  1. Well that special was pretty average. I'm betting we'll see an exclusive minifigure when it goes to video though. Bat-mite would be great, but that would require a new mold. I'm hoping for a Lois Lane, as a comic version is definitely needed. And I feel like the next wave of sets is lacking in the supporting character category.
  2. Yes, the Batman minifigure and the Batmobile in that set were based completely off of the show Beware the Batman.
  3. Alfred looks great in that video. Maybe he will show up as an exclusive minifigure at some point. Or there might be a Wayne manor set somewhere down the line.
  4. Yeah, the option is nice. Really I'd almost consider buying it if not for the head. It looks weird to me. I mean having the stud is an interesting idea, but I guess I can't think of a situation where that would be overly useful. The Thing is bald after all. Though I guess some sort of helmet might be interesting.
  5. I don't like the new Thing. I mean the printed texture is interesting, but I overall prefer the design from the Lego Marvel game (Which is the one I have currently). So I'll pass on that. However the rest of the pack is definitely worth picking up, the rest of them are an almost match for the game. Swapping out the arms is all I'd really have to do.
  6. The Hailfire droid would be fine if it came with a decent minifigure line-up, even a generic Jedi would have helped, but as things stand I don't need anymore clones or super battle droids. The Starfighter on the other hand is great. Plus the Ventress redesign looks pretty awesome. My only problem is that Anakin is a repeat. That hairpiece really needs to be replaced, really they just need to create a Padawan hairpiece in general. I understand they won't be able to do the braid for technical reasons, but they could still make a reasonably good hairpiece nonetheless.
  7. I'm surprised a comic Green Goblin hasn't been made yet. That seems like a no-brainer, especially since Lego still hasn't made one. Some of the customs are getting close to looking right, but the price is too much. Gwen Stacy would be a great minifigure to get too, especially now that Lego has the Spooky Girl hairpiece. And with no Spidey sets announced for next year I'm kind of hoping one of these bootleg companies steps up to the plate.
  8. I've heard that pushing back TLM2 would actually allow the directors from the first movie to return, so I'm perfectly fine with waiting a little longer.
  9. As I recall the Lego Batman movie was made by the same people who made the game, so that's why the cast remained the same. As for this special the cast could be changed for a number of reasons; budget and availability probably being the most likely answer.
  10. Plus, technically Lego hasn't even officially revealed next years minifigures to us. So if we hadn't seen the leaks this would still mostly be current.
  11. Extremely? Not really. Flash, Penguin and Joker are all from this years designs. Wonder Woman and Superman are still the most current comic version we have (At least until 2015). Cyborg is the most notably obsolete, but considering the production time these animations take the official physical variant probably was finalized too late to use it in this video (That probably goes for WW and Supes too). Really this just uses variants that are still currently available (Except for the LB2 designs of course).
  12. I don't find it all that weird. The Jor-el promo had the minifigure off center, with a white glow in front of a really crappy picture. I think the amount of thought put into these polybags ends up usually being pretty minimal, resulting in some very lazy looking packaging. But at the end of the day the packaging is instantly being ripped open and discarded, so a minimal amount of effort is probably all that's worth putting into the design of the bag itself.
  13. I'm really hoping they give this a wider release at some point. I really like this version of Electro so much more than the Iceman version we got last. I'm hoping next year Lego actually just cuts to the chase and gives us an ASM2 set, maybe in the summer (I need an ASM2 version of Gwen Stacy, or any version at this rate). Who know's this could easily show up as a special promotion. Maybe if Sony puts out a directors cut at some point this can come with it...
  14. Yes, Disney is pretty unbending in that aspect. Really it baffles me that after the complaints Lego got with the Friends theme they'd take part in another theme that has the exact same stereotypes except this time with tiaras. Lego isn't really helping themselves when they keep on doing the same thing with the minidolls, at least the Elves theme holds some promise of diversity for the minidolls (Though seeing that a spa and a bakery is already in that theme I tend to think it won't be that trailblazing).
  15. But those hobbies aren't what these stories are about, they're about adventure, about good and evil. Fairy tales by nature are full of conflict and danger. So what's the point of making a theme centered on those fairy tales if the "tale" part isn't even included? And why bother making another theme showing girls practicing their hobbies when we already have the Friends theme doing just that? Isn't the point of having different themes to encourage different types of play, to inspire the imagination? It just seems shortsighted to limit the option of play. Plus by that logic Lady Tremaine and mother Gothel should be included in these sets to mirror everyday life (because everyday life does include parents, stepmother or not).
  16. I'm not particularly bothered by it. It's not a gun-arm all the time after all. Though I'll probably have to get a second Cyborg to swap out his arm.
