Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
strangely replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
They would never do that. All of the exclusive figures we've ever gotten have been just a variation on an existing character using existing molds. Lego wouldn't waste an entirely new character for this. It is indeed reanimated (They really couldn't even use most of the stuff from the game as most of the cut scenes are rendered in game). In fact I've noticed that Arkham has green windows in the movie rather than the red of the game. As well as the trailer showed several shots that aren't in the game at all (Fighting with the penguin for instance). It's based on the game for sure but it doesn't use any of the footage from the game. Here's a gallery for comparison between the game and the trailer: http://www.flickr.com/photos/61809702@N07/sets/72157632604756377/ -
Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion

Finally we have a release date for the Lego Batman movie! May 21st! It's great they gave us a Clark Kent. Although the torso kind of limits it's use. But it's cool nonetheless. Even weirder though is that one site lists this as being rated PG-13. http://toynewsi.com/news.php?itemid=19816 Based on the trailer it seems as if it's a movie based on the game. And while some of the footage is similar to the cut scenes it is higher quality animation than the cut scenes (As well there are noticeable differences in the scenarios of those scenes from the game), so it's pretty safe to say it's not just recycled video. -
But it's definitely not a strong point, after all their picking on a set based on a PG film... And they act like this is super violent, I mean there's only a few fantasy style blasters included and I think an axe. This hardly counts as a war toy, at best this is a skirmish. Now if they wanted to pick on sets like the battlepacks and some of the Lord of the Rings stuff I would understand that a little bit more as those are conflicts in a war (An overly fantasy based war, but a war nonetheless). Instead they set their sights on a set that revolves around rescuing a kidnapped friend. And worst of all why is it up to Lego to answer for violence. After all it's the movie industry that targets these movies at kids, it's the studios that make toys deals and tie-ins. If someone is offended by the violence shouldn't they blame the movie rather than blame the toy (Which at worst let's you reenact Looney Tune levels of violence).

I really am loving the character selection for these sets. It's great to get some non super powered figs thrown in. It's nice that Lego finally threw in some female characters too. I hope the design for Tony Stark that their using in the Marvel game promos is pretty similar to what we get in the actual set, as it is a good design. -

I'm betting Iron Patriot will either be in an exclusive set or a special promotion. I mean I don't see them missing out on making it. As for Mandarin's rings I honestly don't see the point. There's not a practical solution to them really. After all Lego people don't have fingers... I mean the ring piece only barely works for Lord of the Rings (I'm sorry but it just looks a bit silly to be wearing one gigantic ring that takes up an entire hand). The only way I see Mandarin having rings is if they're printed on (And that seems pretty unlikely considering they didn't even bother to give Spiderman his boots). -
I wonder if anyone will have the heart to tell these people that Naboo is a planet of domed buildings and towers. Seriously though do they not realize this is based on a movie. It literally resembles the palace as seen in the movie, why exactly are they going after Lego on this. And why single out the weapons in this set, when just about everything in the toy aisle focuses on something violent. If these people don't think the violence is appropriate than why exactly were they buying star wars for their children in the first place. If you don't find the toy appropriate than certainly the movie can't be appropriate either. I'm sure the Disney lawyers are preparing a comeback, they're not going to let anyone bad mouth that 4 billion they just spent.

That seems like a waste. Oh well...

All I can say is that it better be the actual medal piece rather than printing (I don't like the printed medal on top of the prinitng, it sort of ruins me being able to use the minifigure elsewhere). Yes, he gets a medal.

It was stated that Boba Fett was on the packaging for the advent calender and that they thought they saw Jango Fett mentioned on another set. So that's the connection I'm trying to make here.
-
No official confirmation from Lego. But we did have a few people glance at the retailers catalog, so it seems pretty likely we're getting them.
-
Lego can do better. I would assume Jango will have the same amount of detail as the Boba Fett from the new skiff. I assume for young Boba they'd use the Frodo hair or something else more accurate than what he's had in the past.

I'm definitely hoping for some Jurassic Park 4 sets. After all we've had some Jurassic Park sets in the past and now with the molds from the Dino theme it wouldn't be difficult at all to make these sets a reality.

