I was initially wondering why it was sitting so high, but then realized there was a rowboat underneath. Nifty little ship. Looks like a fun project to try on a rainy afternoon, and with the weather not looking good this Saturday I may try to emulate you.

[OL - AMRCA - Sebeus I] Quest for the Flying Dutchman

That is a lovely tower and great idea for story. I'd even suggest you talk to @kaiju, as he would likely "lend" you the Lost Soul's Tide ghost ship. -
[SR-FB1] - Oct' 17 - Affairs of State: Deal with the Devil
Kwatchi replied to Kwatchi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Glad you guys enjoyed the story-line. Had i had more time (and been a better builder), I would have gone into some parts that I ended up dropping for expediency. For example Meloche didn't sail after the loss of the Donatus because he was petrified of Poseidon's pet, the Kraken, but I never got around to telling that bit. I am also sad @Garmadon never got his chance to sink the rowboat. Once I get my ERA 1 epilogue build out of the way, I have few directions I can take (and I am pretty torn between them atm). But rest assured, the 'dead man's gun' is not disappearing. As for that ring, that was simply a random Doctor Who reference. Or was it? -
[SR - AMCRA FB4 Oct] Uncharted Jungles

Hurray! Some else who appreciates that rocks are sedimentary in nature and lay down horizontally rather than vertically. Some lovely tree trunks as well, as other have noted. Q: Where did the red torso print for the guy in front come from? -
Dang! That name certainly suits it, as the ship is quite the beast. Seems the SR have a flagship after all.

With Charlatan Bay's fall to Mardierian military occupation, the docks of Lowtown were a scene of chaos. This of course gave ample opportunity for the clever and bold to "claim" whatever was previously protected by Meloche's regime. One of the most enterprising to take advantage was the Red Gang under the Pirate Captain Orven Reddington. While others raided warehouses and militia armouries, he headed to the ship yard and commandeered himself a sloop-of-war and immediately made sail (as possession is 9/10ths of the law or somesuch). Weeks later, proper bills of sale and ownership were of course "discovered", legitimizing his claim to the Apollo's Mirth. Behind the scenes, many on-lookers and not a few rivals applauded his daring in taking the Bishop's own flagship before his corpse was even cold. ---x---x---x---x---x--- The Apollo's Mirth has the same hull as Hera's Fury, which sunk during the the Battle of Five Fleets. My brother (Gulagurag) and I had built it jointly back in February as a bit of a speed-build challenge and it of course got itself promptly sunk its first time out, though it did make quite the showing for itself before going down. After it was finished I put it in the closet and completely forgot about it until this week's licensing frenzy, when I put it back on the work table and did some minor modifications so it could be reincarnated. This ship will be licensed and was initially determined to be a class 5. It was re-evaluated as a class 6.

@Kolonialbeamter PANIC! Seems I misread the rules on ship licensing, and thought a colony could license up to their SIZE in ships when it actually read up to their LEVEL. To fix the mess I made I put in a transfer request form this morning to shift Sirrus cl.3 and Night's Whisper cl.2 to Kwatchi from Charlatan Bay. Hopefully if gets processed before the MRCA starts.

The Free Traders Hall in the High Town district of Charlatan Bay serves the headquarters an association of short haul independent traders (both legitimate and otherwise) where they plan their commercial enterprises. All manners of navigational charts, taxation rates, proscribed item lists, and general shipping information is kept on file for every colony in the environs. Various trade captains can make use of the facilities on a pay per usage basis, or pay an annual dues for unlimited access. This MOC will be licensed as a medium commercial property and as the HQ for the Free Traders Association, and was previously used in another MOC. (Yes, it could be considered smaller than a medium, but I "rounded down" on the last two so I figure I was due )

