Sirs,, I wish to condemn the unmocced vessels 'Chumpy (2A)' and 'Toby (3A)' as prizes. These came into my possession during the recently completed February MRCA.* *In truth these were captured by both Gulagurag and myself, but since I do the book-keeping for us both I am posting this request. However, please send all generated funds to him rather than me.

Dear Sir Edward Thomas Wilkinson de Chauncourtois, The privateer squadron out of Charlatan Bay, composed of Hera's Fury, Night's Whisper, and Peregine, successfully engaged an armed force flying Mardieran colours this past month while sailing the Azure Sea. Hades be praised! We are now petitioning the Eslandolan government for our rightful fees as promised. The warships captured in your nation's name during February include: The war brig Mac Quinnes, Mardieran privateer out of Calisto The war brigantine Toby, Mardieran privateer out of Calisto The armed sloop Chumpy, Mardieran privateer out of Calisto I've attached the ships log books to this missive as proof of our actions. It would please us if you could have the gold shipped through our agreed upon intermediary before the next new moon. And once again, it 'tis a pleasure to do business with you. -Lord Bishop Meloche of Charlatan Bay ==== [Another lucky month. Please send two shares (220 db) to Gulagurag and one share (110 db) to myself when you get the chance.]

I don't know why, but the priest/officiant bending over to see if the groom is ok made me laugh out loud.

That is a nice little ship you put together.

I'll chime in for giggles. Try being an independent (i.e. Sea Rat) architect, and sell your forts to the highest bidder or even work as a consultant. That doesn't hem you in to one design style and you won't be stuck with any faction rules or schemes, because the SR don't play that way. We're the "do as you feel like" group. Plus we have the most Canucks. :D

Great work Kai. That tapestry is quite clever.

Very clever minifig posing, though that suitor looks a bit rakish to me. Great work!- 11 replies

I was a bit confused as to the purpose of the grey bricks at the top of the interior walls until I saw the "hidden" pictures; that cornice you built is really lovely and ties the whole exterior of the building together. I realize you chose your shots to illustrate your story, but I didn't get a sense of how good the MOC was until I saw the overview. The off-stage vignette of paving the street is also something original and well executed. This was a bit of a hidden gem for me. I'm glad I took the time to do more than scan the post, because it was well worth admiring.

How! This is an impressive build. A detailed build and great photography. The red brick with white trim really grabs the eye, and the crate built door has a nice texture. Finally, the minifig face with the bead of sweat chosen for the assassin is perfect! Well done. PS: The fan of kids cartoons in me wishes it was a piano that was dropped on the poor suitor, but not everything can be a comedy.

Very well thought out build Kaiju. And that bed design really caught my eye. -

No worries Bart. We all seem to come and go as life dictates. -
While I think it is a great design to represent a ghost ship and a gorgeous display piece, it lacks the useful parts (hulls, cannons, etc) that I wanted for my builds. I may buy it at some point down the road, but it's not a set I am going to clamour for.

Great map again Mike. Remind me to trick you/hire you to do my colony map when you're not paying attention. :) I'm a little concerned that we've run out of players to start new colonies at this point, which is wasting all this potential. Everyone established themselves early on the western edge, and starting new is pretty daunting.

The lines of the fort are so clean! Don't be offended, but the word that jumps to mind is "pretty". I look forward to seeing an overview shot of the whole island in the future. I expect it'll be reminiscent of a Mediterranean coastal town... or what I'd imagine it to look like (having never visited southern europe).

A friendly note for those of you who own forts.

Seems like a good housekeeping idea. I've put a defensive synopsis at the top of my settlement page as well. -
More prospecting on Serentia near Stormhaven
Kwatchi replied to Mike S's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I like this one the most of your two prospecting builds. Your stream bed shows some real ingenuity to get that sense of movement and the colour gradation of the shoreline adds to it perfectly. And the nagry face works (no one likes working in soaking wet boots). Best of luck with the results! -
The Empire of Oleon: Sign-up and Discussion
Kwatchi replied to Sebeus I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Was this all for a laugh or is there something I am not seeing, because I can't find a 'smoking gun' here. Feb 617 Oleon - inflow: 2500 outflow: 9212 RNTC - inflow: 9239 outflow: 5206 Mardier - inflow: 2531 outflow: 31 It looks suspicious I guess, but that is not a zero sum equation. While Ska is playing the Mardier NPC faction that 2.5k could represent money from the old world or any of a hundred other elements that could be in play. I expect the answers will be at most semi-entertaining and in the next KPA. Having said that, I truly hope there is a "secret payoff" because it would be very amusing for me. It's not like ESL didn't spend the fall making enemies with their 1) threatening to invade Oleon proper and 2) declaring war on Mardier over their island squatting. For the so called merchant faction, the greenies are pretty hawkish; heck, they have been "employing" me for 2 months now to do their dirty work. -

Wow, that is one angry prospector. I like the minifg though; he looks the part of a frontiersman. -

Ruh roh. This doesn't sound good. -
I enjoyed the story immensely. As for the MOC I liked the detail you went into for the landscaping and the walls of the warehouse really pop.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread

Ugh. That trailer has sapped my enthusiasm for PoTC 5. The whole ship smashing gimmick seems like a kraken retread to me. A set based around that is not going to have me all that interested. -
[SR - FB2] - February '617 - The Sirrus
Kwatchi replied to Kwatchi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Honestly, if I removed the side on picture it doesn't look that bad. It really needed another 4 to 6 lugs in length though, and I simply didn't have the appropriate brown bricks. My son loves "his pirate ship" reagrdless, which is probably the best take away for me. The over/under on him destroying it on the other hand is 3 days. -
A great ship! Your idea to use SNOT curve slopes to simulate the lower hull's curve is an idea I am going to definitely steal. Also nice to see another pirate captain getting into the messy work (we may have to start a friendly Morgan vs Meloche execute challenge). Question: How did you mount the prow/beak head? I am guessing it is held on by 2x1 hinge brick connecting to headlights, but it is hard to discern. It certainly gives it a lovely shape.

[COR-FB] Captured War Galley "Carnage"
Kwatchi replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This looked like an interesting project Bregir. The pallette is well chosen and the hull is nicely shaped. I wouldn't want to be in it facing high rolling waves mind you. My eyes keep getting drawn to your lanteen sail rig though; that must of taken a bit of pondering to figure out. And the oars look perfect. The substitution with spears at the far side was both reasonable (not sure I have 9 oars in my collection) and gives a sense of them being dipped.
