I got it from here. It'll likely show up in WHSmith, Tescos and such in the next few days.

I got the first issue of the UK Bionicle magazine today! It's mostly snippets from the first graphic novel with some little activities here and there, which is nice for kids who won't get the graphic novel I guess. Also, the Skull Scorpion freebie is kinda cute honestly!

I've wondered about that. I presume the upper half may have clips of some kind that the lower half snap onto, or maybe even an addon port (like on a shell) at the mouth for the lower half to peg onto.

MODS 2016 Bionicle Summer Wave "Canister" Sets It’s that time of year again! Here’s my first batch of modded 2016 summer Bionicle sets. One more will be unveiled soon ;) Ekimu the Mask Maker Ekimu features a more streamlined gearbox build, more comfortably positioned shoulder pauldrons, and a port on his back to attach a clear stand for his trusty falcon. Oh, and toes. Gotta have toes. Pose, Falcon Overhead Front, Falcon perched Back, Falcon perched Pose, Falcon perched Skeleton, Torso front Skeleton, Torso back Lava Beast I loved this guy initially, but I was desperate to fill out his torso and improve his legs. He also gets a full Shadow Trap, much like his brothers. Front Back Front, Stood straight Detail, Lower legs Skeleton, Torso Front Skeleton, Torso back Storm Beast Not much has been altered aesthetically with this fella, but his mechanism has been modified slightly to accommodate some traditional friction gears. Front Back Pose, Slashing Skeleton, Torso back Skeleton, Torso front Quake Beast Quake Beast received quite the aesthetic overhaul, along with a more standard gear function for his crystalline clubbing arm. Front Back Detail, Crystal Club Detail, Clawed hand Detail, Shadow Trap Detail, Bracing for attack Skeleton, Torso front Skeleton, Torso Back Skeleton, Crystal Club

Thanks guys! I tried to incorporate it, but it didn't mesh with the aesthetic I was going for. I'm perfectly happy with a standard gearbox though :)

REVAMP Skull Basher After reading the newest Bionicle novel, I got in the mood to build a skeleton… So I revamped Skull Basher with some newer parts! Front, Pose Front Back Pose, Wearing the Golden Mask of Earth Skeleton, Front

It's such a basic piece that I don't see it as even remotely classifiable as useless. I for one can't wait to start experimenting with it.

I got a hold of the Sharx Mixel so I could build Ekimu's Falcon with the correct coloured beak. Said falcon is really lovely.

:O 'O' O: This'd be fantastic for younger kids, especially with more simplistic builds with little to no Technic, and more cartoony designs. I can see very basic CCBS-based products like that being aimed at the 4+ demographic easily.

Does anybody know when the magazine is coming out?

Hey guys! The overall opinion of G2 Bionicle across the fanbase is rather divided, so I thought it'd be interesting to make a Strawpoll to try and gauge what people from multiple communities (Facebook, Eurobricks, BZPower, The TTV Forums, Flickr) feel about the line. The poll is as displayed; To submit your answer, click here. If you don't wish to answer (or already have) and wish to view the results, click here. Once you've answered, please feel free to share the poll elsewhere to help get a larger sample size. Thanks!

This thread is interesting. I love the idea of minifigure-piloted CCBS mecha. That could work really, really well - I mean, look at IFB. The idea of a girl's constraction line seems interesting too, but I'm not quite sure how well it could perform. CCBS characters do look very inorganic, so they'd either have to introduce a lot to make it suitable for that purpose, or come up with something with armoured/cyborg characters. As for the thought of ditching robots/cyborgs all together, I'm all for it if it could be done well. Again, CCBS is a very mechanical looking system, so a lot would have to be introduced to make the characters not look armoured. My only concern is with functions. I've become really fond of them, and seeing them in Star Wars figures makes me hopeful that Lego are fond of them too. I would hope whatever follows G2 Bionicle (if anything) maintains that instead of going back to flat, lifeless do-nothings. Launchers are okay, but aren't really the same thing. Speaking of functions, I've often thought about how a Slizers reboot (or at least something Slizers-esque) could be, and I personally think it could work really really well; A cast of simple characters in a basic, competition-themed setting that kids can invest a lot of their own imaginations into A large focus on the game aspect of the disc throwing function The discs could be scannable, like the Nexo Knights shields, and usable in a mobile and tablet app As opposed to a single-piece throwing arm, discs could instead be held in a new hand piece, which could go at the end of any arm build with a propelled shoulder for throwing the disc A somewhat updated version of the Slizers head piece, maybe using the Nexo Knights shield piece for stickered visors as opposed to a specified piece Slizers of a variety of sizes and price-points with more unique disc throwing functions as the figures get bigger Playsets akin to those featured in the Lego Sports hockey range, which include exclusive Slizers and discs alongside targets to hit, hoops to fire through or other things to interact with Disc and visor blind bags could be interesting Media which attaches the game to a story, akin to that of the Beyblade and Yu-Gi-Oh anime EDIT: I've mocked up a basic idea for a reboot Slizer. Nothing incredible, but it gets my idea across. The gear mechanism is probably pretty bad IRL, but again this is just proof of concept.

In regards to fears of Bionicle's apparently upcoming demise, I'd just like to port over this excellent post from Umm Durmán on BZPower.

I only just ordered him today, but I'm already in love. The upper back does look very empty though, and I am kinda bummed out by that empty gearbox... but that's all by-the-by. He's cartoonishly dangerous looking, almost like Taz the Tasmanian Devil or something, which I really dig. 9.5/10

I haven't got Quake Beast yet, and I'm not sure if I will get him unless I find him on offer. I'm just not keen on the asymmetry at the back, and the function seems pretty poorly executed. That, and in terms of parts, he doesn't really offer much that I can't get/don't already have elsewhere, other than his mask and the crystals. At the moment, I'm not sold. 5/10.

Lava Beast is excellent, I'm really impressed with him. Like you say, he does just reek of "evil". The trans black crystall shells (which should've been addons, not shells) look brilliant over the top of trans orange bones, giving the impression of crystalline lava on his body - I mean, we had solid balls of air and light in G1, so why not crystallised lava? The chest print is magnificent, and oh-so reusable. The custom hands/claws are brilliant, especially paired up with those wonderful... wings? Plumes? Weapons? Whatever they are, they're cool, and really help Lava Beast look more evil and dragon-like. The head design is interesting, but I've found that the extra balljoint is a little bit problematic when moving his head about the place. The empty back is a sad consequence of low parts budget, that I think could've been negated if it weren't for those awful lower legs - What is with these Beasts and "zomfg custom!!!!!" legs? They look bloody awful. Anyway, Lava Beast is definitely my favourite. 9/10.

Storm Beast is an interesting set. While the function is very clever and fun to manupulate (he's like a marionette), it does lack severely in the friction department, which can be very annoying. The arms look really spindly thanks to the shaping of those crystal shells (why oh why aren't the addons as opposed to shells?), but the clawed paws/hands make up for that by looking broad and menacing. The inclusion of dark blue is a wonderful bonus, but the odd number of dark blue shells is a pain - I ended up buying two Storm Beasts just so I could have an even number of them, much like I did with this year's Gali. The "zomg customm" lower legs on the Beasts are a waste of parts honestly, and Storm Beast's are no exception. All in all, Storm Beast is an intriguing set filled with useful pieces, but isn't the most impressive figure on the market. 6/10.
