counter! May the high Council forever prevail - For the Republic!
  23. Hmm, Eastgate appears to be in trouble. However, Dugal haven't been able to conquer it through a long siege, so do not expect it to be a low hanging fruit! You are creating some amazing brick built animals, Jacob - Really impressive! And that tower is real cool too - looks very authentic and powerful!
  24. I've got a (smaller) chariot on my desk, waiting to be used in a build, and I was wondering when we would start seeing more of them. Yours is looking great, and the technique used for the base is very different from what I have seen before! However, the High Council will not give up Eastgate easily! (As far as I understand, a two point zone will give a two week deadline for counters, and require two guerilla's to win, in order for control to change over? Maybe Ska can clarify this when he returns, as I am not sure we have yet had final judgment on this case)
