Yeah I don't think people realize just how big the Star Wars galaxy is. There are over one hundred quadrillion sentient beings, so many stories to be told with new characters.

Fair but I think sand blue would look better, even if not totally accurate. Similar to the bad batch shuttle -

I just want sand blue Tie Fighters -
But...but... my favorite character showed up and killed all the bad guys therefore it is a masterpiece.

Bo Karen (yes I'm saying Karen on purpose because I don't like her character) was the least egregious of the returning characters, but I feel like she has existed in the galaxy for too long but whatever. Again with Ahsoka I think her character is an abomination that should've died long before Mando s2. There are lots of lesser known Jedi who survived order 66 they could've used. Your argument for Luke showing up is essentially just that because he's one of the main OT characters, shouldn't he be busy with other things? He could've sent someone like Kyle Katarn. Also none of this Jedi stuff mattered anyway because Grogu went back with Din in the end. Look I'm not saying there can't be any returning characters but 4 in 8 episodes is ridiculous. The Boba Fett episode was literally just Dave Filoni saying "wouldn't it be cool if Din and Boba teamed up and killed stormtroopers for 30 minutes". The show also made stormtrooper a non threat so there were pretty much no stakes. The episodes really did feel like stories I'd play out with my Lego as a kid lol. Imo the show should've focused on keeping it about a badass Clint Eastwood type bounty hunter, with new characters because the galaxy is unfathomably large with so many potentially new characters.

I will also add that having all these returning characters just makes the galaxy feel smaller. Ahsoka should've died in clone wars, I would've accepted her dying in rebels though. Also there are more Mandalorians than just Bo Karen and Boba fett, they could've created new characters to fill those rolls. Come on Mandalorianknight you cannot compare Yularen and Mon Mothma showing up in Andor, to Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Luke Skywalker, three fan favorite characters showing up in Mando s2. The truth is without the fan favorite characters no one would like Mando s2 because it is boring and poorly written. -

Yeah my problem with Mando s2 was the fact that half the episodes had returning characters for the sake of fan service, (Bo Karen, Boba Fett, Ahsoka, Luke). By the time they got to Luke I was rolling my eyes, it felt more like kids playing with action figures than an actual interesting story. It felt very cheap to me and I still to this day don't understand why people glaze that show so much.

General Star Wars Discussion and Questions

I agree with your general sentiment although the older Plo Koon printing would rub off if you played with it which wasn't great. I definitely prefer the older molds for the Stormtrooper and Darth Vader helmets though. -

Yeah the price would be tough to swallow. I wouldn't mind if they brought back light up Vader, most people have a normal one anyway so it's not like the character would be locked behind a light up version. The smart brick stuff is just way overboard. -

I think Lego should've just made the new AT-AT motorized instead of all this smart brick stuff. -
Lego Star Wars Minifigures Old vs New
Darth_Bane13 replied to Darth_Bane13's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I would have to disagree I think the flesh tone skin, pupiless designs from 04-09 were peak LSW minifigures. The new ones are objectively more accurate but that doesn't necessarily make them better imo. The family guy helmet is such a bizarre choice they've stuck to, it's probably the most common complaint besides clone troopers. -
Do you guys prefer the more modern detailed designs of Star Wars figures or the older simplistic designs? Personally I tend to prefer the older figures as I think they feel more like Lego and they aren't trying to be totally accurate which gives them a lot of charm and personality. I think trying to make them as realistic as possible just looks weird as they can never be proportionally accurate like an action figure would be, it creates an almost uncanny valley effect especially when their faces are packed with detail. For the example the old Darth Vader helmet while less accurate, fits better proportionally and looks more like Lego to me. The new Vader helmet feels like it almost belongs to a different toy than Lego, the eyes are also always looking up. With all that said I can appreciate detailed figures when they actually pay attention to said details and actually get them correct. My problem with modern figures is they just look like cheap customs or knockoffs due to having so many incorrect details. The Fives figure for example has a lot of detail (arm printing, leg, toe), yet the helmet can't even get the printing in the right place. I think the figures from 2014-2019 were respectable as they paid close attention to smaller details and actually strived to make sure all the printing they were adding was correct. I'm curious to hear others thoughts on this.

