  1. I always tell it is for me and see them being jealous and approving.
  2. I would like to see an aeronautical themed contest without strict limitations. Since most of the mocs and a lot of the sets are cars.
  3. TLG should redesign or improve 3l u-joints. They die like flies despite gearing and usage. The part is a joke by itself. It has 4 weakest "sub parts" in it. 2 Bush parts on each side and 2 hubs with small holes. The strongest sub part is a crossy thingy.
  4. If you don't bring "wife's permission form no 17b" in 2 copies, signed by hand, the store won't sell you paint, wallpaper, etc..
  5. I know it's mostly unrelated but have you guys tried colorblind glasses? They became popular couple of years ago. The company is called Enchroma. The technology is really simple, no electronics and eye implants . It just helps separate the light in such a way that it doesn't make couples of photo receptors report the same info to the brain.
  6. If they replaced blue part with yellow, red or beige - isn't it easier to spot it?
  7. Achromatopsia is a rare extreme case when there are no colors at all so it's not an adequate example to represent all color blindness disorders. It is like telling that blind people represent all vision disorders
  8. Don't forget about colorblind people, there's lots of them. I think different colors of parts may help them. Is there actually somebody here to comment on this? Note the beige and yellow parts
  9. That part can't have 2 gears instaIled in the middle. Very useful feature in confined space. Is bracing and slipping big problems? I've never had a slipped gear or axle. Ever. Seems more like a car MOC problem? Parts of this color seem more soft and flexible to me. I wondered why did TLG choose that particular color.
  10. I never understood the necessity of this part, what can it do that regular 4l axle can't?
  11. Precision required to build something in technic ? TLG did all the precision even before putting the parts in the bags. Precision would be required if you had to drill your own holes for pins and cutting your own axles.
  12. I don't see any problem with colors because they are there for a very good reasons. Now many of you are AFOLs who are picky in terms of color selection to a certain extent but LEGO is still a toy. And look how kids/teens and youngsters play with it - they don't really care much about color of the their creations or proper shape or accurate steering implementations for example. I can give you some examples. 1. The color difference is a must have if the parts are kept in bulk (which is almost always the case with kids/teens/ some AFOLs) - it makes searching very easy and effective. How many times you had to look more than once to identify a 3L blue pin? 2. If you got 2 sets one in yellow and other in red - you pretty much gonna mix the colors anyway because of lack of parts, you may then start seeking a specific set which has certain parts in preferred color if you are old enough to care enough. Kids usually don't do this. 3. A lot of lego owners don't have super organized storage and building cabinets where the lego parts are kept sorted by type, size and color. A lot of people keep it in the box or container of some sort. You can always identify that sound of somebody's palm moving through a pile of parts - like a Harley Davidson's motor - very unique pattern. 4. TLG has to use different colors so the owner (kid/teen/AFOL) has more diversity in building . If you had only black sets for example - you could never build a snowman but when you gained a significant amount of parts in one color like beams panels, tiles, axles - you can build something from a different "sector" so to speak. 5. Getting parts in preferred color is expensive. Like VERY EXPENSIVE. If you like that dark blue or dark green - well tough cookies since your selection of both parts and sets is pretty limited so you have to use them very strategically. 6. TLG has to make part selection economically viable for the production. It's not just mixing this or that dye with plastic. TLG has to plan and buy all sorts of pigments in different amounts based on whole production line - duplo, technic, star wars, trains, system etc. They must calculate the optimal solution based on the ingredient prices, their availability, shipping times, delays and they must include many many more variables in this equation to make sets profitable. Do you know that each color cost is different? 7. TLG has to do this to earn money to pay their workers and invest in development and production of new sets, parts, factories, maintenance etc. Did you know that one mould matrix costs at least 400000 EUR? And they wear and tear beyond tolerance pretty quickly? How about getting parts that don't stick together eh? 8. TLG sells you the design (or 2 in case of B model or more) with all the parts to build it. If you have additional parts you can make it RF controlled, programmed, with enhanced speed, geared up etc. You can even re-arrange the parts of the original design to improve it to your own liking! 9. Lets be honest - don't you people have already accumulated enough parts to rebuild a small part of a set to fit to your color preference? It seems to me that a lot of AFOLs are getting too picky and spoiled - just look at yourselves - COLOR BARF, COLOR VOMIT etc. Like really? REALLY? Is that what you think of TLG? Go check their competitors or knock offs. TLG is one of the few good reliable manufacturer of plastic toys in terms if Q&C and this is what you think of them?
  13. Most of the technic sets use 1 motor and gearbox. One can use 2 battery boxes in very expensive sets like flagships. I assume linking could be done through the programming.
  14. WOW! This is such a beautiful model and it has so much functions! I never liked the original set, but now I'm convinced to buy it just to build this helicopter!
  15. If the set is assembled correctly the upper grey panel with the "02" sticker can not open in this configuration. However the lower panel can open upwards. I think either a mistake was made during the assembly or the upper panel with the "02" sticker is not intended to move. Based on the black pins configuration between the 2 panels. However a simple correction may make both panel operable. EDIT: If orange axle connectors are "handles" and not connected to the frame then both panels open. Upper one opens upwards and lower one opens downwards.
  16. -Pssssss hey you! yes you, if you wanna see the thing like really close - I might have something to look at for you.
  17. Feel free to roam around hi res 42079
  18. To whom it may concern - I will double the link from the main discussion topic for hi-res image 42082
  19. I posted links to new sets in the 2018 set discussion topic. I will double it 42081
  20. There is a sticker hiding under the panels, which suggests that the frame may be opened to observe some inner feature like an engine.
