I love reading you two (Deskp/ Fives) discussing things as I imagine your avatars talking to each other. I don't think Thranduil and Azog will be engage in such civilised conversation come December. On topic, I just noted the price point for Lake Town Chase (50 USD). I expect 90 or 100 AUD for 334 pieces, which is difficult to accept. I am slightly worried that this set was shown at SDCC, given the (arguable) best Hobbit set was shown last year. But then other sets could still be 'secret' due to plot reveals, so I'm hoping an Erebor, Beorn, Radagast or Silvan set will have a greater appeal to me.

No, you're not the only one. The head+upper torso concept worked for the collectible minifigures Minotaur (due to fur or/ and chest muscles, I guess), but on Azog it looks to use your expression. Oh well, this CGI villain that should have been slain long ago deserves no better!

Thanks for posting the pictures! I'm not a fan of the Azog minifig. But I don't like him as a movie character, either, so even if he ends up as a 'real' exclusive, I don't mind too much. Initial thoughts on Lake- Town: new torso for Thorin? Has Bard a quiver? Outfits of guard and mayor remind me of Mongolia. Large building looks nice. Don't care for the boat or small building. At this stage I'd bricklink Bard, ignore the rest and safe my money for 2014 LotR.

I suppose you're not one of the people complaining when a set is too far off the 10 cents/ piece price point.

Very creative design! Love it.

Very cool build and great photos! And soooo many Rohan Soldiers! I'd love to get some more, but I'm already saving up for Gondor Soldiers and (hopefully) Gondor Rangers next year.

Excellent MOC that can stand up to Nuju Metru's CUUSO Edoras/ Meduseld (one being an amazing MOC, one being an amazing set to be - hopefully).

Beautiful MOC!

Really well done!

Great build and design! Thanks for uploading. The little details that I felt were out of place were the books (Rohirrim don't write them, according to Aragorn) and the picture of the sailing ship. They look nice, though.

Simple incredible! I wish this could be an official set with some minifigs. Sure, it's abstract (as Minas Tirith or any other city would be), but with some tweaks this would be a great castle for the forces of evil and a great addition to any LotR collection.

Review Review: 21103 Back To The Future Time Machine
Lynx replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the fantastic review! The comparison between original design and final product was superb! I must say that I actually prefer the original bonnet. I love the inclusion of background info and words from the creator in the instruction manual. Hope this sells well and encourages others to attempt CUUSO. I'm currently in the process of designing my first model, and seeing this time machine in its final version is inspiring.- 207 replies

Orthanc has arrived in Australia. Since I'm working both days on the weekend, I expect this to be a long building process. Yay!

I also found the lighting sub-par. The tower interior was very hard to see.

Tower of Orthanc review by DoctorBrikDaddy. I haven't watched it yet but liked his reviews of the first LotR wave.

For some reason I'm not too keen on seeing the new Hobbit sets and already look forward in anticipation of the last(?) Lord of the Rings wave, instead. So far, the LotR sets are superior to the Hobbit, in my opinion. An Unexpected Gathering is the only Hobbit set that is still on my display, while The Orc Forge is the only LotR one that is not.
