  1. This makes me wonder a more philosophical question: how simplified can something be before it is no longer iconic? Either way, though, this build certainly is iconic!
  2. The string and sails are a good choice to include, but I'm a purist, so I can't help but point out that its not Lego string! With the sails, there is really no substitute, but for the string, Lego string would be fine.
  3. One more thing that would really polish up this build: the edge of the water looks a bit jagged and distracting. Rounded plates, or a rectangular footprint would go nicely here.
  4. Speaking of colours, the yellow chair seems out of place. I know my builds tend to be a bit dull (regarding colours), and this is probably why: I would've switched the chair for brown, or some more earthy/woody colour.
  5. Something I would change if this was my build: remove the loading ramp on the right side. It seems unnecessary, detracts from the well-constructed dock, and overhangs the edge. I have nothing against overhangs, but here, when even the water has such a clean cross-section, it seems that the other elements should too.
  6. I was wondering... Is the compass above the ship symbolising a flag? Or is it some sort of actual compass or clock that I was unaware ships had?
  7. The build is definitely a little cramped. But if you don't want to remove anything, perhaps consider spreading it out over another 4 or so studs horizontally.
  8. You should consider submitting this to Lego Ideas... it would have my vote at least. The only thing is, they might not accept it, claiming it is too similar to the Barracuda.
  9. One more nitpick: the flag in not viewable from the front, so maybe rotate it the full 90 to face the front (and look like it is streaming behind the rolling cart). Or just 45, to be visible from both Steve's close-up photo, and the front.
  10. Even a non-Lego stand could work. Just place it on the edge of a shelf or something.
  11. I like the spacing of the planks on the dock, and the larger figure is clever too. Whilst I originally wasn't keen on it, the longer I look at the image, the better it seems. Well done!
  12. Whilst not strictly necessary, I think it would make the build look more complete and refined. And the sloped foreground wouldn't have to change at all, a background would just be added.
  13. My apologies, a simple slip of the tongue keyboard. Would that be a shark fin in the waters there, or a shark rock? Either way, I'm not sure if it's necessary, and seems to block the view of the cutter.
  14. In that case, there's not much I can say. It's already such a great build.
  15. I must say, I agreed. The blue and orange colour scheme absolutely let down the set, as well as the too-short wingspan. If you want to see how I ended up fixing it, check out the video below:
  16. A great build: the wall detailing creates a great ruined effect. One critique would have to be that the beach looks a little jagged though: perhaps smaller slopes or plates would help smooth it out. Or, get rid of the offset slopes altogether, and line them up instead. Good work!
  17. True, but my suggestion still stands: In my opinion at least, MOC castles generally look better than Lego Harry Potter sets.
  18. Perhaps if you built this on a base of some sort: the single layer of plates makes it seem unrealistic, like you couldn't built it in real life. Also, some more variation in terrain, such as in the top right corner, might add another nice element to this build.
  19. Nice island, a good use of the (original?) fabric sail. I also see the influence from the Barracuda Bay set. Great build! Only thing is, a fabric or posterboard background would've been more effective, but if it's not available, we all understand.
  20. Nice build, great photo. One this is, I think the photo is a little too yellow. I'm unsure whether you changed that in post-production, but if so, maybe tone it down a little. Good work!
  21. Great build: looks very classic and authentic. But it pains me to see Lego, especially vintage Lego, getting dirty and sandy on the beach! Also, that beach is remarkably pebbly, what part of the world is it in?
  22. Great build, the use of colour is marvelous, and the micro-scale Barracuda is great too. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the loose feather elements for the waves. Nonetheless, well done!
  23. Looks great, it's always good to see a classic set reimagined. Two things: the blue wall could do with a shield or detailing of some sort, and are those pre-molded boat hulls?
  24. Unique design and idea: good work! I like the brown katanas for the ladder, are they a real element? However, whilst I appreciate the original palm tree design, I think it looks a little bare, and I don't understand the dark tan at the top.
  25. Great build, you've really captured the Lego aesthetic. Two points of critique: the roof looks a little bare, perhaps 1x2 dark red tiles would have worked better; and the staircase element in the back looks a little strange for an old stone fort. Once again, great build!
