  1. New variation is of his mouth being open with his tongue partially sticking out. Oddly Blu-ray.com is now saying it comes out on March 10th, while Amazon says May 10th and the original press release says May 3rd. So when this actually comes out is anyone's guess.
  2. I'm guessing opinions will change once we see high quality images of each minifigure in their entirety and then probably again when we get the full review for them and then maybe once more whenever these physically show up. Opinions tend to evolve over time. These minifigures in particular might take some time getting used to. This is actually one of my favorite CMF's so far, but I can understand the mixed emotions around here. There's little expectation other than it'll drop new and odd minifigures as well as useful accessories into the Lego world. Designers are given more freedom and thus any series of minifigures could draw inspiration from an unlimited amount of sources. Licensed CMF's unfortunately don't have the same freedom, they have to design within certain parameters, utilizing certain characters. In the case of Disney it has to be doubly hard to design a lineup of already established characters, some so iconic that a person could identify them by their nose or chin shape. Even harder is the fact that these characters range greatly in style. We have Mickey and pals who's aesthetic originates nearly at the beginning of animation itself. We have Alice and Peter who fall into the stylized Mary Blair look. There's Ariel and Aladdin created during the Renaissance. Then jumping into the 3D world we have the Pixar characters. Ultimately fitting all those style into a consistent range of products will mean that they don't look quite like what we're used to, some details will be altered or removed. Likely this is jarring or just plainly off-putting to the fans of these characters. I think in time people will get used to the look. They are pretty different from what we're used to seeing. Just as Disney products alone they're rather different.
  3. My big problem is ultimately I feel like we're going to be waiting around to finish off any particular set of characters from any given franchise and there's no guarantee Lego will even add more characters to these franchises later on. For instance Aladdin/Genie is really missing Jafar and Jasmine. Syndrome/Mr. Incredible is really missing the rest of the family. Peter Pan and Hook is missing Wendy. Maleficient needs Aurora. And Buzz and the Alien are missing every single other Toy Story character (Granted there's so many characters important to that franchise they would have been better off not rehashing these again). Oddly, Stitch is kind of fine without Lilo. It's only now that I realize how boring almost everyone else from that movie would be in Lego form... On the flip side I feel like Ariel and Ursula is all we need from the Little Mermaid. I mean we have most of the animal characters already included in the Princess sets. So all we really need is Eric and king Triton and there's already a good selection of parts to recreate them anyway. Being a Wonderland fan I'm most disappointed by the lack of characters we're getting for that. Granted there's a lot of characters in that movie, so that was bound to happen. I wish they had at least included the Queen of Hearts to act as villain. Seeing Alice makes me want actual sets from this movie.
  4. I think negativity is to be expected. In the end it's going to be difficult to make everybody happy with the limited selection of characters and the changes that are made to the character design to fit it into the Lego world. Disney is pretty heavily nostalgia based, that alone makes it more susceptible to criticism.
  5. The new skirt piece for Minnie is interesting. I'm hoping they did a similar piece for Alice. Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite Disney movies, so I'm kind of anxious to see her minifigure in entirety. Cheshire Cat looks better than expected though I would have rather had a molded figure. I like the new Buzz. I personally felt he and Woody should have regular heads, so I'm glad to see them going down that path for at least Buzz. I can't help but think that they need to create a rounded piece to put on heads. If Buzz had a rounded piece covering the stud he'd be perfect. The others look fine, but admittedly I have limited interest in those other films. I only really plan to get minifigures from Alice, Peter Pan, Incredibles and maybe Stitch. Maybe Ariel, she's one of the better mermaids they've put out.
  6. My order has been sitting in the warehouse for a week according to the website. My previous order shipped within a couple days. Wonder why this one is taking so long. It was regular pieces too, nothing special, so it's kind of odd it's taking so long.
  7. There's definitely a lack of interesting accessories. Other than that I like what I see.
  8. Just bought 76053 at Kmart. I was really excited for this set, but having it in hand right now I'm of mixed emotions. The new Harley variation looks way better in hand than in the pictures, I really do like it. My only complaint is that they didn't make her leg printing more like the Jokerland version. Deadshot is really awesome too. The build is the so-so part of this set. Both vehicles are very similar builds. The main body and the wheel attachments are pretty close to being the same for each vehicle. The Bat-bike looks good. Harley's bike isn't that great though. The big wheel in the front feels kind of stupid and the bike is overall a bit too big and clunky. The gold detailing also doesn't look that good in the final build, especially the gold fez pieces, it really looks out of place. It sort of seems like Lego just didn't want to spend the money making it the proper chrome color to match the look of the bike. I'll definitely be modding this at some point.
  9. Me too, but I do think I saw this guy in an episode of Scooby Doo. Maybe there's a zipper printed on the back...
  10. The Mad Hatter was popular long before Tim Burton ruined him. And Alice is really popular herself, more than the Cheshire Cat. In previous merchandise I've seen him appear as Alice's accessory, so I tend to think that's the way we'll see him this time around. I could understand him getting a minifigure, but for me that would kind of suck. Like I said earlier he's a character that more or less just lays around all the time, a standing minifigure wouldn't really do justice to that.
