  1. In my opinion, remakes are overrated. Why not innovate on an old idea instead of trying to replicate it? But it's a fair point.
  2. I couldn't agree more. Yet the volcano looks a bit isolated, perhaps some other background islands? Either way, I think I might have to pilfer this technique for future MOCs.
  3. I feel that simplicity is part of the charm. But yes, this is one of the cases where the name 'Port Royale' is a bit extravagant.
  4. Precisely what I was picturing. This would be inserted vertically in between the studs. I agree. While it looks fine for a photo, I would refrain from it for a proper MOC.
  5. This is precisely what I was trying to say with my 'the wall needs a little work'. Well said!
  6. I don't quite have the luxury of selecting a light for the purpose. I just use the light I have.
  7. Tech issues! I think we can all relate to that one. It seems to be a universal occurrence.
  8. Very innovative, the SNOT techniques look great. I can't help but think of all those poor minifig torsos without their hands, though. Some tiles would also go a long way in terms of polish, such as along the edges and on the surfaces of the lower levels, especially when they are juxtaposed against the smooth SNOT upper floor.
  9. Also, the crane from the new Eldorado Fortress isn't bad either. Perhaps a similar design, but transferred into brown, could be the solution you are looking for?
  10. Once as a kid, I froze some minifigs in a block of ice, and dug them out with a spoon. Some pretty rare minifigs got quite scratched, but it was good fun!
  11. The fun of the contest is what counts, not the final winners etc.. I would vote for an extension myself, if only to see more great builds like this one.
  12. Transferring digital builds into physical ones without extensive bricklink orders is often underwhelming, but here you do a great job. In fact, the physical minifigure is better, in my opinion, than the digital one!
  13. Another thing is that this build looks exactly as if it has a place within a Lego system world, even though its primarily technic, which has a very different aesthetic. Well done! I look forward to future builds.
  14. Very clever photography! Such innovation is what building Lego is all about.
  15. I completely agree, the finished product is the photo, not the build itself. It's a bit like stop motion films, in that way. You don't judge the quality of a film based on how the set looks in real life.
  16. I would post perhaps a comment a month if it wasn't for Creative Critic. It's really kept me engaged with the forum (probably at the sacrifice of my studies). Now that I have a strong lead, I'm going to keep going, striving for the 100. My target is locked in!
  17. Thanks for the info. It's encouraging to see that it can be built for real. You never know, someone might build it one day!
  18. I often find that micro-scale builds are more challenging than full-scale ones, as each and every element makes a big difference.
  19. We all look forward to the latest build! But one thing to be careful of is that I definitely don't think it needs to be any bigger, if that's what you were thinking.
  20. Somehow, I didn't realise it was Steve in this build until now. What a great connection between two very different things (poems and Lego sets).
  21. One concern I have with a lot of NPU in digital builds is that the elements might not be made in real life, so building it for real might never be achieved. What's the case for this one?
  22. The creator has spent less than a week on Eurobricks, he might just be getting used to the interface. Or not know how to use it, or is not a devoted member.
  23. I've never tried making sails myself, but always wanted to give it a go. It's probably because I've never built a proper ship MOC: the one I did build had a hot air balloon instead of sails, as it was a flying pirate ship.
  24. Sounds good. I look forward to seeing the finished result.
  25. A good decision. When it comes to Lego, modern reboots are often far superior, especially when it comes to sets. Just have a look at the Lion Knight's Castle.
