That's indeed very interesting! I see that you aligned the studs of the sidewalk and road and then compensated for the height difference by swapping the plate/bracket. That's quite smart! My ball joint connection might be a bit overengineered, though my ramp is twice as long which probably gives it a bit more wiggle room.

I see you cleaned your camera lens ;) I really like the layout with the large glass panels, the vertical sign and the different floor heights. It might look simple at first glance, but architecturally it's a lot more interesting than the glass boxes most people are building, and it gives you space on the inside to hang the tiny spaceship on the well :) The structure on the roof reminds of this classic piece from the 90s, which was actually used for landing pads as well:

But then someone on Reddit pointed out it should be a library, and I agree it fits much better.

Amazing part usage, especially with the hidden mechanism inside! I also really like the red bars and the use of the thin Technic liftarms, it just looks right. It's going to look great on the train cars too!

Very nice! Using RFID tags for the distance measurement sounds intriguing. I am also thinking of ways to automate a mix of powered up and 9V trains, ideally with only Mindstorms components. It's very challenging.

Aren't the Ninjago modulars pretty much Cyberpunk? And I guess there are the Marvel skyscrapers. Maybe LEGO is already running out of ideas? Shopping street feels a bit generic compared to the earlier modulars. I would love to see a post office, a school, a hospital or train station, but I'm not sure if those would sell as well as the last few sets.

Yes, having some raised sections can make a big difference. I heard there is also a clever layout in the LEGO house that makes use of comically steep road ramps, much steeper than mine. Of course you are free to use this in your own builds. Otherwise I wouldn't have posted it.

I don't have much room, so I'm planning to build a compact LEGO city. To make the layout more interesting, I want to raise the buildings in the back row. Therefore I need sloped roads! To avoid having hard edges or gaps, I came up with the idea to use Pythagorean triangles, right triangles where all side lengths are positive integers. Some of the recent modular buildings such as the boutique hotel also use these to achieve their interesting shapes. There are two triples that are particularly interesting: 9/40/41 (3 bricks / 16 bricks / 16 bricks + 1 plate) 11/60/61 (3 bricks + 2 plates / 24 bricks / 24 bricks + 1 plate) Both have relatively shallow angles (12.7° and 10.39°), and on the bottom side they are multiples of 8 bricks, so they fit nicely onto baseplates (or MILS modules). For now I went with the first option and doubled it (6 bricks height difference on a 32x32 baseplate). The hard part is to figure out where and with what parts the sloped road can be connected to the baseplate, because it only lines up in a few places. To figure out these points, I drew the ramp in Inkscape and overlayed 2 LDU (0.25 plate) grids for the straight and diagonal sides: I was first planning to use the classic 3937 hinge, but the geometry didn't work out. Instead I went with the more modern tow ball + socket pieces. I also used the new 1x2 cheese slopes on the upper edge: Here is the prototype. It turned out very sturdy with only 4 tow ball connections: As you can see, the height difference is exactly 6 bricks, with no gaps. I guess I need to order more of those cheese slopes in dark gray It would also be possible to use normal plates and tiles on the slope, and place the cheese slopes on the connecting module instead, like in the first image of this post. It's also possible to add sidewalks with a curb, using the same technique, by simply raising the base by one or two plates. Here is my plan for the city. You can see the 3 ramps with sidewalks. The one hidden on the right uses the even shallower 11-60-61 triangle, so I guess I need to figure out how to build that one too…

Brick Cross' predecessor, the Meeting Point, felt like a really good solution. The platform would just have to be a bit longer. I think it's much better than having the tracks on the back from a marketing point of view. Elevated tracks, maybe perpendicular to the sidewalk, would also work well from a modular point of view, but then people would have to elevate their whole train layout.

Here is a custom modular I built a few years ago. I took some inspiration from 4954 Model Town house and older modular buildings. I also wanted to use part 28327 Door, Frame 4 x 4 x 6 Corner, which came with the 31105 Creator Toy Store. I'm really happy with the ground floor window front and the balcony above. The roof windows can also be opened up to access the interior. The idea to make this a library came from a Reddit user. So far there are no interiors, but I think having some high bookshelves with ladders could work really well. Sadly the 4954 from my childhood has been sitting too close to a window, therefore you will see some yellowed pieces

I think the house would look even better if the windows were inset by half a stud (by using jumper plates), but the general layout and color scheme is beautiful. I especially like the conservatory and the veranda. The car also fits perfectly!

This is a bit of an old post, but I wanted to say that this really inspired me to build my own version of the tunnel portal. I decided to use the shield tile as the headstone, and somehow managed to avoid the jumper tiles. The instructions are on Rebrickable as well and I gave you credit of course!

It's crazy that you managed to install the saddle support technic axles through the little cutouts! I actually wanted to use that exact same part for a cathedral rose window, but ended up abandoning the idea because... it looks too much like a break disc :P
