Excellent story, illustrated by some of the finest builds in GoH history! Well done (I hope that the powers that be will excuse you for the slight posting delay?)

Nice busy scene with lovely architecture, I particularly like the house to the right with it's interesting mix of classical European and Middle-Eastern architecture Great use of those new Elves fences as well. The huge archways to the left look more like a triumphal arch than a gate in a defensive wall to me, but as I've already earlier described that Barqa has numerous older wall segments within the city (rendered obsolete as the city has grown) it is perfectly reasonable that a big opening has been created in an older wall (And finally a big thanks for building the parade I did not find time to build myself )

Challenge IV HC Cat B: de Gothia in the Kaliphlin civil war
Gideon replied to de Gothia's topic in Guilds of Historica
Wow! This is way more support to the just cause than I could ever have hoped for! Some excellent builds and the way it all ties together makes the sum even greater than its parts. My favorite build of these is probably "Examination of Desert Kings Noblemen" because it is so well composed both in terms of features and colors. -
Very nice to see more of the great trading hub Barqa I really like the amount of details and various everyday events going on in the build. I also generally accept the amount of tan as Barqa is a very tan city, but one problem is that details in tan like the statue tend to get a bit hard to see.

The Algus Saga: A long forgotten enemy

Unexpected to see you use a baseplate like that (I actually had not seen that one before at all) Great use of it nevertheless I also like the shape of the beacon tower very much. -
UoP +1 was for both credits.

Creepy color scheme Great work overall, and excellent photography.

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Gideon replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
I'm sorry that I couldn't keep up my speed from the first few weeks of Challenge IV, but family (2 kids now) and work (managing 10 people here and another 15 in our office in India, while also working on recruiting more and working with organizational improvement simultaneously, takes more time than 8 h a day...) got the better of me this time. On top of that I had two Lego-related weekends away from my family in May, one to our major annual LUG gathering and one trip to the "holy of holies" (Billund! We got to visit the molding factory, Lego exhibition and even go down into the Vault where they have saved an unopened copy of every set ever produced. MISB 6086! ). While that was great, the payment for these trips was a promise to my wife to stay away from my bricks from May 1st until further notice. Short version: Sorry for not building for the later 2/3 of Challenge IV, hoping to be in better shape for Challenge V or at the very latest Book III ! -
Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Can't wait to see these builds! (You don't happen to keep something in shape to bring to Örebro in July? ) -
Interesting shapes and nice colors One of my favorite details is the simple but efficient use of the axle hole bricks and technic axles.

Nice foliage! UoP +1

Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Whoever guarding a beacon who sees another burning would maybe light their own regardless of the direction? But who is a Kaliphlinite to know how the Mitgardian internal defenses are organized? -
Expected, but congratulations nevertheless! http://www.brothers-...island-getaway/

Great landscaping! Looks like you are inspired by the forests back in good old Nocturnus?
-
Unfortunately, the image hosting site you are using is not considered safe so I can't view it... (Well, should probably not be on EB on the work computer anyways ) Edit: Saw the "mandatory Flickr link", I guess that it is the solution to the problem?

(A noobish question which there is probably an answer to somewhere which I have not found) Is the insignia for Kawashita Group taken from some official Lego print from some theme?
-
Interesting scene, are those plants sprouting immediately by magic from drops from that vial...?
-
Very nice fire! I think however that the rockwork and ground would need a tad more attention.
-
Nice scene overall with some nice buildings and great minifig posing! I especially like the civilian peeking out through the door Suggestion for improvement would be to eliminate the "light leakage" through the gaps between bricks in the house to the left and the wall. Maybe either build something behind covering the gaps, put something non-lego like a piece of cardboard or do some simple post-processing? Either way improve the sense of depth of the scene imho.
-
Interesting parts use, I especially like the waves and the dragon wings! Do you already have the "microscale" and "waves" UoP credits? Otherwise those claims would be reasonable for this build
-
Don't underestimate the power of the sunlight in Kaliphlin! UoP +1 for microscale.
