I have just suggested to add them, I was not thinking that you have finished engine or not...
-
I understand that your source is Internet image of 1:12 model engine. There are also 250 gto's with black motor heads so you can also use that was but adding fake carburators would be a nice touch. Problem is only that my book (original Ferrari book about some models from the past with authentic images of certified restored cars) is archieved and I would need several weeks to uncover it and to take photos. I beleive that book is best source for infornation because it was published in 1997 under Ferrari suppervision in some 350 samples only for 50th Ferrari birthay.

I know what you mean. That is why I have several spare parts for testing and development of subsystems that would be inclooded in my mocs...

Mclaren P1 Hypercar MOC
1gor replied to madcow's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
But you made great job no matter how long it takes -
Car has V12 with red heads and 6 double carburators, bore 73mm, stroke 58.8mm, 300HP at 7500rpm...I wanted to point out that to make such car you have to read number of books about it (not Internet) and then see how good can you make a proper model. Instead of black panels that look like plastic cover it would be better to make "naked" LEGO fake engine with red plate above and round bricks that pretend to be carburators... I hope that you now understand my point of view. Sorry for late replay...

@powder12321 for tires IMHO best would be if you have a possibility to use tires from 42054 set (CLAAS Xerion 5000 VC)

Thanks, I've correcred post. It should show image of Zetros axle with leaf spring suspension but some browsers could not display image, so I post a little help about how to find the answer...
-
Engine is placed just behind front axle...and as @Dafgek81 said it should be bigger. This was the biggest engine (dinensions of engine block) when you ignore America series that use (if I remember correctly) engines constructed by Lampredi. 250GTO uses further development of 250 TR (TestaRossa) engine which means red head, so it should be better and it should have red heads (6 weber double carburators...). You got the picture...

It has leaf springs suspension like you can see when you search for images on google.com with key words Mercedes Benz Zetros suspension (when I post link to image here it looks more like sausage...)

Mclaren P1 Hypercar MOC
1gor replied to madcow's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This model deserves to be i Hof. I personally do not like modern hypercar designs, but this interpretation of McLaren P1 is perfect achievement -
People usually use Lego Digital Designer...but you have to ask "masters" in that area like @efferman who very often completely uses developing on computer... I'm on the otherhand old school developer because of my profession; I'm IT systems developer who currently works as professor, so I had enough of computer at work and want to enjoy LEGO with my fingers...

It is nice model but portal axles belong to Unimog . I assume that you have no other choice but to use portal axle to make 1:3 down gearing from motor... Speaking of Unimog; my Unimog looks like dwarf near your Zetros

Mclaren P1 Hypercar MOC
1gor replied to madcow's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@madcow forgive me if you already have answered this question, but do you plan to make building instructions of McLaren P1? Thanks -
Very good shaped moc. It is instantly recognizable as Mercedes Benz Zetros. This configuration is mostly used with crane. The only thing that I can say is not characterized is portal axles, Last version with turntables as what is more suitable to represent real truck. Turntable can also look like drum brake from original truck

I know, it is 81.6 x 38 R baloon tire... Big Bud (specilly 747 with 16 cylinder engine) is tractor about 30-40 years old (mostly in white), but rectangular shapes of old tractors are much easily made with LEGO than modern lines...
-
1. I do not know if there is some particular tractor that inspired you so I can not make objective comment. I've made many tractors in the past but mostly classic; only articulated was Case IH quadtrac... 2. IMHO it is better to have one wheel and weight because baloon tires are to wide anyway. If you like you can look unde link to see how to make Powerpuller tire better proportioned http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=535390 3. About powersource - question is where it would be placed - if it is in the middle then go for battery box because it is much cheaper, if you plan to put powersource on one side of the tractor then acumulator is better but more expensive...