Someone really needs to make a MOC of that scene from AOTC with the Acclamators. -

Yeah I'm not in a hurry to get more clone stuff at this point, if we do get wolfpack though I'd prefer them in P1. -

I do agree. I think the justifier had the same problem, it was a similar size to sets in that price range but not that cool of a ship. I think if we get anymore clones they should be phase 1. Since 2014, you could count the amount of sets that include P1 clones on one hand. -

I think the UCS Falcon and AT-AT are a much better value, the death slab simply isn't cool enough to warrant a $1k price tag. -

Fair points, I should rephrase and say I think kids are less likely to be into older media. The OT is pretty timeless and beloved, everyone who grew up with the OT definitely showed it to their kids, thus making them fans. The prequels are nowhere near the level of the OT, most casual fans dislike TPM, and AOTC, and are lukewarm on ROTS. The prequels have more of a cult following, most prequel fans were born in the 90s-early 2000s. I personally love them but don't think they stand the test of time like the OT. I think Lego is targeting both kids and adults for the summer wave, with an emphasis on adults. All Lego sets are toys at the end of the day, I don't know any adults who only buy 18+ sets. 18+ sets are also lacking minifigs which are a big draw of system sets. I think Lego knows they can target both kids and adults with play sets. This is why you have both galactic marines and stud shooters in the CTT, fun playset for kids and collectors item for adults, and a clear price tag for adults. I think you're too hung up on the ages on the box, it's not 2007 anymore. LSW has completely changed from kids toy to collectors item with occasional sets for kids -

I was talking about the prequels not the Ahsoka show which came out only 2 years ago. Not sure why you're bringing up ANH when we didn't get any OT play sets this summer (or year). Besides the Battle pack and firespeeder every play set this summer was from the prequels or clone wars. I don't think the prequels are liked outside of the kids who grew up with them. Do you really think 8 year old kids are asking for glup shitto troopers from a 20 year old movie that got lukewarm reviews? I think Lego knows about the fan wish lists and decided to charge $45, if that set was for kids they would've charged $30 at most. This summer wave literally looked like an AFOL YouTuber dream wave. -

1. I think for the Star Wars theme specifically they have started making system sets that target adults even though it still says 6-12. All but one system set this summer are from media that is 15+ years old, kids today probably don't care about galactic marines and 327th troopers. With that said, I could be wrong, I don't know what most kids are into these days. I'd find it hard to believe the prequels are still popular among kids. 2. A much better era of the theme one might say. 3. Is two Andor sets to coincide with s2 really asking too much? You have to admit LSW set selection is pretty wack. -

I don't entirely disagree, but I think a lot of adults do actually buy system sets. A lot of the summer 2025 play sets seemed to be aimed toward adults who grew up with the prequels/TCW. I also don't think a set needs to be recognizable to kids for them to want it, we got a Tie Defender in 2010 which was just from various EU media. Lego could have recognized the greatness of the Avenger and decided to make one, they made the Ambush on Ferrix set in 2022 for S1 and that isn't even as cool as the Tie Avenger. -

I think they should've saved the Tie Advanced for 2027 for the 50th anniversary of ANH, and release the Tie Avenger this year while Andor is still relevant. They definitely knew about the Tie Avenger long enough to have it out in 2026. Even though kids don't watch Andor I think it looks cool enough to be popular among them, plus the obvious large teen/adult market. -

Yeah I think you pretty much nailed it. In my defense I literally haven't watched the show since 2013. Back then it was still pretty strong Ninja vibes. I will say I am quite tired of Ninjago as a theme, It's long overstayed it's welcome imo. I'd much prefer a reboot of the 90s Ninja sets (yes I know they aren't similar). All that said I think it's reasonable to be upset with modern Lego because it's such a departure from what Lego used to be.
