  1. I know I said I wouldn't, but I did.
  2. That function is fascinating, and his design isn't 100% bad. Sure, black Technic would've been better than light grey, and sure, chunkier arms would've been nicer, but all the same I can't say I'm too upset with Storm Beast. I'm still gonna get two copies for an even number of dark blue parts.
  3. Brilliant. Shaping is all around really, really good.
  4. The trans lime G2 head is glorious. Lava Beast ain't so bad either.
  5. Y'know, the more I see of Ekimu, the less inclined I am to skip buying him. I may end up getting him after all.
  6. Onua, Uniter of Earth Here’s my take on 71309 Onua, Uniter of Earth! Sporting a Technic-heavy upper body build, my version of the gentle giant accommodates the wide chestplate from his 2015 edition (70789 Onua, Master of Earth), and upper back panels which open out to provide room for 2016’s “Unity” function (demonstrated here with the lovely 71304 Terak, Creature of Earth). I love doing larger models like this, so expect more in future! Front Back Front, Unarmed Pose, Flaunting strength Back Panels, Opened and Closed Pose, United with Terak, Creature of Earth Skeleton, Chest and shoulders Skeleton, Back and shoulders
  7. I got the new graphic novel yesterday. I'm going to have to parrot what everybody else is saying, as it really is very good.
  8. "It's called the Vahi so it must mean G1 and G2 are connected!" is yet another super-weak argument for a connection, especially considering that the six Toa and Makuta also share names with their G1 counterparts while being unique to this new universe in and of themselves. Also, IIRC, Vakama didn't forge the G1 Vahi in two halves or break some top half off or something, and even if he did I don't see how this top half would just disappear into the aether, only to reappear billions and billions of centuries later on another planet in a distant galaxy. You can argue "times wimey nonsense", but to me that just feels like more of an excuse. This is most likely just another artefact of G2 lore that shares a name and role with something from G1's lore - because y'know, that's a thing rebooted franchises do? Harken back to their original iteration/s? I mean, look at Transformers, with its many Optimus Primes, Autobots and Matrixes of Leadership - same concepts, different universes, different rules/characterisations. At least, I really, really hope that's the case here.
  9. They are opaque though?
  10. Ekimu the Mask Maker My take on both forms of Ekimu the Mask Maker, a coveted character of G2 Bionicle lore. Okotan form Toa Form
  11. Thanks guys! I think it would be best that your MOCs go in their own topic. As was I, hence this mod :)
  12. Thanks guys! :( As do I!
  13. Thanks guys! Sounds interesting! Is there anywhere we can all read this? "Sister, against me, you'd be nothing but steam! Hot air, as they say..."
  14. Indeed they are! Part of the game of that set is to punch your opponent's Tarakava in the jaw, which snaps it down so you can then smash off the mask.
  15. Natur, Rebooted Master of Nature A long time before Toa Araun was realised, this fellow was my self-MOC: Toa Natur, Toa of Nature! Although I suppose these days he’d be the Master of Nature, wouldn’t he? ;) Natur was the star of two series I ran on YouTube back in 2008 - one on my first channel titled Toa Natur VS Makuta Pharex ( ), and another series on my current channel which I regrettably deleted. Natur didn’t have much of a character past being a bit cocky. This rebooted version of Natur not only uses parts from an XSZ Iron Man figure, but also has its own custom gearbox! I’m not sure what to name this one yet, though. Front Back Pose, Standing with Araun Skeleton, Gearbox front Skeleton, Gearbox back
  16. Scuba Tahu Do you ever build something, and then just ask yourself… “Why?” Scuba Tahu is one such creation. Front Back Skeleton, Upper body build
  17. MOD: Pohatu, Uniter of Stone Here’s my modded version of 71306 Pohatu, Uniter of Stone. Now he’s got actual biceps! Front Back Front, Unarmed Pose, Wearing the Golden Unity Mask of Stone Skeleton, Shoulder build You can see more of my modded 2016 sets on my Flickr.
  18. I'd recommend the Tarakava, too. The punching function is so satisfying!
  19. In regards to all the conspiracy about Bionicle doing badly, here's an interesting snippet from the latest issue of Blocks Magazine. Food for thought. (Please excuse the large image. It's best kept full-size for the sake of legibility)
  20. Do you remember what sets you've got? If so, use Bricklink to find the inventories for each set and gather their pieces, one set at a time.
  21. I boxed them all up and listed them on eBay.
  22. When I moved on to primarily CCBS-based MOCing in 2015, I sold the vast majority of my G1 parts, only keeping my masks, some select armour and weapon pieces and a few of my favourite G1 sets. Since then however, I've started collecting more of my favourite G1 sets to keep - a few which I previously owned before the 2015 purge, and a few I've never had before. I've even started collecting Slizers sets, hoping to eventually end up having the entire set. Currently, the vast majority of my G1 collection is in pieces. Each set bagged up individually and archived in a big white box, so I can build them again at a later date for display. Four Roboriders, three Slizers and my Exo Toa however are stored - again, in pieces - in their original packaging. Currently, only Roodaka, Millenia Slizer and three other Slizers stand built on my shelf, as these are the most recent additions to my collection and I want to have them out on display for a bit before I go ahead and archive them. I mostly do this archiving business as I don't have much spare space in my room - my one shelving unit is already dominated by MOCs and books, and every other surface in my room either has storage or electronics on it. I could put up more shelves on the wall to the side of my bed, but they'd likely cover the entire wall and make things look messy. Maybe I'll be able to have all of my sets out on display when I move out on my own? So anyway, how do you store your Bionicle figures? Do you archive them like me? Are they all jumbled up in one parts bin? Or are you lucky enough to have them all out on display? EDIT: Apologies if this has been asked lots and lots before. Hey, I guess this is better than necroing an old thread, right?
  23. It entirely depends on the figures, and what prices they're going for. I'd suggest looking at reviews of a set before caving and looking into buying it. See the model from all angles, and use that to judge whether or not you actually want to have it. Is it poseable enough for your liking? Does it have any functions that catch your eye? Does it look like an enjoyable thing to build? Does it look good aesthetically? Also, don't buy it overpriced for the sake of it - If you don't want or need the original box, buy the set without it and save some money. Don't worry about original manuals either, as you can Google the name of pretty much any Lego set and find digital instructions somewhere in the results. I'd recommend finding the original RRP of the set on Brickipedia or Brickset and buying an eBay/Bricklink lot of a similar or lower price. Don't buy old sets from Amazon, as you will get scalped.
