  1. I like it that actual drow start appearing here again, not just as something people talk about
  2. Another nice digital build! Can't help but wonder if all pieces come in those colors...?
  3. Nice micro build, the lava and tower looks great! I agree with previous comments that something more on the sides of the fissure would have improved the overall impression, at least covering the open studs.
  4. I always use Visio for flowcharts and similar stuff. The only MS Office program which handles graphics reasonably well if you ask me. I think that newer versions of the other programs might have borrowed some of the functionality from Visio...I've been stuck with 2003 for too long however and got used to doing all my drawings there. On topic: I think it sounds good keeping track of the credits ourselves and then presenting it all to Ska (or someone else given power to approve a candidate for a degree) for review when ready to graduate. Another way if we want to stay in EB entirely for this would be to make a separate thread where each student makes one (and only one) post where he/she adds the links to each MOC and adds which subcategories it is credited for.
  5. I guess that would work, as long as everyone is prepared to wander out of Eurobricks to learn how to contribute on the wiki. But if one is prepared to put countless hours into creating a series of MOCs, spending a few minutes creating an account over there might not be too hard?
  6. I rolled a random generator and came up with 16, so I will do "Kaligem" for the second challenge. (Hopefully I will be able to make both of them, but the small one at least )
  7. I like the idea of having an academic system with different levels, and why not use medieval titles? Apprentice-Bachelor-Master(-Doctor) sounds great to me. Maybe also step up the review a bit when someone is collecting credits for the higher ranks? One big question in my mind however, how is all of this going to be administred (keeping track of the credits etc)? Maybe we could glance at how the SW guys are handling the XP system in the SoNE project?
  8. So it would be possible to for example build a MOC with a brick-built creature on a sand dune in front of sideways rocks with a round tower on top and get 4 credits for the same MOC? Or should there be a limit for how many credits one can claim for a certain MOC, at most one credit of each kind (technique/content)? In this case only one of the technique points would be possible to score in a single build (which topic is specfied by the builder, for example "sand dune") and another credit could be a content-related one (for example "Defensive structures: Build an outpost" if we do something like Mitgardia)? This would also mean that the peer-reviewers can focus their judging on what the builder is stressing in his/her MOC. Of course it would also be encouraged to comment on other aspects, but those would not factor into the "passing" of the build. I think we can put up a lot more categories than what would ultimately be needed to "graduate", as this will increase the spread of our builds and help us flesh out the guild even more. I also think it could be a good idea to allow a reasonable number of "own subjects" that a builder can get credit for, to allow for new categories being invented along the way. Of course the official subjects will still be the bulk of the credits needed.
  9. Masterful build! I love the style of the towers and your subtle mottling of the walls. The PF details are also a great addition, my favourite is definitely the waterfall...well done! The cliffs are maybe a bit too structured if you ask me, but that's not unseen in nature either. They actually remind me of the cliffs on the northern coast of Ireland (Giant's Causeway area):
  10. Very good framework for giving us more of Mitgardia to enjoy I think the titles are well balanced and the reward suitable if someone puts all the effort into creating all 36 MOCs needed to finish.
  11. Not as swooshable though I guess...?
  12. Fantastic build! Those window frames and stained glass are some of the best I've seen
  13. Here is a WIP sneak peek of my module of the Swebrick medieval community build, as a feeble excuse for not putting my building time into enhancing the glory of Kaliphlin. Sadly way too Avalonian, but my character is after all Avalonian by birth so the castle will probably make a GoH appearance in some way
  14. Trees in plural, way to go! These indeed feel very Mitgardian, I assume this is not the last we've seen of these?
  15. I thought that the very definition of tundra was an area where tree growth is hindered by low temperatures and/or short growing seasons (at least according to Wikipedia ). Other than that comment your build definitely has a distinct tundra feel, it reminds me of hiking through dense low brushes in the alpine tundra of northern Sweden. One amazing thing with tundra vegetation is that during the short time of the year when there are flowers, all flowers basically come at the same time. I guess those particular flowers in this vig are Mitgardian snowflowers?
  16. @NM: Great idea with the degree program! Everything that encourages participants to improve their their build techniques will in my opinion benefit GoH as a project as well. And isn't one of the main goals of GoH also to make the participants improve? Having some kind of peer review and opportunities to improve it before getting credit for a build also sounds like a very good approach! I am also inclined to think that Kaliplin would benefit from adapting some kind of system to encourage builders to flesh out the guild style (regardless of technical finesse). For example, I think it would be great if we could see more "everyday life" Kaliphlin builds. I don't know if titles are the best solution however, at least not like the exaggerated Avalonian titles (like "High King of the Elves" awarded for one small MOC). It's really that which has made me not advocate a title system before... More hard-won and more reasonable titles in the Mitgardian way might however be a good way to make some people get a few bricks further than otherwise? I'm thinking something along the lines of for example "Master Merchant" being the ultimate title in a "Trade" category. Since Ecclesiastes approach for Mitgardia looks so good to me, I wouldn't be ashamed of copying it I don't know if this could be combined, or if we could try to have one technique-centered system and one content/story-centered system?
  17. I'm in the Swedish LUG Swebrick. Right now I'm working hard on a module for our first medieval community build, due to be displayed only a week from now. I can try to get a WIP up, but sadly I'm not going to have time to finish the whole diorama in time to the exhibition to the level of detail I started out with if at all... I think he means 2x2 inverted tiles?
  18. Really impressed by that forced perspective, especially with the level of blur in the two first shots! I also like all of your small vigs illustrating the story, not least the nice library scene
  19. Interesting choice of colors and very suitable minifigs, well done! I hope we will see more of this tribe as Book II progresses!
  20. Sorry if my more or less in-character post was interpreted too harshly (maybe a non-native English speaker chose a bad word?)! Out of character do I really appreciate what you are doing, seeing Nocturnus come to life (and a bit undead ) could not have happened without your dedicated efforts I fully agree that there is a vast amount of untapped potential in Nocturnus, chosing to focus the start of Book II there is an excellent idea to build on the momentum the tribes mini-challenge has created. Why am I writing all of this in the Avalonian thread btw?
  21. Simply outstanding build! I knew there was more to that rock in the tribe presentation My favourite part in this build is the stone walls, which may be the best I've seen. The tudor parts are also wonderful, I really like your "corrupted Avalonian" style here!
  22. Awesome to see the rumored evil of Nocturnus truly start to become put into bricks! Excellent figures and flawless photography, keep it up!
  23. More great Nocturnian figures! I agree with SK, we in the other guilds will have to step up our minifig creativity to match yours
  24. Interesting to see some inter-tribe rivalry here! Are we beginning to see how the lines in the civil war are drawn?
  25. Wonderful sigfig! I don't recognize some of it's parts though?
