LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (Video Game Discussion)
strangely replied to The Joker1's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Pretty much. I've never had a problem there, but I suspect that's because I usually go early. At my Gamestop they don't actually give you the minifig unless you ask for it. -
So after seeing the the Comic-Con footage of Lego Batman 3 I decided to recreate the 66 Batmobile in LDD. It was a long process of going through footage to discern the wide variety of pieces used in the build. The middle section was a bit harder to put together as there wasn't a lot of footage of that section being built (Plus the red chasis being used as a base was a bit of a surprise). As you can see it's not completely accurate to the game. Right off the bat the gold grille is not held in the same way, but that's because LDD won't let the clip hold the grille. Also colors don't completely match, especially the greys. Trying to differenciate shades of grey is annoying, so it's not perfect. Fortunately all the varying shades of grey are in the inside where it can't be seen on the renders. And the back! At some point I will actually have a physical model rather than just a render. In fact I'm halfway done with building it with real bricks. But it'll be a while still before it's done. The two red chasis were hard to find and I literally had to order them from another country. Interestingly enough all the pieces needed to build this actually exist with one notable exception. Unfortunately that size of mudguard doesn't come in red as of now, so it will be black on the physical model I'm building. So at some point I'll update this thread with pictures of it in the flesh, until then enjoy these poorly lit renders (It takes forever for my computer to render and I'm not going to fix my lighting mistake).

That's interesting. I hope he doesn't end up being a generic unnamed citizen (Similar to the many nameless guards we've had in this theme).

Can you tell us anything about the civilian in the car? Hair color and gender would help. I hope it's classic Lois Lane, though with Superman not in the set that seems unlikely. Though Batman being there makes it possible it's Vicki Vale. Also I can't think of any hero that matches the Javelin's pilot. I'm going to have to do some research.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
strangely replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think Gwen Stacy's likely at the very least. Lego is introducing a hairpiece in the CMF line that would match her iconic look completely. Plus we need a few civilian characters for next year. The DC sets seem to have none and I would be bummed if Marvel went down the same path. -
I'm hoping they give us a Flash with gold printing. Maybe a darker red too. I would be extremely disappointed to get the exact same Flash we got this year. As for Aquaman I'm not sure what they could do with him other than give him a new hairpiece (But that falls into "New hat" territory and wouldn't really be new). I'd say they could update the printing, but it looks pretty close to the New 52 style anyways. I guess they could give him printed legs...

That's very possible, one of the old tour cars was after all on the Comic-Con poster, so it seems possible they could run across the ruins of the old Jurassic Park over the course of the movie.

I'm assuming they'll recolor the current molds and perhaps make one or two new molds for new Dinosaurs. There are several iconic dinosaurs we don't have after all. Though I doubt that rubber Dino will reappear as that thing wasn't very good. I'd like to see a Mosasaurus.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
strangely replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Padme's hair is pretty useless for anyone except Padme. It looks too weird for City, to nice and complex for historical themes. Why make a new ponytail for the Dino Tracker? It's not as if we don't have at least three other options for that, options that probably look a bit more fitting for someone running through a jungle rather than this formal looking hairpiece. To me it seems awfully specific and there's not a lot that really ties it to the Dino Tracker. It is possible that this piece was created for the Genie and they just decided to use it for the Dino Tracker too. Padme's hairpiece doesn't look like Bespin Leia's hair at all. In fact this new piece from the front matches Bespin Leia's hair perfectly. Now if the back is a braid rather than a ponytail that probably means Leia will use it at some point in the future. So until we see the back of that hairpiece I'm not going to rule out the possibility.- 1,109 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion

That's been my bet for a while. It's one of the few updates we haven't gotten and from the front it definitely fits, though a picture of the back will definitely make it clearer. All in all the molds do look better and better for this theme.- 1,109 replies

It sounds like a great wave. Supergirl and Cyborg are a refreshing break from the Justice League members (Cyborg will always be a Teen Titan to me, no matter what). I do think they missed a great chance to include Starfire, a space theme and everything and we don't get Starfire. Hopefully within a couple years we get a set with Raven, Beast Boy and Starfire to complete a basic Teen Titans lineup. I will say it's a bit disappointing that we aren't getting any civilian characters. We still haven't gotten a comic Lois Lane yet. Plus with no civilians who is there to save? Villain selection is great though. Manta, Grodd, Darkseid and Brainiac are great diversity, a little of everyone's rogue gallery is a nice way to go.

I knew it! If they manage to give us a tour car even half way similar to the original and a Jurassic Park gate I'll be happy. I'm definitely happy since this means new Dino's. My main hangup with the last Dino theme was that they were colored so oddly, I suspect these will be a bit better.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
strangely replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'm assuming they created it for something licensed and then are using it here to get their money's worth similar to the forest maiden's hair being used in the CMF shortly before being revealed as Endor Leia's hair. I'm halfway assuming this is probably something for Leia or Padme as it's definitely in their style. But until we actually see what the back of it looks like I can't really tell for sure.- 1,109 replies

The plot looks really good. I'm hoping it ends up becoming a DTV movie like the last one did. I mean the story seems very cinematic. -

