  1. The mini turntable has 28 teeth too. Apart from that: this was a problem I was pretty much unable to solve, but with an independent suspension, so the space was even more limited. But with a solid axle, it should be doable with Sariel's solution, you have plenty of lateral space, and I wouldn't worry about strength too much, the wheel on a simple Technic axle will be your bottleneck, not the suspended frame.
  2. The analogy is quite poor. Cloning Lego in a poor quality is nowhere near having a similar product of some kind. Some of the "defenders" seem to miss a very important point: used parts. Not everybody is only building sets. It's easy to avoid the crap if you build sets: you don't buy the crap. But when building MOCs or building very old sets, you will probably need parts. You buy parts, many of them will be used and may contain the crap. And not able to easily differentiate between the sh.t and the real LEGO parts, is at least F*/@#cking annoying. I guess it may be enough to discourage people from buying parts, eventually crushing dreams and jto asdhbfgjfhasfjadasdasd Every time you buy a Lego clone, a puppy dies. *jumps out of the window with foaming mouth
  3. I don't see the "people just post to dislike" thing here, maybe I'm the only one who says it sometimes? Seriously, I do feel that sometimes (at least in the Technic subgroup) there is a bit too much back-tapping there, I'd be happy to see more negative but constructive feedback. But apart from that, it's a good forum, compared to others of other topics. I'm a forum addict. so I know a bit about forums
  4. I don't think there's too small moderation here. I saw forums with less moderation and still everything was very civilized. More would be worse. And I don't think there's too much noise here either, I saw much noisier forums which were still civil. So OP, get used to the internets EDIT: I also start the day with this forum, and with the biggest computer games programming forum. Both of them are great because the moderators became from active forum lurkers. Sorry, a non constructive comment, as usual from me.
  5. It's very nice! I have only one complaint: why do you (and many builders) cover the engine? You make a key feature almost totally hidden, making it kind of pointless.
  6. Newly restarted laptop? Are you sure all drivers (motherboard and video) are installed? (Their newest updates from the manufacturers' websites, of course)
  7. The second IMHO. Just try to be consistent. If the front is dominated by flex axles, then all the body should be.
  8. So, the tires are not the same as the tires in 8880?
  9. Your LADA is coming along nicely I mean Porsche
  10. CV-joint light grey part? And if the rear hub works, that means the front will work in the same way (and obviously it works, you can tell it by the fake engine) Edit: PWNED!
  11. No Lego for Christmas. That's what is good in being adult. I buy the sets I want whenever I want (can...)
  12. You don't think you have the skill to build this? I think you should challenge your skills to find out! Now go and build.
  13. He's from Hungary. Another far-east country
  14. It's so cute, it actually climbs the rocks.
  15. But it does! Look for it in the forums, I remember an extensive review from Philo about it.
  16. Hmmm. Piterx's solution was something I thought of the other day, but I didn't have the rubber pieces to try it.
  17. Yup, but the shock absorber is a bit different in Lego. The Lego spring are are already compressed in a great amount when assembled with the plastic parts, so practically it already "sits" at a halfway point. As far as I know, street cars sit at about 1/3 compression (so they are quite stiff). Rock crawlers sit at about 2/3 compression (soft suspension). Desert racers (like Dakar cars) have about 1/3 again. Real cars have pre-compressed springs as well, but maybe the pre-compression is not that big, because it's a specialized part, but in Lego, the only spring parts are the shock absorbers. And I guess they are pre-compressed to give them strength but keep their stroke and length limited. Sorry to OFF, the model is great, it does look like an official model.
  18. Thanks for the comments. The car is my design, but I don't have much plans yet. Maybe the wheelbase is a bit short, but I think it's okay for a 2 seater sportscar. If it is too long, it's quite easy to make the model longer.
  19. Everybody calls this kind of engine "fake engine", it's a custom I guess. Fake, because there are real engines, the electric motors in Lego. But this model doesn't have any.
  20. Yup, you are The axle can't go through the switching part, because there's an axle-pin there.
  21. Update: Project cancelled. The project was over my head and the whole building process was a huge mess, so I disassembled it. I will build it again, but I'll have a few (at least one) warm up project before that. See other thread.
  22. Hi all! I have a new simple car project, a bit of a warm up project before going to more complex models. Features (so far): *full, independent suspension on all wheels *fake V12 front mounted engine *3+R manual gearbox *rear wheel drive *Ackermann steering (not precise, it's hardly noticeable) *very smooth, stable steering with Hand of God operation, the first time I got it right *working steering wheel Rant about the design: There are still some hacky parts but overall I'm satisfied with the progress.
  23. It's not just a few people who doesn't really see the plagiarism here. Sure, it does have some copied solutions, but they seem to be only a few aesthetic stuff. The kid was a bit stupid (or rather immature) to copy them, but Sariel's solutions were good for those, so they were copied. A few aesthetic parts.
