  1. I have had a busy (Canadian) Thanksgiving weekend so I just got back to read what has happened here, and maybe it is too late to suggest anything. Perhaps the solution can be the same as the one used during my ill-fated raid of Bardo as the situation was rather similar. After the squatter colony rejection, my brother and I decided to go full on piratey and raid a colony, and went searching for one undefended by a fort; 'cuz fair fights are boring. This was complicated by the fact the fort building contest was going on at the time, so we were watching the forums like hawks to see what others were doing. Waiting to the very last minute to put in our MCRA we picked the only colony with a write-up that did not list a fort: Bardo. The problem of course was that Bardo actually has two medium forts that weren't listed anywhere (still aren't actually), and those invisible forts were going to cut our two class 2As to shreds obviously if the raid went forward. Cue sad trumpet sound. The solution that was arrived upon by the BoBS leadership was to shift the target to Tarlo (a Mardier NPC town) and we went with it because it struck us as pretty funny at the time. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/129728-sr-mcra-mar-16-the-other-true-tale-of-the-sacking-of-tarlo/#entry2533347 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/129616-sr-mcra-mar-16-the-true-tale-of-the-sacking-of-tarlo/#entry2532618 So perhaps the solution is just that simple; "Eslandolan navigators got their coordinates wrong and invaded the wrong Island". That saves the builds already put in place and a stereotype of bumbling merchants can be created. :) In the end, if I'd have stopped building when I had an EGS set-back, I likely would have been quitting monthly at this point ('cuz my luck seems to be non-existent; I enjoy whinging about being the unluckiest pirate though ). But I have fun through a hobby involving puttering around with bricks too much to let some made up e-monopoly money get me down. My 2 dBs
  2. Thanks. (Sorry for the late reply) One question: Since a Salt Mine has the same cost/yield as a Rock Quarry, would it be possible to switch? It would make it easier to create a story behind it.
  3. To play devils advocate, this was no different than the reaction I got when I suggested to KaiRNG in PMs back in the spring that I was thinking of putting a squatters town on Salide Este. I was told I would be unequivocally removed without any recourse by the ruling council as it was a Eslandola Island, and any properties would be lost. So this should hardly be a shock to the Eslandolan leadership as the precedent was set by them.
  4. I love your idea for the harbour wall. It was the perfect use for those large stone wedge bricks in my mind. As for all these ongoing story arcs (Private Co. war versus Mardier; Mad King against Oleon; and now Revolution in Pontelli) has me wondering if Eslandola is not the most drama filled nation in Lego history. You know something is amiss when a pirate-ish faction seems more stable by comparison. Personally I blame too much disposable income. Very entertaining to watch from the outside of course.
  5. Cripes! Aiden Coyle looks like Meloche's red doppelgänger in that pic; I may have to have mine grow the beard back. :) However what caught my attention is that I've have been slowly working on a fort in a similar style that yours Mike (i.e. sloped walls) Of course now that I see yours, I'll redouble my efforts... and scrounge up a lot more of those grey wall brick pieces.
  6. I'm a bit late to the party, but a lovely facade Bregir. Oddly enough, my favourite part is the door; the texture and handle is something I may emulate.
  7. The island was 'Infero Pordejon'; same one as Charlatan Bay was established on. I can't recall the number, but it had this description:
  8. @SkaForHire Well, to keep the trend going, here's a prospecting build my brother did back in June. :)
  9. Welcome aboard Mengish! I really like how you built the wave. You may want to introduce yourself in the stickied Sea Rat thread so you can be properly initiated.
  10. I'm not sure if I missed it, but I assume that the MCRA is delayed again. Is there an official notice and a new target date?
  11. The Jade Piranha is visually stunning. It does seem little blocky at the bow (it must handle like a shopping cart) but the colouring is gorgeous and the hull scaling was well conceived. Do you grubby merchants ever stop?
  12. I had to scrap my original plan for lack of appropriate bricks, but I hope to have something decent done in time. Never mind. It hasn't come together as I had hoped and I am going to drop the project.
  13. Welcome aboard you two.
  14. It's not small; its cozy! :) Thanks all. While the peeling wall paint did not come off as well as I liked, I am pretty happy with it. Frankly, matching Mike S' vision for Stormhaven was the toughest part. And a cookie for Ayrlego for catching the movie reference.
  15. Salt Marsh Cottage [Licence Status: YES] [Type: Residence, Small]
  16. After many years at sea, the Corrington privateer Captain Hansella finally amassed enough gold to comfortably retire. He had built a small cottage at the edge of the salt marshes near the hamlet of Stormhaven on the far off island of Serentia. There, he entered polite society again and could be frequently seen walking his dog Chewie amongst the tidal pools. Of course, unfounded rumours always swirled around the former Master of the Epoch Falcon. Local fishermen whispered about how a single lantern was always set alight at his cottage on moonless nights, and that the occasional sighting of a black ship on those very nights was usually followed by an abundance of rum, tobacco, and other goods without custom stamps appearing in town soon after. Some less flattering views ----- This is my reciprocal build for an arrangement I made with Mike S. way back in June. (Sorry for the long delay Mike.) It will be licensed in Stormhaven as a small residence.
  17. Nice little build. I like the effort put into the frame. Too often it is simply the default black, and this ones blends in well and appeals to me. The ESL internal issue seems resolved, which I am glad to see.
  18. Don't get me wrong. I've had plenty of stuff to do now. I just happen to have lousy luck when it comes to MCRAs, and I enjoy joke-whinging about being the worst pirate. Heck, I managed to get lost and raid the wrong town during my only success. Just glad things are finally ramping back up in BoBS; just as I started to build again this week no less. Question: Gulagurag posted a mine expedition in June for our colony. Any chance of a ruling on what deposit he found?
  19. Considering the amount of people Bricklink'ing the IFS for comparable $$, I expect a single ship (if this rumour pans out of course). I'd be shocked if Lego wasn't aware of the fact. I can't imagine how they'd move away from Jack Sparrow. His over-the-top clown-prince antics is central to the franchise's success. Having said that, Geoffrey Rush's Barbosa (my fav. character personally) might be able to anchor a spin off imho. You and me both. I do hope no one is simply pulling our leg on this latest rumour, as it has come like a ray of hope out of a dreary situation.
  20. A real nice display you have put together. I don't want to parrot other comments, but the graduation of the brown wharf structure is a very nice touch.
  21. Any chance the... erm... courtesan's name is Xenia? :) Very interesting take on things to be sure, and top notch vignette build/photography.
  22. Charlatan Bay
  23. Hi Phred Some troops purchased with town funds on Aug 31st aren't shown.