  17. I'm of mixed emotions on this wave. On one hand I see a definite improvement on the builds, they're much more detailed, the stickers/decals definitely help the overall look of these sets. Also they've definitely got a good color mix going right now, a lot of darker colors mixed in with the lighter. On the flip side though they're faces are still too generic, again it looks like Friends characters cosplaying. It just annoys me because each of these characters have pretty distinctive faces, so to have them look all so similar is a little bit insulting. And this wave had a much weaker character selection. Granted they gave us more animal companions, but most of them don't match the films, so other than the Ariel set the others ended up being pretty pointless additions. And oddly this wave didn't include any men (Other than animals and snowmen). This is especially peculiar for the Aladdin set considering both Aladdin and the genie were essentially the main characters (We get the genie's lamp, but no genie?). And no villains again, which bothers me more than anything, because without them there's not much of a story going on, there's little for the princesses to do. I think the best set of the bunch is the Frozen one. Really all that's missing is Kristoff and his reindeer, but that's something they could easily include in another set down the line. The worst is the Aurora set. No villain, no prince, and one boring room. No wonder she fell asleep for eternity, her only options were to eat, pet a rabbit or spin some yarn.
  18. It's very close, but I was just pointing out it's not exactly the same, just similar. And I think it is still a compromise ultimately because the SDCC one has leg printing (Though I think this one has a better looking head and torso print). I know, I was simply relating the differences on the prints the two have in common.
  19. We're not the primary audience for these sets, kids are, and kids love gimmicks. And considering the character selection contains a number of characters kids aren't going to be overly familiar with it helps to add in a special gimmick to make it that much more tantalizing. It's new prints. Notice the belt is different in the game photo, it's missing the two straps on the bottom. Also the SDCC head has cheekbones, whereas this one does not. It's certainly similar, but still different.
  20. Darkseid is sort of a disappointment to me, he just looks rather bland and it doesn't help that his pose doesn't really fit the character at all. The Black Manta set isn't really as good as I hoped. Minifigure wise Black Manta himself is the only one really worth having as both Batman and Aquaman have identical appearances in other sets. Robin is okay, but not really all that exciting. The Grodd set seems to be a win though. Great minifigures (The driver is great and having that hair in brown will be useful, especially for a 60's Robin), good builds (Even the bat-mech looks better now). The Javelin may be my favorite set overall though, it's a great build and the white looks better than expected as do Cyborg and Hawkman. Green Arrow is so-so, he looks mostly to be made up of reused pieces (Though the hood part in green is a welcome surprise). Superman is just lazy, but having a great DC vehicle makes up for that.
  21. Yeah, the white doesn't look right to me either. A shade of grey or some type of silver would be ideal. Being a prelim though it's possible that won't be the final color.
  22. The Frozen set is definitely interesting. But the colors do look a bit weird, the stairs particularly seem to clash with the overall look of the set, but I suspect they won't be like that in the final. I do wonder if we'll get a hat-less version of Anna's hair. The cape looks like different material from the standard minifigure cape too, probably the same material as Storm's cape in the Marvel set. I am curious if this wave will actually feature movie accurate faces, rather than the first wave that just used generic faces. That is perhaps my biggest problem with this theme. The generic faces make it look like Friends characters dressing up as Disney characters. They go to such lengths to recreate dresses and animal companions to full detail, but for some reason the main characters all have bland generic faces. I mean I realize there's limitations on how much Lego can look like someone, but these faces have just been lazy.
  23. I hope the Javelin isn't white in the final set. Grey, silver or even some shade of blue would be far more preferable to me. It just looks odd being so white. Also the Bat-sub and Bat-mech seem like a waste. Neither of them have a great design, but at least it's a decent parts selection. Brainiacs ship is awesome though. I can't tell completely if that's a trailer or if it's a pickup truck bent in half by Grodd. I'm only seeing two sets of wheels, so I'm leaning towards this just being a truck bent in half.
  24. It all looks pretty impressive. Granted it feels like a bit of a waste to repeat some of these characters. I really don't need an additional Flash, Aquaman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Robin and Batman... But sine they're giving us such a great villain line-up plus five new heroes I will gladly overlook the repeats. I do hope the civilian in the truck actually ends up being someone specific, I'm tired of the faceless nobodies we always get (I suppose it could be worse, it could have been that same officer we always get). It seems to be a gimmick. I'm guessing a special part that launches minifigures into the air. And yes, the two look different. But that doesn't guarantee they will be different in the final sets. I recall last year the Spider-man prelims all had different variations, but ended up being the same in the final sets.
  25. I'm hoping they make a new hairpiece for Chris Pratt's character. His Star-Lord hair wasn't anything special, nor did it fit overly well. And I'm hoping they don't just use the Irina Spalko hairpiece for Bryce Dallas Howard's hair (Because I think that piece is outdated and looks bad in almost every use I've seen it in). Hopefully we don't have to wait till next year to get any peak of the minifigures and Dino's. I definitely think we'll see a set with the old visitors center and jeep. Those ruins are on the island somewhere, I doubt they'd miss a chance to revisit that nostalgia.
