LEGO Star Wars Set Discussion 2025 - READ FIRST POST!!!

Potential hot take here but I would've just preferred a remake of the 2005 death star 2 for around $500, no interior. A giant diorama of scenes just isn't as cool to me. -

I like how they still use the same royal guard helmet from 2001, it's pretty much perfect. -

Yeah it's him or Malak for me, would be Cal if they included his poncho... -

What's crazy is that they put the dual molded C3PO in a $140 set (buildable C3PO) and imperial officer dual molded legs in a $70 set (Vader meditation) yet can't do it in a $1000 set. -

Well more people buy sets when they're on discount so I think it's relevant to the discussion. I'm willing to bet most LSW sets sell better at a lower price. Take Obi wans starfighter from 2022, it has been 20% off at your standard retailers for years now. Does that mean it's sold poorly? No, and it also hasn't stopped Lego from increasing Jedi starfighter/interceptor every year. People need wait for clearance or not buy at all for this to have any change in Lego's future prices. -

Something about the new Arkham feels off to me, apparently it has 65 stickers too which isn't great... -
The MOC's are actually cool though

I think the 20% off sale has been common for like 10 years now, at least online. -

Again I don't have all the facts on this, but don't retailers put most Lego sets 20% off after 3-6 months regardless of if it sells well? And also more people are likely to buy a set on sale, for example 5 would buy full price but 10 would buy it on sale, making the same amount of profit in that scenario. -
Yeah I miss the alt builds on the back of the box, definitely something old Star Wars sets did better. Of course it probably wouldn't work today due to so many specialized pieces.
-
Yeah you could always build both and see which you like better. For me one of the advantages of Lego versus model toys is that you can make the Lego set how you want.
-
This is a pretty good alt build on rebrickable which makes it look a lot better imo https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-184281/ron_mcphatty/sith-infiltrator-set-75383-mod/#details

It depends on the sale, yes 40% percent off or higher generally means the retailer wont make a profit on the set and will order less of that set. As you know though 20% off is pretty standard and almost all Star Wars sets not including UCS will hit 20% off, often for long periods of time. I don't think the summer wave will hit clearance prices for a long time (holiday season at earliest), you are right though if people can wait then it will hurt Lego. -

You guys can buy whatever you want for whatever price you want, I'm just saying waiting for a sale at Amazon isn't going to hurt LEGO. The retailers already purchased the Lego sets, it makes no difference to LEGO if they sell them for a 5% or 40% markup. All that said I'm not expert on this so I'd encourage you to do your own research. I want to clarify I don't care at all about retailer profits, I'm just saying they're the ones eating the cost of the sale not Lego. If they put the sets on sale then they will sell more copies, they'll still make a profit. For example If everyone waits for the MTT to be 20% off and then buys it, the MTT still sells well. All that said I'm not an expert on this. I just keep seeing people on the internet telling others to wait for a sale on the summer wave but that probably won't make much of a difference to LEGO's profits. -

Unless the sale is from LEGO.com you're only hurting the retailer (Target, Walmart, etc). Lego will keep overpricing these sets as long as you guys keep buying. Obviously waiting for a sale is still a smart move for your personal finances though. -
Yeah this is what I was talking about when I originally replied to Lego Nostalgia. Mandalorian Knight if you still don't believe me about MandR hate take a look at r/legocirclejerk.
-
I don't think his goal is to make people feel bad by saying how much he's spent on Lego, as far as I know he's just responding to questions from his Q&A series. He would lose a lot of money from not buying the new sets and it would be pretty foolish business wise, his reviews are negative and he's not encouraging people to buy these sets. I defend him because I've been watching him for 10 years and from all the videos I've seen he just seems like a very passionate diehard fan which I suppose can be off putting to people. Not liking his personality is fair, there are plenty of other great, arguably better LSW YouTube channels.
-
Dude you're literally twisting my words. I never called anyone a shill. I said MandR haters dislike when you criticize Lego. The term shill would imply they are working with or receiving money from the TLG, which is obviously untrue. I never said MandR was objectively great, I said from "WHAT I CAN TELL" he seems like a good person. In your post you said "here" implying on EB where MandR discussion is not common or even on topic in the main LSW forum. Again I never used the word shill, you are clearly arguing in bad faith here. I have examples of people saying they don't like MandR because he is too critical, they aren't from EB though Im happy to provide them if you want. So do you have any actual proof whatsoever of MandR age analytics? Oh god forbid MandR and fans asks Lego for a set and spends thousands of dollars on said product. It was a win win for both Lego and the fans, no one was offended or hurt by the 501st battle pack campaign, it was a fun time for the community to get together. You yourself say you don't like MandR for criticizing Lego too much literally PROVING my point. Funny how you need to make up stuff I never said to argue against me. I mean his job is making Lego Star Wars videos, he needs to spend thousands every month on Lego to make videos.
-
Then why do people dislike MandR? He makes good quality content and seems like a good person from what I can tell. Also how am I supposed to know who here likes MandR or not??? I haven't even seen his name brought up on this forum once before, nice bait argument and I don't keep tabs on every Eurobrick user. I have seen lots of people on various social media defend Lego on certain issues and get upset when MandR calls out the issue. You clearly aren't on reddit which is probably a good thing but I can assure you there are plenty of people who genuinely hate MandRproductions.
-
Yeah MandR hate seems to stem from people unable to handle any criticism about Lego. When I watch a review I want to see every potential flaw and/or positive attribute in the set to know if it's worth my money.

Can't forget the buildable Ewok of course -
Fair points here perhaps I just didn't think this all the way through, this isn't really a hill I care to die on.

Here's the thing though I'm not really excited for winter 2026 Star Wars but if they took 2026 and 2027 off and returned in 2028 the hype would be crazy, they would in fact have a new movie and shows to base sets off of. Sure I could not pay attention to LSW for 2 years but it's not quite the same, and the sets are unavoidable if I walk in a LEGO store. As I said my hope would be they would come back stronger and make better sets and figures.
