Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Gideon replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
@ gedren_y: Looking forward to the build you are hinting of -
Nice vignette (the last picture), I like the target and the tree! As mpoh98 pointed out, the photography needs some more attention in the future to take your MOC presenting to the next level.

Nice thatched roof design! Are all those pieces available "for real" as well?- 13 replies

The last version looks great, good job with the house and ground! I think the targets are a bit too close to the archers however, especially on the novice section?
-
Great use of some very good techniques, wonderful MOC overall! A minor disturbance to me is however that the water level in the well seems a bit high?
-
I like the melted/frozen halves of the ground! Nice indeed to see some more of the magical fighters of Historica

I love that stonework technique! Sometimes it seems to blur the edges a bit when I view your MOCs, but on this scale it works magnificent! The color palette is of course very nice as well -

Congratulations Kai, and well deserved! That carriage has so many nice details and solutions -
Really nice scene, I especially love that stone wall The field is also nice and uneven, and it looks like a lot of work to get rid of all those weeds!

First thing is to get a lot of even light, easier on the camera that way. I would suggest being outside on a cloudy day or shooting in the shadow.

I think we really need to get our mini-challenges and the academic program running to attract more builders here and hone our skills, but as I said the most important thing is that we manage to mobilize a strong Kaliphlin core for the challenges. Masa: That WIP looks impressive! Hope you find some cost-effective way to continue on that! -
Nice story, it's always good to have some more background to a MOC Both the creature design and the detailed ground are nice as well!

Nice busy MOC with a very suitable level of detail on the ground. The lighting seems a bit weird however, too light in some places an too dark in other places?
-
Nice figs! I also like the base in the first MOC, it is a simple but effective way to contain the landscaping. I agree that the lighting could be better, try moving outside on a cloudy day or take the pictures in the shadow.

Disregarding the previously commented issues with this being a bit too close to the latest official castle set, I think it is a nice training ground MOC. Especially the broadleaf vegetation and groundwork inside the barracks looks good

I have no problem with us being the guild with the least amount of members, as long as we still have an active core who produce top-quality MOCs for the challenges we will not end up being the "Nocturnus of Book 2". It also still remains to be seen if the Nocturnus boost we've seen recently is a lasting effect or just a boost from ZC's promotion of the guild combined with the excellent tribe mini-challenge which was easy enough to enter without too much work needed. As the sub-forum looks right now I would by the way think that Mitgardia is the most dangerous guild when it comes to free-build numbers...even though I think it will be a bit repetitive with these AoM categories -

Welcome back Schmidt! Nice if I'm not the only one building in Barqa in book II -
Very well balanced colors and a nice structure! Great photography also!

Looks wonderful! When and where is this intended to be displayed? (if it is?) -
Wonderful arches, and that white and tan wall is also really appealing!

The lime green works surprisingly well, looking forward to seeing more of that in Nocturnus!
-
Twisted and creepy = quintessentially Nocturnian! Well done!

Spear Fishing in the Mitgardian Clan Lands (MCB II)
Gideon replied to soccerkid6's topic in Guilds of Historica
Really nice build, the water and snow are both top notch! I really like how the snow is melted to the same height over the waterline everywhere, it gives me the impression that this is not at the very highest tide at least. The weak point as I see it is the water edge with studs, a row of trans-clear tiles towards a raised base, or a base that slightly covered the edge of the water would have looked better to me.- 38 replies