  11. I don't know that about that. He's much smaller than a human and he's often portrayed laying or floating through the air. I mean he is anthropomorphized to an extent, but I really don't think it's enough that a regular minifigure would make sense for him. He certainly uses his front legs like arms, but the majority of the time he is just laying around like a regular cat. So a standard minifigure body might not look great. They did go the minifigure route for Scratchy in the Simpsons line, but in all fairness even in the actual show his main body isn't really shaped like a cat nor does he ever move like a cat. I think a special mold is all that's really needed for him. I'll say I've been impressed with the animals that were made for the Simpsons line as well as the Princess line. Those turned out pretty well at the usual animal scale, so I think the Cheshire Cat would work in that scale too. Also I'm pretty sure Alice was confirmed. It would be ridiculous if the Cheshire Cat was included and Alice wasn't. Then again this is the same corporation that put the Mad Hatter front and center on the cover of the Burton version despite Alice being the title/main character...
  12. Dimensions Scooby was the sitting variation. Also the exclusive printing for the Dimensions Scooby is on the opposite side of the head, so we can't even tell if it's the same head. Really the picture is too small to tell if the printing is new.
  13. Guess this explains the polybag. Comes out in May. Hopefully this means we might see more from this theme at some point.
  14. Cool, I hadn't come up with a solution for the hubcaps yet. Could you possibly upload a picture of the wheel assembly?
  15. Yeah, they really need too. His helmet almost seems like it's covering less and less of his head every movie since the first Avengers, so it's time they make a change. Though if we do get it I'm going to get annoyed quickly seeing people complain about how it makes his head look big...
  16. I needed another Princess Leia head, so this works out well for me. I like the compact nature of this Quinjet. I bought the first one and skipped the second one. This one I actually have room for. Though I can see how this is disappointing for anyone who bought the last one. Agreed, Cap manages to always look so out of place amongst the others. And the Cyborg face is not fitting at all, plus it's probably sacrilegious to put a DC part in a Marvel set, though that's never stopped them before. If they had to choose from something more recent I'd have sooner taken Finn's head. Then again they probably couldn't get away with two Star Wars heads in one set... Really dislike the laziness with Bucky's head. I can understand not bothering with anything new for Agent 13 (I find her to be bland and uninteresting), but Bucky is at least an important character. He's made three cinematic outings and he didn't even warrant his own face? Weak.
  17. Get a grip, it's just stickers. It could always be worse. The Mystery Machine had like twenty something stickers, in comparison Giant Man is a cake walk.
  18. The logic is that there's a budget for every set and Lego tries desperately to create sets at a price point that is obtainable. Creating nine new prints for one single character wouldn't be cost effective, we'd all be paying dearly for that amount of printing. The fact that we got one printed piece for him is a surprise in itself. It's not ideal, but it's just a reality of the product. It's especially a reality of licensed sets. Friends and City sets are able to do more printed pieces as those pieces are often generic and reusable among a wider variety of sets. Ultimately, they have the option to offset production cost among several sets whereas in licensed sets often special elements are only used once. So in the case of Giant Man it would make no sense to print nine new pieces that will only ever be featured in one set. Likely to print them would mean sacrificing something else from the set. Groot isn't really a fair comparison either. He only really has two prints as the slope brick is used twice. Anyways I would hardly call this disappointing fans. Stickers are so common anymore it's barely worth complaining about. It's simply become a fact of life.
  19. Awesome MOD, I had wondered how well the curved slopes would look on top but always lacked the parts to try it out, it really does look better. I would like to do something similar with my Mystery Machine, but the limited availability of the slopes and the lack of the corner piece in the correct color has put that upgrade to a halt. Maybe when the right parts are in production I'll give it a try. Love the back doors. I've been wanting back doors for a while, wasn't really sure how to do it with the limited space though. Major props for figuring that one out. I like how you positioned the wheels too. I didn't really care for how far they stuck out in the original build so I ended up adjusting that almost immediately after building the set.
  20. Isn't that usually how they create new pieces? That video showed pretty much the same process they've shown in the past.
  21. Well Mickey's head mold would likely be reused (for Minnie), so I could see them creating two new molds for one character if future use was likely.
  22. They could always create new legs entirely. It's not like that hasn't happened before.
  23. Looks familiar, but I can't quite place it. I personally was going to use Dastan's head from the Prince of Persia sets.
  24. Weird, there's a blank minifigure on the bridge set display. The only minifigure I don't see is Spidey himself, but his minifigure is old on the box art. Very weird. http://toynewsi.com/ig.php?dispsize=800&mode=view&album=2016_New_York_Toy_Fair/LEGO&pic=2016_Toy_Fair_LEGO43.jpg&mode=view&sl=25949
  25. I'll admit, I'm a bit bored with that set. It's nice they made a collection of the previous Hoth sets, but I can't say I want or need even half of the things included. I would like the Wampa Cave and shield generator but having the previous base makes the rest of this a bit pointless for me. It'll be nice for anyone who hasn't been buying the Hoth sets I guess.
