  1. Nice build overall, but the carriage is the real star of this build! Great reminder for me who always thinks I need to build bigger and bigger to make good builds, here you have achieved a lot with a few very well selected and used pieces Keep those micro builds coming, you certainly have an eye for this scale.
  2. I suppose it works for image hosting, but I have no idea how their photo handling is. What I like with flickr is that it is simple to handle the pictures since they provide downscaled thumbnails of a lot of different sizes and that there is a vibrant community over there as well
  3. Sounds expensive compared to BL for "normal green", but for bright green it looks interesting! I was however referring to the high grass pieces.
  4. Thanks for the idea, got to get me a bunch of those green 64727
  5. Thanks! But my part was as I stated above the castle (and some of the conceptual work for the "rules", which still left each builder with a lot of freedom between the interfaces of each module), so the other guys should have the credit they are due as well
  6. You should definitely do that, you can always rebuild your sets later with the added fun of building them again Lego bricks are supposed to be used if you ask me! (But not if you ask my wife, I will never get my hands on all those sweet pieces in the module houses or winter village sets she likes too much in the bookshelf...)
  7. Shall I count that in already in the application for the next exhibition...? 3x4? 4x4? It is, and I included de Gothia's sigfig there as well as he was rumored to show up undercover as a visitor (which turned out to be true we now know )
  8. Looking forward to seeing Everlast! Having a deadline works miracles for motivation, at least for me I have finally gone through my pictures from the community build I built a castle for a couple of weekends ago. Sorry for the substandard pictures, I plan to "GoH-ify" the castle and take proper pictures sometime in the future when it fits my story.
  9. For the annual Swedish LUG "Swebrick" exhibition, we were a few medieval/fantasy builders who got together and made a medieval community build for the first time for our LUG. It was based on modules with different content, for example I built a castle with surrounding water as my module. The build is based on a depth of 4 standard 32x32 baseplates, with arbitrary width of each module. The baseplates are raised 1 brick + 1 plate at the interface between modules and slope upwards on the last baseplate at the back, with no height guidelines within the modules. At the front baseplate, a 8-wide road is centered. The story behind the build was: "The small kingdom of Castonia is in a party spirit, as the annual tournament week is at its peak. All over the country there is a lot of movement, as travelers from the neighboring provinces also arrive to take part in the festivities. During these days there is a lot happening everywhere, not only on the tournament field but also in the town and villages around the mighty castle". Builders (Swebrick nicknames, some of us the same here on EB): Insurrection (forest 2x4), Carl_T (forest 2x4), Gideon (castle 3x4), Anders67 (joust 3x4), Odidoma (crossroads 2x4), Skafte (monastery 3x4), dalle (town 3x4 + mill 1x2), sweMezza (river 1x2 + landscape 1x4). Forests by Insurrection and Carl_T My castle (I will feature this in GoH as well sometime in the future, so there will be more pictures) Joust by Anders67, Crossroads by Odidoma Monastery by Skafte Town and mill by dalle, river and landscape right of town by sweMezza More pictures on flickr
  10. Nice work on the ground there! For the photography it really looks like your closeups are blurrier than the wide-angle shots, so try to zoom in instead of moving the camera closer next time and see if it gets better
  11. When you shrink the picture, it throws away a large part of the information in it (as you can see by the file size decreasing substantially). So never shrink the picture until the final resizing, which I tend to let flickr do for me. There are of course a lot of other ways to post creations online, but flickr is strongly recommended if you want to participate in that part of the lego community. Posting your creations there also tend to give them a wider audience outside of GoH/Eurobricks.
  12. You could also try to get a small tripod, there are very cheap "pocket tripods" to be found here and there for only a couple of €. Even if you put the tripod on top of something (like a stack of books) it makes it easier to direct the camera.
  13. 5 megapixels is more than enough for web photos (keep in mind that a full-HD monitor is only about 2 megapixels!), so that is not the problem. Maybe try to clean the lens with some lens cloth/other microfiber cloth?
  14. The ground looks good, while the border could use some more detailing or finish. What bothers me most however is the blurry pictures, is that Digimax A502 giving you a bit of a hard time...? But better pictures is definitely one of the major improvements I would suggest that you strive for.
  15. I like the edited version much better! There's something weird with the pictures however, especially the largest one (which looks like it's been shrunk and then enlarged). It's better to upload full size pictures to an image hosting site (like flickr), and then include small versions of the picture in the post (preferrably with links to the full size pictures, BBCode for this can be generated automatically by flickr if you use that site).
  16. Nice snow on the roof and tree! I think that the icicle on the roof protrudes one stud too far however, or is it just that the slab of snow it is attached to has slid out a bit longer...? I agree that some more color variety would have made the build "pop out" some more. I also think it would be a good idea to include a picture of the whole build in a presentation like this.
  17. I agree (both that it is a cool build and about the setting)! It looks more like what I would expect a Kaliphlin farm to look like, but I guess there are arid parts of Avalonia as well, particularly in late summer in the southern parts?
  18. Great! I hope this means that the deck will be more illustrated than the scattered cards we have picked now
  19. Not considering doing a Nestlands outpost in Nocturnus for the 32x32 category?
  20. Really nice house and surroundings! My favorite part of this build is the low part for the hens on the back of the house, and the backyard in general
  21. Thanks for the reminder in the middle of the Ch 2.1 craze! I'll try to squeece out a build or two for the card mini-challenge when the rest of the family is up north visiting the grandparents next week
  22. Sign me up as well, looking forward to building in the Eastern Darklands and interacting with its inhabitants! I assume that it is ok to invent new side characters for this, but is the sigfig also required to be present in one/all of the entries we make?
  23. Nice creepy build, I especially love the detailed ground The photography and presentation is also excellent!
  24. Nice with so many layers of irregular pieces in the border! But if you want to build bigger I think 2-3 layers might be a good compromise to save parts, and it might also be possible to sneak in some good old rectangular plates there as well How did you attach those packs/bedrolls behind the riders at the back?
  25. Wonderful to finally see the final version! This really raises the bar of what we expect of structures on the campus of Kaliphlin's (Historica's?) center of learning I love the level of detail you've put into the build despite its epic scale, especially that both the inside and the outside of the dome looks believable! I also like the effort you've put into recreating so many sigfigs, it gives at least me a much stronger sense of connection to this build when I see my fig in there Feels petty to pick out something negative, but one thing which I think would have looked better is if the stairs and ledges on the sides would have been tiled or studless in some other way. It would have matched the incredible central floor better in my opinion. Congratulations to the blogging, well deserved!
