LEGO Star Wars Set Discussion 2025 - READ FIRST POST!!!

Honestly if you're in the market for a CTT you could just buy one of the older ones used, I doubt the new one will look even halfway decent. -
Best and Worst year of Lego Star Wars?

I agree with this a lot. The figures from the past few years have been simultaneously more detailed but less accurate, arm printing has become more common but so has printing errors. I hope one day this theme can reach the highs of 2008-2014 again. I agree 2015 was good year and could definitely be argued as the end of the golden age, sadly it was the start of my dark age. -

The MTT and Republic Cruiser from that year were so good though -

2009 is one of my favorite years as well, 2008-2014 was the golden age in my opinion. -

I'm really pissed the Lego prices have gone up because of this, the buildable B1 was originally $100 in the US and is now $140. -

There were also a lot of really obscure Clone Wars sets that year which could be a good or bad thing depending on what you like. -

I definitely agree that the best OT sets were from 2015-2020, my problem with those years was that all the sequel and solo sets just didn't interest me. In defense of 2011 it did have Anakin and Sebulbas podracers, super star destroyer, and a falcon with the whole OT crew. I sort of agree with 2008 though, a lot of those sets have much better remakes. Interesting, seems like most answers here fall into the mid-late 2010s. -

I can excuse, fascism, child murder, torture, and genocide but I draw the line at SA. -
Best and Worst year of Lego Star Wars?

Yeah I agree that 2013 was a great year for Lego as a whole All the Rogue one sets were really top quality I might have to agree with this year being the worst, only reason I didn't pick it is because we still haven't seen all the sets. -
I'm curious to hear others thoughts on this. For me 2013 is the best year, the selection was great with prequels, clone wars, OT, Old republic, and this was before all the Disney stuff. The builds were also starting to get really good during this time, many still holding up to this day. Worst year is probably any of of the last few years, just not a fan of all the 18+ sets, Disney show sets, or the downscaled builds.

When are we getting the Bix and imperial officer SA set!? Also B1 looks really good, shame about the price though. -

That's fair, I'm cool if they make them, I just wouldn't buy any. (I think most people would be in my camp as well) The movie was terrible, performing well at the box office doesn't make it good. I'd argue ANH and ESB are both in the same conversation as the godfather in terms of the greatest movies of all time. Rian Johnson and Ron Howard heck even JJ Abrams had better filmography than Levy imo. Star Wars needs real talent, a visionary like George. -

I mean Kylo ren was one of the most liked parts of the sequels, so the sets kind of make sense, granted they're overpriced. We got so many Clone sets from 08-14 it just felt like such a downgrade during 2015-2019. The sets we got weren't great either, Jedi Clone BP had named characters, spider droid was remade too soon, CTT was downsized. -

I don't think it makes much sense for Lego to make more sequel sets, the demand is too low right now. -

Star Wars has taken from other genres before, even copied movies like Seven Samurai (twice) and Dances with Wolves. I just think having it be set in Star Wars would be cool, similar to how the Mandalorian is inspired by classic westerns, seeing it set in Star Wars is neat. It doesn't have to literally be the same story, it was just an example of something similar they could do. I probably should've used Death Trooper or Red Harvest as a better example, as you said. I get your point about the tone and feel of Star Wars but to me they already ruined that with TLJ and subsequent media. Also as I said they make so many shows nowadays it's basically the same as Marvel, I'm not sure how many times they can keep retreading the same formula when they release 3 shows a year. -

I'd be ok with a rated R Star Wars nowadays just because there's so much content anyways. Kids can still watch most of the shows like skeleton crew, Mandalorian, etc. A rated R Star Wars horror movie would be insanely cool to me, like imagine "The Thing" or "Alien" done in Star Wars. Marvel did an R rated and I'd say they're similar franchises in terms of demographics, heck Star Wars probably has more adult fans these days. 10 years ago I would've been against it but Disney has done so much irreparable damage at this point, I don't care about the current canon, I just want anything cool or interesting I can get. Yeah it's a shame about the Turbo tank, it seems like every remake these days is worse than its predecessor. -

I think Dave is best suited to animation, TCW, Rebels, ATLA, are all at the very least, decent. People gave him too much credit to think he was the next George, his live action stuff has been mid at best. As for Andor I'd prefer "emmy bait" to the other slop we've been getting. I don't think the show is perfect, but compared to the rest of the shows it's leagues above the rest. -

I think the ROTS sets are a bit disappointing this year, we're not getting any main characters of the movie and the sets are just vehicles seen in the background. Also I know it's been said, but no Tie Avenger is crazy. They also could've made those speeders/transports the stormtroopers and the other imperials were riding on, instead of the 327th battle pack. -

Yeah it's kind of silly we've had an anniversary the past 3 years in row. Next year is also the 10th for R1 and then 50th for Star Wars in 2027, 20th for TCW in 2028, 30th LSW and TPM in 2029, this could go on and on... Granted some of these might not come to fruition.