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion

There are plenty of reasons they might want Lego to withhold characters. What's made generally counts on popularity, so lesser known characters will probably take longer to see the light of day. Other characters like the fantastic four are withheld in anticipation of movies or shows being released (A tie-in product as it were). Then there's also characters that Lego doesn't have the rights to make. For instance spider man sets can't be based around the movies because megabloks own the right currently (Let's hope for a change on that). -
Best/Worst designed licenced minifigure ever?
strangely replied to Santaduckz's topic in LEGO Licensed
I initially hated the figure, but my opinion has softened on it. Really it's not a bad figure, but it's not a good figure either. It's just ok... My problems are relatively simple. First off it's overly cartoony with the oversized eyes and bright colors. The excessive amount of blue really adds to the cartoon look of it, making it brighter than Spider man should be. And the printing is rather simplistic. And it lacks the details that the other superheroes figs have (No leg printing kind of sucks, plus silver for the webbing on the suit would have been nice, it looked good on the last fig). Overall there's nothing special about it, and against the other more detailed figs it just looks out of place. Plus the fact that it's based on the cartoon rather than the movie is a big letdown right off the bat. Like I said, it's ok. But an okay fig in a lineup of awesome minifigures is disappointing. -
That's weird, their all clone wars figures when in the preview none of them were...

Legend of Zelda: Iron Knuckle Encounter up on CUUSOO

Now this set definitely has a chance of getting made. Great playability and great looking minifig. -
Hasbro makes stuff from the deleted scenes all the time. For the most part deleted scenes are still part of the canon. So even if the tank droid wasn't seen in the final cut of the movie within the greater canon it was still there. As for what episode this set will be based on it's pretty likely it's episode 2 based on the rumored Jango Fett that's coming with it. Granted that's not 100% confirmed at this point, but a few more weeks and we should get an answer for sure. Cloud city is different than vehicles. Sure all remakes of vehicles will pretty much be the same since its the same vehicle. All that really changes on those is the techniques used in the build and parts. Location playsets are a bit more free in how they work and look just because there's no one look to go for since only specific rooms and functions are being built, so odds are if Lego did revisit Cloud city it would be pretty different. Plus the way they handle builds like that are pretty different today so even if Lego did redo only what was in the old set it would still look significantly different.

Indeed it does. Lego doesn't need a chrome version. Sure as a UCS I can understand wanting it to be chrome. Those sets are supposed to be as accurate as possible and whatnot. But we don't need another UCS. We need a regular play oriented set. A grey version would be fine for just a regular set. A $70 set with a pilot, handmaiden Padme, Sabe in queen disguise and a droid would be perfect.
-
You're probably right about that. With the planning it takes to make sets Lego probably decided not to mess with the line-up they had just because Lucas moved up the release for Ep 3. Plus we've had a pretty steady stream of Ep 3 sets lately so it's not as if we need any more right now.
-
I don't think those reasons make that much sense. I mean why does it need to be chrome? When Lego's are new they shine and reflect like crazy. On the standpoint of accuracy I think that's remarkably close. Even the crappy versions Hasbro has put out have been a dull grey (Their not reflective in any way like the mirror look of the ship). If Lucas cared about accuracy that much than the Hasbro versions would have been flagged for not mimicking the mirror like surface. Plus it's not like Lego portrays everything so accurately. Look at Anakin's podracer. In the movie that thing was chrome and blue, in the set it's a dark grey and blue, even the shape isn't that accurate and yet that passed? It just doesn't feel like accuracy is that important when we get inaccurate stuff regularly. Also the angles aren't impossible in Lego. In fact that ship (And it's episode specific variations including clone wars) have been featured in the video games several times, built with real bricks even. Lego even built a version of it in grey for that SW prequel video they made a while back. A quick Google search shows dozens of fan made versions, obviously it's not that impossible to make those angles. These just seem like weak excuses.

All we need now is a remake of Zam Wesell and we'll pretty much have remakes of all of the Ep 2 minifigs we've had in the past. I'm glad on the sail barge we're not getting another Luke, that would have been a waste. Confirmation on Ree-Yee's is exciting too.

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion

I think there might be at some point. While that may be true about the use of the connector holes Lego did do the same thing with the Hogwarts set. They gave us connectors so we could rearrange the setup but later on they released another set that could be added on. The same thing was also done with Helm's Deep. So there is some precedent of Lego doing this. So I'd say there is an okay probability that we might see something like that for Arkham later on. After all no matter how you arrange them there's still some open connector spaces. -

Yes, it feels like it's $10 too much. But the build is rather simplistic so that's kind of why I feel that way.