Part 2- An Answer is here Sergeant, makes sure none leave the building. Should the traitor get by you, you'll suffer his fate as well. Yes sir, your Holiness! Ah, your holiness. What brings you to the trade... William! JETHRO! Morris! Mayor, I name thee traitor! I'm sorry your Holiness, what are... Your co-conspirator, that Mardierian captain that sunk the Donatus in an attempt to kill me, let slip your name. What have you to say to that? cough Ad-miral. You... cough... you promiseddddd... tooo.... savvvveee....m uh.... WHAT?! What is this? Am I surrounded by turncoats? Your soul will scream as I .... ughhh... Tut tut now sirrah. No need for idle threats; it insults us both. Allow me sir to introduce to you my compatriot, Father Elias Valdo of the Mardierian Imperial Intelligence service. The good father here has been living in this delightful community right from the start in order to keep me abreast of events. I'm sure you have seen him about. I'm afraid sirrah we have known about you and your attempts to emulate the heretic Millar almost from the moment you conceived of the idea and have been maneuvering against you from the outset. We certainly could not have you running about all willy-nilly with dark powers now could we. It's bad for the peasant's morale. Even as we speak sir, my troops are going about the colony on orders to dismantle your regime. I am afraid sirrah that... ...your forces are defeated... ...your oracle is slain and,... ...your altar of power is destroyed. I must admit sirrah, that your surviving the ordered sinking of your first ship was rather vexxing for me. However, it proved fortuitous in the end as not only did it allow me to rid myself in a political rival in Captain Antilles, you also proved very useful in rallying the Sea Rat captains against that so-called Eslandolan navy. The gods do work in mysterious ways I suppose. For those kind efforts sir, you have my thanks and I will leave you with a question as payment. Bishop Millar, the heretic of eras back on whose path to power you hope to follow, never succeeded. Did you ever wonder why he failed sir? Could the longest standing and most glorious empire in Halos have been responsible perhaps? Something for you to consider as you make your apologies to Hades. Best of luck sirrah! So ends the "Dark Bishop of Charlatan Bay". I must say, for a trumped-up disgruntled Oleon peasant monk he certainly held grand delusions. I admit to being happy we are now rid of the pompous miscreant. He was no warrior and it pained me to feign interest in him, but such is the burden of command. Now Father, please be so kind as to find Captain Jardines for me and ask him to join me on the Gorgon. There is much still to be done still in very little time if we are be successful in our endeavour. Still to come: Part 4 - Epilogue ---x---x---x---x---x--- Since I will unlikely be able to finish Part 4 prior to the MRCA (and ERA 2) starting on Tuesday, I will make a quick official announcement here for game purposes: During the Oct 2017 MRCA, Charlatan Bay is a freeport and Sea Rat town. It will be open to traders as per the political standings of the Sea Rats in general. Wish I had to got this done sooner, but real life always seemed to get in the way. Fun fact: Father Valdo is in fact sprinkled through my various MOCs over the last year and a half. Feel free to go back and play Ver's Valdo if you want? TBH, I didn't really hide him too well. And for those you remember the prophecy from back in January, I did my best to camouflage things. Part 4 will deal with the fate of the remaining Nexo Pirates mostly and wrap up the last few threads of my ERA 1 story line.

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Kwatchi replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Just to add to the confusion, I have been portraying Mardier in all white uniforms with deep yellow frogging. I also have a bit more stuff for them created that I never got around photographing yet. If you are looking for SR input, I'll throw my hat in the ring for the NPC nation committee. -
We're going to be picking up pieces of that shattered fourth wall for weeks. As I said elsewhere, it is a lovely ship regardless of size.

Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion, Era II

"Farewell and adieu to you, Belson Ladies Farewell and adieu to you, ladies not plain; For we've received orders for to sail for East Prio But we hope in a short time to see you again" Welcome aboard Lieutenant Lavendwood! Wait! What?! That is some uncalled for character assassination right there. Us pirates are some of the most honest people on the seas. Sea Rats freely admit that we'll swipe all your stuff if we can and we smile while doing it; those nasty, greedy, tricksy Eslandolans on the other hand hide behind rules and laws when they take your things. You best watch out for those sniveling scoundrels. The Corrie leadership should straighten out this young officer before he disgraces the service any more with such ignorant talk! -
I am one of the "worst offenders" when comes to the fantasy element, between my medusa oracle and Captain Meloche constantly doing evil spell-casting nonsense. I also am the proud owner of someone's aforementioned ghost ship (muahahaha). Of course, all those elements have simply been plot devices for my storyline rather than something that interacts with the game mechanics and I add them in for fun. I realize some players are looking more for CS Forrester/Patrick O'Brian universe, so I keep the wackiness confined to my little corner of the world, but I figure to each his own. We're just finding an excuse to play with our toy collection in the end. Having said that, my schooner I built last year was an attempt at more realistic build and I came away with a greater appreciation for the time and attention to detail those classic ship builders put into their creations. So being in one camp doesn't preclude the other. Unfortunately, you can only build with what is in your collection and mine contains more castle than hinges & brown 1x plates. Short answer: I am happy playing a fantasy-heavy aesthetic but I understand if you want to ignore me to be more serious minded; I won't take it personally.

@Captain Genaro I have a question concern escort design. If I put a single design point into $/Cargo on an escort ship, does it get to trade as well when it reaches its destination port? I am asking because I envision trying a small convoy of what would be ERA 1 Well Roundeds and which provide mutual protection as a group, rather than the min/max escort & trader approach and I am unsure how to make that work (if it can) in the MRCA rule system.

That outrigger sail boat/canoe is a nice touch. -
I like her a lot. A very clean build with striking colour contrast and you obviously put some effort into the sail plan. Best of luck on the seas in the upcoming week.

Add me to this camp. I liked these far more than the presented design. With the faction logos in the square, it is so much clearer that it is a faction icon rather than some random pattern of colour. The border in the metallic to denote participation works better too as it is not the central focus. I care to know which faction you played for more than how much free time you had. As for differentiating ERAs, it could be as simple as changing the shape or adding a second border band. One last thing to add is if the original design sticks, the silver "I" needs an outline imho, because it washes out particularly in the Oleon option.

[COR - OCT FB] Royal Post Office, Camp Isaac
Kwatchi replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I can't recall a post office being represented yet in BoBS (I may be wrong), so congratulations to Corrington on being the first to establish a viable messaging system. The build itself is very well done and that water made me envious of all the clear & non-clouded clear bricks you won.. The fact you seamlessly incorporated BURPS into the MOCs (under all that foliage) made me smile. -
As a lurker, this was fun to follow.

I would not worry too much about your phone camera; that is all I have to work with as well. Frankly, it wasn't until I zoomed in to see that you had some dirt on your base plate that I was sure it wasn't LDD.
