  1. I can't say I disagree with you on anything there, Draik.
  2. VELKEN Built for and based on the character created by Velken69. Velken uses the "LW1" gearbox, devised by ToaLeewan Front Back Pose, wielding sword Pose, meeting Toa Araun
  3. OTU, THE INFECTED VILLAGER Otu’s gear mechanism swings his left shoulder back and forth, allowing you to punch things with his mutated arm. Front Back Pose, Looming Gearbox
  4. William Furno, Alpha Team Rookie The chestplate is from a "Fusion Warriors" figure. Front, Pose Front Back, 3/4 Pose, running Pose, standing his ground
  5. Hey, nice! He looks pretty cool in Tahu's standard colours. Enjoy :)
  6. This. I'd understand if the builds offered angles, details or whatever that bone-based builds couldn't, by really they don't offer much at all besides a slightly higher piece-count. Good intentions, bad execution. stop
  7. I can't help but notice something. In 2010, Hero Factory was introduced. It basically built off what late Bionicle had introduced, but with its own little twists here and there. In 2011, it changed things up quite a bit by introducing a different style of building. The sets that first used said style weren't the best, but as time went on things improved. Meanwhile in 2015, Bionicle was reintroduced. It basically built off what late Hero Factory had introduced, but with its own little twists here and there. In 2016, it changed things up quite a bit by introducing a different style of building. The sets that first used said style weren't the best.
  8. it's me underneath all this skin is just ccbs bones
  9. Yeah, they were marketed as Throwbots in America/Canada, and Slizers in Europe/Asia/Africa etc.
  10. Hmm... Sets Still not sold on Ekimu. He doesn't offer anything of interest to me that I can't get elsewhere. The UtH mask he comes with is gorgeous, but that doesn't warrant a purchase in my book. Now I've seen UtD from the back, I can't help but be a little disappointed? Don't get me wrong, he still looks fantastic overall, but that empty gearbox just tells a sad story of what could've been. Regardless, I'll definitely be picking this guy up. Lava Beast is still for me the best Beast aesthetically, which is ironic as he has the worst lower leg build of the three. The chest print and the overall shaping of this monstrosity make for a really nice, visually interesting figure. The poisoned Tahu mask (?) he comes with is surprisingly rather striking, too. Day one purchase for me. Storm Beast's function is ingenious! While he's not the greatest looking figure, the amount of animation his mechanism promises is enough to warrant a sale for me. That, and the dark blue shells open up a lot more possibilities - heck, seeing as he has an odd number of those, I might end up buying him twice! The poisoned Kopaka mask is a bit yucky looking, though. Quake Beast is definitely the weakest of the Beasts. While the sideways gearbox is an interesting idea on paper, it's not very well executed. A much more elegant mechanism with a similar function could've been achieved using the build used on Ikir, Uxar and Melum. That said, he still wins points for originality, and has an overall lovely colours cheme. The poisoned Onua mask looks really good. Parts I'm glad we have confirmation of the recoloured G2 heads! They look really striking in trans-lime, and will likely look really cool underneath transparent masks. The lower jaw piece used on the Beasts and UtD seems very limited in its uses, and I'm not keen on its shaping. Why on earth is the new crystalline piece a shell? It would've been a lot better if it were an addon - Heck, I wouldn't have minded if it were just recolours of the rocky addon from Bruizer and Korgot. Not keen on this piece at all. The Beast mask (?) is pretty swanky, and really plays on the design language of UtH's mask. That said, it's a little on the big side, and the fact that it relies solely on the trans-lime G2 head is a bit of a disappointment. The new, bestial MoCo is pretty cool! I'm glad the eyes line up with the standard eye position, so it can be used on a silver head if required. The cracked sections at the sides are a little odd though, and may prove to be tricky to work around. Overall I guess I'm gonna be "that guy" when it comes to summer waves, as I quite like these! These sets are certainly not without their flaws, but they still all look fairly decent in my eye. I'll be buying all of the Beasts (Storm Beast twice) and UtD, but likely not Ekimu.
  11. This, and a wide diversity of mechanisms.
  12. Very interesting... What comic is that? Also, I found some extra little bits and pieces from some old Lego Mania magazines here. EDIT: Check out this May 1999 issue of the UK Lego Technic magazine!
  13. I concur. Let's not go down that route again.
  14. Okay, so I'm a pretty big fan of the Slizers - They were great, innovative little sets, which were full of character and colour, and they really opened the doors to the world of constraction like nothing else could. But sadly, the little disk-throwing dudes didn't really have much in the way of a backstory. Just what do we know about them and their universe, past their beachball planet and the supposedly mutagenic meteorite?
  15. I recommend them all. Seriously.
  16. I'd love to see more details about the lighting system!
  17. So I got Tahu over the weekend, as I wanted the recoloured parts and the masks. He wasn't quite as bad as I thought he'd be, but I still didn't like the abundance of gold. I've since modded him with more red on his limbs, and will take pictures soon.
  18. Can those heads accommodate the masks with the jaws attached, though? Surely, looking at how they're connected, the sides of the masks wouldn't be able to go back far enough for the masks to connect?
  19. So uh... I took a closer look at Quake Beast, and.... ...I believe we may be getting trans-lime G2 head pieces on the Beasts. If not, it could be that 2013 Hero Factory head piece, back from the grave.
  20. Yeah. I'd recommend keeping them together anyway, as I really don't think they're even intended to be separable.
  21. The new animation is lush. While Tahu's character model isn't quite matched to the set, it's close enough for my liking. The mix of 2D and 3D animation makes for a really satisfying stylistic choice, blending in the mechanical look of the characters with the storybook feel of last year's webisodes really well.
  22. I don't think the story will be more simplified. I think the member of staff on the stand who said that to Barry meant it was simplified in comparison to G1.
  23. I believe Huw is the head of camp at Brickset, yes. And I agree, having somebody else write about those themes would be much better than being a snarky wiseguy.
