  1. A very well thought design; especially that SNOT hull. I spent a few minutes admiring it this morning. And even with that nasty crew of cutthroats, the patio lanterns give it a party boat feel.
  2. Not sure tbh. I picked it up as part of a Bricklink order a while back on a whim.
  3. Lol! Sea Rats have the best stories! I am also envious of that gorgeous decking and inner hull. The old grey tiles are a great choice.
  4. Wow! I have been doodling ideas for a hexagonal fort for a few months now but I was nowhere close to what you have managed to create. This is a very impressive angled construction. I am bloody envious. I am also a big fan of the gunner taking a sneaky nap.
  5. I realize this is a little late, but I am hoping we can add Gulagurag's Hera's Fury to our existing Letter of Marque for the Peregine and Night's Whisper.
  6. A busy weekend for me: Kaiju's Captain Yharnam and my Captain-Bishop Meloche (along with Gulagurag's Amara the Amazon) had nice friendly chat in Yharnam's Offer Part 2. I also built a trade ship (never thought I'd be typing those words), the Sirrus.
  7. So ya cove, do ye ever wonder what happen old pirates? After years of reaving and looting, those that haven't been confined to the briney deep some find themselves as rich as kings, and settle down to a soft life as lily white landlubber. Some waste away on the docks in a drunken stupour. A few still heed the siren's call of the sea, even if though their youth has fled. Take Captain Bartholomew Preston for example. Preston had been the quartermaster's mate on the Corrington Privateer Majestic Ruse. After nearly three decades of sailing with her, that ship paid off for the final time and was condemned as a wreck. Preston was not ready to be stranded ashore, so rather than drinking his final pay packet away he used it to buy a prize ship brought into Bastion. The best he could afford himself was a half-rotten sloop that had been taken off the coast of An Holli. The ship was poorly designed and wallowed if not handled perfectly, but she could carry an inordinate amount of cargo. Putting every coin he had into repairs and a coat of white paint, he christened her The Sirrus... after a dock hand snarked that she looked like a passing cloud. True to his nature, Captain Preston's ship does not sail all that meekly and mounts a couple 9 lb deck guns to force second thoughts. While occasionally conducting a little smuggling for the thrill of it, Captain Preston lives the life of a tramp trader and is happiest in the well-appointed cabin sipping port and reminiscing about his youthful exploits with his crew of veteran Sea Rats. And though the years have softened him, his reputation as a buccaneer is still largely known which grants him the courtesy of a safe berth in any of the piratical Freeports found on the new seas. ===/===/=== The Sirrus will be licensed as a 3T2. After helping Gulagurag build his 5HA on Friday, I was left with a pile of spare bricks and a 6 year old nagging me to build him a ship. There are worse things to do on a weekend. Of course this is hardly a centerpiece MOC, and is literally the result of me dredging my bins for any remotely useful bricks. The beak head/bow is pretty poor, and the dimensions are far too short and wide to be practical, but it was fun to do as a building exercise all the same.
  8. It was a riot to build this with you. And it is six(6)15lb'ers per side, plus two (2) bow and (2) stern chasers, on top of the four (4) deck guns. Learn to count.
  9. Finally got it done. And here is the exterior of the Flotsam's Rest in the daytime.

  11. The story continues from here ===/===/=== The Bishop waits for you in the alley Captain Yharnam. He asks that you come alone. I have a little surprise for you Captain. Your ship is sitting in the harbour unmanned and unguarded, waiting for you to claim it. What?! Quiet down you foo... Shut up! And listen. The Oleon Order of Faith has been sailing patrols and snooping around Isla del Diablo. That's my territory. If there is a problem, I'll deal with it. Your problems are our problems. I answer to the Council in Bastion; not to psychos. Why Yharnam, you ought to think about the future. You mean when you run the show? You ain't got no future Emil! You're a grade A nut boy, and all the Captains know it. ... Better be sure. See, you can make a good decision if you try. Hehehe Well this was a lousy way to spend a night. Did you get your ship back Jacqueline? ... Yes, it would seem so. What did he want in return? Just information. He wanted everything I knew about the Lost Soul's Tide. ==/==/== This little scene was to officially announce the return of the Mirthless Jest to Kaiju. Thanks to Gulagurag's Captain Amara for guest starring.
  12. I checked out your flickr feed. How did you get the dog helper to look so lifelike? Seriously, your landscaping is top notch. The effort and skill put in shows through, and the story is a nice compliment to it. I of course hope there is a follow-up.
  13. I have personally gone with a loosy goosy definition of "a place where specific knowledge or training is given", but the fact of the matter is as long as you are trying to stay in the spirit of things no one is going to jump on you. It is far more enjoyable to be inspired to build something and then apply a best-case license type afterwards, rather than being given a strict category and trying to be inspired by it.
  14. I am at a loss for words.
  15. That is a very nice bakery you've constructed. Good job!
  16. I appreciate the concept of this and how this ties into a faction wide identity. And I love the tower build/detail/colouring... except for the roof. The dome gives it a middle eastern look, and I am not sure it was the right choice for a COR colony. I did a quick google check (e.g. Kingston Jamaica clock and bell towers) and the all seem to have peaked or flat parapet roofs. If you had replaced the dome with a four slope roof, or removed the dome and left it flat, I think it would have come off beautifully. A very nit picky personal opinion and I apologize for that, but I figured I'd give you my honest first impression.
  17. It's a fine looking (and suitably creepy) ship Kaiju with some great details. I love the wings everywhere, and the backstory on the crew is glorious. It's a great edition to the SR "fleet".
  18. I also like the barrel rack Phred. Consider the idea potentially "stolen".
  19. Glad some persons are enjoying my creative license. Part of it is the limited amount of Meloche appropriate minifig heads with glowing red eyes I have (2) that both have angry faces, and the sailor just needed something piratey looking out of my bin. Pirates are always angry pretty much, right? Mainly though, the oracle told them she preemptively heard you laughing at them and so they scowling at you.
  20. Faladrin, we all appreciated your Tenotclaxcans storyline and I can see you concerned with it being dismissed into obscurity now that you left BoBS. However, Brandon Stark is a new player and has his own story ideas. Let's see what happens before we bombard him with the "You Can't 's". Unless he starts doing a "massacre of the natives" series of MOCS, I don't think his new colony needs to be a concern for you. There is plenty of space on the fictitious play island, simply because it is there for everyone's enjoyment.
  21. As the Mayor of this free port, I am once again pleased to announce that our town charter has been changed to reflect the rapidly growing colony's success. Our happy community will henceforth be known as the (Large) TOWNSHIP OF CHARLATAN BAY.
  22. Just to be clear, I have no horse in this race one way of another. I just found if curious that Nova Terrelli ( a large town) was able to license a Royal Fort. I admit the rules aren't all that clear, but if a Large Fort is the equivalent of size 3 I thought that was the limit that could be licensed a town that size. Then again, it looks like the tables have been edited once again recently.
  23. As the Mayor of this free port, I am pleased to announce that our town charter has been changed this very day to reflect our our happily growing community. What once started out as a small hamlet will henceforth be known as the (Large) TOWNSHIP OF CHARLATAN BAY.
  24. With Royal Fortresses limited to Grand Cities only according to the rules, I'm curious how this came about.