You might want to check Ebay. Or get the parts off Bricklink or something like that. -
I meant that anything Arkham based would sell better than something Aquaman based. But ultimately at the end of the day Lego wouldn't use any of the DTV movies (I still call them TV movies out of habit). There's really no reason to when the comics all have the same stories and character designs. I agree about the violence though, I remember the DCAU fondly and wish they'd just continue that instead of what they've been doing lately. Though I doubt Lego would have much of a problem with the violence as they seem to sweep that under the rug for all the live action movies they make sets for.
-
It's an animated TV movie, DC puts out a bunch of them each year. And I doubt Lego will be making sets based off an animated TV movie anyway. If any of those movies should be made into a set I think Assault on Arkham would be a far more likely choice. It's not as if there's a clamor for Aquaman right now... Regardless though it seems unlikely.
-
For the Darkseid set I'm sort of expecting Superman, Supergirl and Shazam and of course Darkseid with Desaad.
-
I don't really see us getting another Flash so quickly, a new design seems unlikely, and just a reuse of the last one seems too lazy (Though I wouldn't mind gold printing instead of yellow). So I'd assume they'd throw in someone else against Gorilla Grodd. Maybe Cyborg and Beast Boy. After all Beast Boy is arch enemies with Grodd, and this would be a great opportunity to fill out the Titans roster, plus Cyborg is also a member of the Justice League so it ties in both ways. Plus with the cartoon being on right now there's no better time than the present to include some Titans. As for Black Manta I don't know if I see another Aquaman set. He's not that overly popular, nor is he really in need of an update. Perhaps they'll include a different hero against Black Manta. Darkseid pleases me greatly, a bigfig would be great. Though this list seems to lack any hint of Brainiac, so I don't know how much I believe it. For now I'm cautiously optimistic.

I recall an episode of Batman the animated series where Supergirl and Batgirl face off against Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Livewire. So having a set with that line-up would be awesome, but unlikely. But I'll keep on dreaming...
-
Catwoman seems pretty likely, she looks like an officially designed minifigure. Harley on the other hand I'm not so sure about. Her hairpiece doesn't seem all that official to me. It has three colors after all and that black may be problematic to print (Though Lego has surprised me before), but it still seems possible. Truthfully I'd rather have an Arkham Knight version of her, as the New 52 version doesn't impress me.

Why were there no MARVEL sets for the Thor 2 and TWS
strangely replied to smkaemp's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'd guess popularity and demand played a part. They probably save the sets for movies they know will be big and will have a higher demand for sets. And character wise Guardians offered a lot more than CA2. Why get another variant of Cap and Black Widow when you can have an entirely new team of characters. As for last year I'm sure it was just a popularity contest and Iron Man beats Thor unfortunately. And I'm thinking any movie that involves Natalie Portman already has three strikes against it based on how little she appears in the Star Wars sets. I would have rather had Jane Foster than Pepper Potts, I mean it's not as if we don't have a ton of redheads in this theme already, but I guess I'll just have to wait a bit longer. Also I'm betting that they tend to choose the movie that features things that would better fit into the standard price points. Why make sets for the bigger than life Asgard when you can slap some Iron Man variants onto a boat. It's a lot easier to compress Tony Starks mansion into a $40 set than it is for a castle. That seemed like Disney's hand. They did after all take show based sets and intentionally use movie villains. So I'd say they wanted to capitalize on the movie without completely supporting it. Essentially they used Sony to create demand for those terrible USM sets. And it worked, so I can't exactly fault them on that one. -
I feel as if the author of this article was a bit unfair. Lego offers a lot of options, for those who want to build what's on the box and for those who want to build whatever they can come up with. I mean up until a few years ago Lego even included alternate models on many sets with no instructions just so the builder could figure it out for themselves. It's true the licensed sets dominate the shelves, but that doesn't mean it stops kids from building whatever they want from the pieces inside. And one could argue that well designed sets might encourage a child to design things for themselves, even modifying and improving upon the original model. Honestly I sort of doubt the author of this article has even put together a Lego set in years. And if she thinks that Lego is stifling creativity she's obviously never seen any fan creations online. And her bit about the Friends theme really isn't fair. She describes it as shopping malls and model catwalks to support her argument, but leaves out everything else. Friends may lay on the pink a bit too much but it's offered more than just girls shopping and trying on clothes. Like it or not these characters hold down jobs, participate in sports and take part in family activities just to name a few things. Granted it does feature a lot of typical activities, but I don't think houses, schools, bakeries, malls, stables and treehouses are really negative or damaging, I think they're more there for kids to relate to. Most of these sets feature everyday places and activities that kids actually see and do, so I don't think Lego is wrong to include them. And even when leveled with criticism Lego has gone out of their way to change. There was a lack of adventure in the theme, so now the Friends are out saving the rain forest and it's animals. If this author wanted to criticize the overuse of pink than I would agree wholeheartedly, but the theme has expanded to a point where it offers a bit of everything, so I hardly thinks that counts as a "misadventure."

I'm glad to see the AAT. I'm hoping it comes with a few good minifigures, the MTT was a little sparse. I'm really hoping for a Padme variant, she is lacking a variant for the battle of Theed after all. And I'd hope they'd throw in a new character, Boss Nass would be great. Granted he never came all that close to an AAT, but this is about as good of an opportunity as ever. This would also be a great opportunity to get Sabe, who has yet to appear at all.

I think Supergirl is possible. I definitely think we'll see more variety in the sets next year. As for the Teen Titans I only see us getting Cyborg for now. Though I think Starfire could appear too, with the game having a space theme I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of aliens appear in next years sets. Plus April O'Neils hairpiece is perfect for her, so I'm hoping she appears sooner rather than later.
